  1. You need the operating install disk,do you have the disk?
  2. Your welcome Trippy. As long as the system is clean with no hardware issues it should run Vista.
  3. Hey that is fine. I am subscribed to your thread now so do not worry. Post back if you want further help that is what we are here for. JB.
  4. If you are carefull and touch nothing other than the BIOS battery you should be fine. But like many others it is a little scairy opening up a computer for the first time. If the person who built it for you doesnt charge you then it maybe better to ask them to help you.
  5. Jumps in. I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit on a P4 2.8GHZ with no lag issues at all. I do have 1 gig RAM installed. Running smooth on the computer in my bedroom.
  6. Power off the computer and remove from power outlet. Open the the computer tower up and touch power supply for a few seconds. BIOS battery is on your mainboard usaly near the front of the PC. Now locate the BIOS battery and you should see one or two metal clips holding it into place, undo clips and pop battery out for 30 seconds. Replace the battery, restart your computer.
  7. Do you have two hard drives installed? If you have only one hard drive installed this is normal. Ok I think your a little lost in the BIOS. Exit BIOS and shut down the computer I think removal of the BIOS battery for 30 seonds is the easier option for you to try. Is your hard drive IDE or SATA?
  8. Ok just load defaults then save and exit. Loading defauts will not cause you any problems.
  9. When you first start your computer you get the post screen, black screen with white words. On the post screen it should say "Press ? to enter setup" this could be Del,F1,F2 or another.Press the key it tells you to. In the BIOS it should say press ? to load defaults.Press the key it tells you to,this could be possibly F10 key. Then it will also say press ? to save and exit then do so.This will be llsited somewere on the BIOS screen on waht keys to press. If you are afraid to do this then ignore what is written above and remove the BIOS battery as I stated in my first post. You must power off the machine first. It is a large 1 cm battery that looks like a digital watch battery.
  10. Hello and welcome to the forum. If you removed the USB stick while booting it may of caused and issue. Could you restart the computer and enter BIOS and load defaults and see if that gets you up and running again? Check boot order that your hard drive is set first boot and CD/DVD rom is second. If that doesnt work power off open her up touch PSU for a few seconds, remove BIOS battery for 30 seconds, replace reboot. JB.
  11. Hello Charlie. You can either yourself search the manufacturer of your computers website for the make and model number of your computer under there support tab you will find the drivers. Or you can tell us and we can then search for you. JB.
  12. I totaly agree of the general user of a mobile phone it realy is a waste to have the BlackBerry. I just sold my old phone which was two years old but was in mint condition and I had all the cables/disks/headset ect still.I just sold it for £50-00,pay as you go. I am not a user of a mobile phone, the phone I just sold I put £15-00 in it and it lasted over a year. I again agree the general user of a mobile phone is a pain in the bottom big time, the music from them sounds tinny yet why do they not use the supplied headset? They tend to shout down the phone to there mates, constant beeps from receiving text messages. I think it makes a pleasent change when my phone vibrates on the bus and I answer it in a pleasent manner and give a computer fix over the phone in a normal tone of voice.Instead of the screams of I am on the bus now I will be there in ten.Plus not just from youngsters the potty words screamed and shouted out in a convo?
