  1. Hello and welcome. Although I am not a fan of Acer I would choose the Acer.
  2. Hello and welcome. What make and model is your mainboard?
  3. Hello Doctor and welcome. System restore.
  4. Hey Yes I will help you out Tootech. If we are talking about a movie that you purchased from a store and you wish to rip it to your hard drive and watch it then I am afraid we cannot help with this issue. It is against copyright laws and against forum rules. I see no problem in you popping in the DVD and watching it as other users would. JB.
  5. Any more info on the make and model babe?
  6. Hey Seth. All I can say it was not me,I am innocent.
  7. Oh that is excellent.
  8. That is excellent, let me know the results.
  9. Hello and welcome. Possibly incompatible RAM or the RAM is corrupt. Run this scanner on the machine and it will tell you what is compatible and how much can be added and how much each slot can hold. RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, flash cards, SSD at Crucial.com The possible issue is you say older machine. The machine may only be able to support machine sticks of RAM.As in 2 x 256 MB of same speed etc. The scanner will tell you.
  10. Your all up and running and back in Nans good books. Brilliant. If you need any advice you know were we are.
  11. Hello and welcome. My first question is have you connected the 4/8 pin power supply connection to the mainboard? It is located towards the back of the mainboard. Ok reduce the RAM to one stick and try again. You can test the system by removing the CD/DVD rom drives and hard drive, you do not need them to boot.
  12. I use cable ties,50p from B&Q for about 100 or maybe 200. I need a think. Everything is checking out so we is all scratching our heads.
  13. Ok just had a thought. When your playing the games leave the side off the computer and check all fans are spinning freely.
  14. Ohhh boy. Ok do you have a seprate sound card installed or any other PCI cards? Removal of these cards and test may root out an issue. Place one it at a time if the computer is fine without them in.And see if the problem then occurs. I think we are now down to testing hardware that could be the possible cause.
  15. Darn,I have pritty much run out of ideas now,I did chat with Tootech via PM on what he thought and thats all we could come up with. Hopefully someone else can input soon.
  16. Well all checks appear clear. I am with Tootech on the BIOS reset back to default.
  17. Yes it doe take ages I know.It is ok while it runs I am making lamb chilly. :) I have asked one of the guys to check through your thread and see if he can come up with further help for you.
  18. You are most welcome. Shhhh I am a miss lol.
  19. Ok I have asked my Geek mate up in England (England eeew) his opinion. I will see if he gets back to me as soon as. I have asked him his opinion on your CPU and graphics card.
  20. Have you always used the convertor.I dont trust them. If it is one of those you buy for a few quid they realy are not a good buy. I got one but only use it on a lower ended computer. Have you monitored your CPU usage during game play? Ok now your running Windows 7 and I am a little fuzzy on it. Have you run a Windows diagnostics on the system? Have you checked problem reports? What do you have DPI set to in Windows properties? Have you overclocked your RAM or the GPU?
  21. Nice monitor there,I am running dual 19 inch wide screens. You know I am going to question that your CPU maybe the issue. Your running a dual core 1.86/2 GHZ. Your temps are fine, you have plenty of RAM. We can rule out PSU. I am just checking the minimum requirements you need for this card. 3D Vision Requirements Do you have a better monitor you could use to test or lets say borrow a decent 22/24 inch from a friend for a few minutes just to test?
  22. Ok what CPU are you running? How much RAM? What make and model and size of monitor? Test your RAM: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool See if we can rule out an issue. Now I know your running a 1000 watt PSU however do you have another compatible one you could test the system with?
  23. Was the card fine and only messed up after power outage?
  24. That would be great. I still wish some of the boys would popin and help me here. Have you tried in NVIDIA Control panel to configure the card? Could you check event veiwer for any errors generated?
  25. Common fixes if not caused by Malware and a scan/cleanup is needed: This can usually be fixed by deleting the desktop.htt file: (it is a hidden file so you will need to change your "folder options" settings to allow the viewing. See* at bottom of thread.) 1. Start explorer 2. Move to %systemroot%\Profiles\<your username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer or C:/Documents and Settings/Your username/Application Data/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Desktop.htt 3. Select Desktop.htt and delete or rename it to Desktop.htt.old (Desktop.htt will be recreated) . Please note, it is only the specific file Desktop.htt that you are to rename/delete. Leave all other desktop.* alone. 4. Close Explorer 5. Right click on the desktop and choose Refresh If not yet fixed try changing your screen resolution back and forth or your Desktop Wallpaper: 1. Right click on your desktop 2. Select properties - settings tab 3. Change your screen resolution 4. Confirm by okay 5. Change the screen resolution to the desired setting 6. Confirm by okay http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm #16 Active Desktop - Enable or Disable #295 Lift Active Desktop Restrictions #402 Restore Active Desktop - IE7 Remove
