  1. If money is an issue I would sugest something along the lines of this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PNY-NVIDIA-GeForce-Graphics-DVI-I/dp/B002RRKHMA/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1319736798&sr=8-7 However if you want to play higher ended games I would recommend a little more money to be spent...... Also upgrade of a graphics card also means a new more powerfull power supply......
  2. Personaly I would also test a diffrent PSU.......
  3. Vista and Windows 7 are not much diffrent.....Let me know how it goes....
  4. I know the wellies n gloves were a joke.... ;) Test each RAM stick individualy.....
  5. External hardware can be an issue,if you have any external hardware such as a printer, external hard drive, web cam ect, unplug them all...Only have your keyboard n mouse connected, now reboot the computer......I asume you have tried this already..... You dont need the rubber gloves.....Nore the wellies.... Power off the computer, remove from power outlet on the wall.....Open her up and touch the power supply for a few seconds.....This should eliminate static......Locate the reset jumper on the mainboard usaly by the BIOS battery and remove and place on the two empty pins, count 10 and replace onto the two origonal pins,reboot.... If your using a wireless keyboard and mouse I sugest until we can resolve your issues switch to a PS/2 keyboard and mouse,.... Then are you able to enter BIOS and check the time and date is correct? Wrong time and date can stop a computer from booting.... Have you tried the one stick of RAM in at a time? This may not be hardware but as Nev said it just is not starting up,have you ever updated the BIOS?
  6. Try the following then retry downloading and installing: http://www.ehow.com/how_4881015_run-programs-valid-digital-signature.html
  7. When you say it freezes at post screen,at what point does it freeze? On CPU or RAM or something else? The first idea is to reset BIOS....Use the BIOS reset jumper on the mainboard then try a restart.... Then if that dont get you up and running this could be a bit of hardware......chkdsk on the hard drive maybe a choice to start checking things.... Disconnecting all hardware not required for boot such as HDD,CD.DVD rom drive, floppy disk..... Reboot,do you get the freeze or any other issues? Attach one peice of hardware reboot do you get an issue? Process of elimination is a start.....
  8. Ive just read through the thread..... On the link to the graphics card that is a fan in that hole....... As the card idels at 35c and during using processes it is 73c I would say this is pritty normal temps and nothing to worry about..... Why I say this is the graphics card, you have a basic NVIDIA 512 mb 64 bit card......It will appear to run a little warm during processes such as watching Youtube etc.....As the idle temp appears fine to I say this is normal and nothing to worry about.... As you have not stated what games you play then I will hazzard a guess of WOW,COD,plus other higher ended graphic intensive games..... My opinion is I personaly would replace the graphics card for a better one......The card simply cannot handle the high process intensive games.... If you keep playing the games the card will possibly develope a fault even break.....I would stop playing these games until you have bought a upgraded card and fitted it....
  9. What is the exact model number of this Netbook? The camera could be Chicony,Liteon or even Suyin.... There is also diffrent driver downloads for each type of Windows 7,like starter kit or premium..... Once we have the exact model number we can find the correct driver for you.....
  10. Bless your welcome...x
  11. Hello there..... Is it possible you are trying to do away with D drive and this partition actualy contains the recovery console that you may need in the future if the laptop incures issues?
  12. Hello and welcome..... Often after a full reinstall some hardware drivers need reinstalling such as sound.....If you do not have the install disk then you will need to go to the computers manufacturers website and under there support tab you usaly input the make and model of computer and it will give you a list of driver downloads....
  13. Hey,firstly try uninstalling Netframe work 2.0 then install NFW 3.5.... Do you have the XP install disk?
  14. Kyle I think you have picked a good machine..... That is a lovley case....I garrantee a Gigabyte board thats the make I buy and use.... That is plenty of RAM,4 gig would do but 8 gig is brilliant.....
  15. It takes a little while to run you may get bored..... Are you getting any beeping apart from the first post beep?
  16. Hello there..... Now I know you suspect the GPU of issues.... But your origonal error points to a faulty RAM stick or sticks.... Have you tested each RAM stick individualy? Remove them all and place one in and reboot... What happens? Do this for each stick on its own... Faulty RAM can give the appearance of a faulty GPU or a dead GPU such as black screen....
  17. Hello there... Your first post appears to refer to your wirless driver.... Try the live update: http://www.msi.com/service/download/ Or use the search box to find drivers and software for your make and model of machine....
  18. Hello there.... You realy need to explain what messing around you did..... You will need your install disk... Scroll to number 14 - 15.... http://gparted.sourceforge.net/faq.php
  19. Hello and welcome.....My first thought is your hard drive is failing or failed.... Then I would sugest testing the system with a new power supply to rule failed PSU.....
  20. Butts in... Swopping hard drives means BOTH hard drives need to have the exact same operating system on them......Then reboot and repeatedly tap F8 key and choose last known good config from the list.....This dont always work though but worth a try..... Two diffrent operating systems means a reinstall of windows.... Are you sure the old hard drive is still good?
  21. I agree,new scanner would be better.....
  22. BT also block torrent software.Even if you legaly used the software to just share files amongst friends its blocked.. To monitor your data usage with BT you have to login to your online BT account.....They also will send you an email when you are coming up to your data usage limit.... Yes there prices may appear cheap for there lower priced ones until you get to the data usage....Then your stuck....When speaking personaly to BT they dont even mention the data usage policy..... Then add to there price of TV,phone line the price is getting greater.....If the data usage package is not for you then unlimited is £28-00,then add TV etc if thats what you want from them.... Costly.... Even with Virginmedia price rise there package deals are cheaper.....There speeds better.......
  23. http://www.productsandservices.bt.co...?topicId=25633 If you look at it it says for BT Infinity, the first one says upto 20 meg speed. You proberly will not get 20 meg maybe around 13 or less.... The next box says 10 gig data usage.....This data usage is when your downloading, youtube etc.....Once you use that 10 GB they will charge you for every 5 GB above that 10 GB you use.... For unlimited data usage you would have to pay at least £28-00 per month. With the data usage, cheaper packages you also get a limited wireless connection an example is say 250 minutes per month.....