  13. I am most certainly not a stay at home mom. I do local computer repairs. I teach computer classes. I work up the local Dropin Center as a volunteer. I also am a private tutor belive it or not. I was also a carer to my elderly neigbour who recently passed away. I also take care of my child, cook, proper food not microwave rubbish, clean. Due to working up the local Drop In Center my work from there carries with me home to written work, finding information and neigbours stopping me in the street or knocking my door for information on benefits, housing, debt and so on. Hence can I also add I am disabled with Multiple sclerosis,Ostioarthritis(excuse spelling).Yet I still manage to smile through the pain and help others in most areas this help is given totaly free. So is this phone any good for this stay at home mom as you put it? Yes it is well worth this lazy claim benefits/disabled mom having this phone. Let me see now? What do I use the phone for? Making calls, text messages. Oh FaceBook,Myspace,MSN,Yahoo,I can check on the forum were ever I go,surf internet. As I do computer repairs I usaly have to take with me a netbook, tool kit, body glove full of diffrent disks,my USB pen drives are always with me ready for those who stop me in the street and ask for a little bit of help. Hopefully I can connect to a persons internet via netbook if not I can use BlackBerry phone. It is cheaper for me to have the Blackberry with 700 mins free and 400 text messages free then in January I am going back to Virginmedia as Sky and BT combined is costing me an arm and a leg. The Blackberry with free calls and Virginmedia will work out cheaper. With all my free calls I can now make to my local customers is an excellent choice. So what use is my BlackBerry?I use it to make money. I also repair computers over MSN and Yahoo. No more friends waiting untill I arrive home to help them,I can help them on the go. FaceBook often is used for friends and neigbours to send me a PM requesting help and when can I call up or they pop down for a computer fix. I can connect via WIFI or internet. I have to say the internet on this phone is excellent speed. It also has word and excell on it.Which comes in handy to type up the minutes from our meetings up the Dropin Center. To save money you need to find the better cheaper options. To make money sometimes you have to spend a little of your own. Everytime someone needs me my phone makes a beep and I can check ASAP who needs me. It is more than just a mobile phone. For those like me who at times lead a very busy life it appears one of the best purchases I have made along with my self build computer and my Samsung NC10 netbook. It is not just used for me to make money on computer help given by me but also I have people who message me for usefull links, hence now again they do not have to wait for help I can send in seconds. Shall I go on and on on how good and usefull this phone is and I only had it a few days? Think of it this way? Can you imagine putting your computer and mobile phone all in your pocket with internet access? Well you can with the Blackberry phone. I is loving it.
  14. Hello Mike welcome to the forum. Yes that would be helpfull, post were you can offer help. Glad to have you aboard. JB.
  15. Mmmmm I will let the others input here I am not sure if that item will work or not.
  16. There is no adaptor. What make and model is your computer then that may help us help you.
  17. Hello house. Could you post make and model of your mother board and what graphics card you bought please? I am a little unsure of what you are trying to say.Do you mean the GPU will not slot in as the card seems a little tight on the back of the case? Or it simply will not fit the slot?
  18. Thanks Dalo. I bought a Krusell case for it so it can be clipped on a belt, bag etc.It basicaly covers the whole phone. Getting used to the phone and it is pritty good.
  19. Hello Trippy and welcome to the forum. Just giggling at the 800 mb HDD. Stick around I am sure you will find usefull information. JB.
  20. To remove user logon in XP home is as follows: Click Start and Run Type Control Userpasswords2 and press enter. Uncheck the box for "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." Click Apply and Ok. The correct command is in bold. Are you sure you are full admin/owner of the computer? If the computer is now having issues a system restore to before you made changes may help then try the above command in the run box.
  21. Your welcome, your first picture looked a little diffrent to my sensor. So it confused me a little. I would realy not bother with it anywere near the CPU but put on your HDD.
  22. To me it looks like a temp sensor. I think the link you posted from another forum the last post is correct. I am just checking this site for any information: CASECOM Technology: case, front panel,Power Supply,Construction,PC case Do you have LCD display on the front of your tower as this would show temp of your hard drive if you taped the wire to it. Still trying to check on the wire.
  23. Do you have a temprature gauge on the front of your computer? My case has one and it is possible that that wire is the temp sensor and can be placed on your CPU or hard drive, myne is on my hard drive as usaly mainboards have there own CPU temp sensor. Do not worry others will input. Wait for a second opinion. Do you have the case manual?
  24. Thankyou Dalo it arrived today. I found the disk supplied is only for information and a manual, all software needs to be downloaded.A bit of a pain as there appears a lot you can do with the smartphone. I paid some subscription so my emails can be downloaded. T-Moble seemed the cheapest option on contract,02 boltons pushed the price way up. My eyesite is terrible so a little hard to read the screen, but seems ok so far. Ordered a better case for it to protect it better than the small supplied one were the phone pushes into it and is a little difficult to remove.
  25. Calm down. You do not quit you just leave. You realy need to clam down and respect peoples diffrent opinions. If you wish to chat to another member of staff on your issues with authority then please do so.
