  1. I have not,;) I was not questioning your legit disk LOL.Just that some times when a disk is copied the burn speed can affect the software or it wasnt burnt as an ISO. Well your disk is fine. Ok if you took a DVD from your collection will it play in the drive? Do you more than one rom drive?
  2. Once above is done and you can now logon to windows. Shut down the Amilio and then restart and do the following: Solution: This hidden partition contains an image of the software preload. This image is part of a new recovery process called HDBR (Hard Disk Based Recovery). Pressing [F8] during the boot process the advanced Windows® start option will appear with the new option: "repair computer". Choosing this option a Windows Recovery Environment will be started. Additionally to the tools of MS Windows Vista itself you will find a Fujitsu Recovery Tool. This tool allows you to set the software of the computer back to the delivery state. If you delete the hidden partition this feature is no longer available. If you have the hidden partition which I think you do the above will recover your machine to factory reset but please remember all files will be lost.So back up and data you wish to save to an external hard drive or disks before you boot into recovery console. Also with the Fujitsu laptops once you have run the recovery you will get a popup window every time you logon to your computer saying to burn the recovery console to disk. I fully advise you to do this ASAP.
  3. Hello and welcome. Ahhh I see what they did. The BIOS has been set to boot from your network adaptor. Are you able to restart the machine and enter BIOS/Setup? That is restart and press F1 key. Locate Boot tab and set your boot order as follows: Hard drive. CD/DVD rom. Make your network adaptor Realtek the last one or turn it off so your machine will not boot from it,disable boot from LAN. Save and exit.

  9. Kathi does it show in "Computer"? Does it show in device manager? 10. You can download and save both AVG and CCleaner on another computer and transfer via a disk, floppy or USB pen drive to the problem computer. I rather think as you have had a lot of DLL errors your OS maybe corrupted. A system restore may help but you would loose files from today upto the system restore point you use.
  11. Hello there I am a little fuzzy headed today,I took a nap and woke fuzzied. I hope you are well today? Mmmmm ok have you tried the disk in another drive on another computer and see if it can be browsed? Do you have the XP install disk and try that in the same drive?Does the drive read the XP disk or does that also just spin? Is it a bought upgrade disk or a copy? Do you mean you want to keep XP and dual boot the system with Vista so you can logon to either OS as you wish? If you wish to dual boot I can certainly get you a good well know link to help you with that.
  12. Yes if you have the Vista disk. Are you able to open disk management and see if there is a partition there listed as D drive or another?
  13. I am afraid to say you will have to install these programs yourself. Did the PC guy do a full format of Windows 7 or an upgrade?
  14. Hey Trippy the issue is possibly the DVD drive needs to have its little plastic jumper set to master and then set it to first boot device via the BIOS and pop in Vista disk and save and exit. If you use the upgrade Vista disk on the new hard drive you will have to install an OS first such as XP.Then use the upgrade disk. Possible the DVD drive is old and not reconised by Vista,do you have another you could fit and try?
  15. Ok lets try a cleanup first and then see if you can download AVG again. Download and install : CCleaner - Home Once running highlight Cleaner Button on the left/Then click Analyze Button on the bottom right/Once done with Analyze click Run Cleaner Button.

  23. Hello and welcome. The first thing is to try removing the battery and see if it only works with the charger. Are there any lights on at all on the laptop? When you say light on the cable do you mean on the charger?
