Unable to access internet
Jelly Bean replied to mattjacknine's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
The software install for the modem is only required once.It is not required to be installed on all computers. Also the disk is used only to setup the modem, after this initial setup you can connect the modem to any other computer and no need to install the software again. This could be a work group issue. Or the old BT software has not been uninstalled. An update of drivers via device manager on the laptop may help. Have you run the wireless setup wizard on both machines? Make and model of laptop and what OS it is running may help with resolving your issue. -
Using the full install disk if thats what you have: How do you perform a reinstallation of Windows XP, sometimes called a repair installation? Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer. Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer. 1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD. 2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen. 3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console. 4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement. 5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup. Also how do do a repair install from recovery console or recovery disk: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058

Oh thats not on,no one answered. Are you using a full install disk? Or a recovery disk? Or recovery console?

Maddie do you get these issues only when using the printer or when the printer is powered on? Now I asume your printer is USB and that your wireless keyboard is also USB.Now this would point me in the direction of possibly failing or damaged USB ports. Could you: Click start/right click on my computer and choose properties from the list/choose hardware tab/device manager/use the + box to open the USB list/do you see any yellow symbols listed there or anywere else in the main list?

How to become a computer expert.
Jelly Bean replied to Plastic Nev's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
That just reminds me of friends knowledge. You forgot to add huh? -
The first thing I would do is run a repair install. That message could be your OS is having issues and needs a repair install or it could be a virus. Attempt repair first.

Hello there. Oh you seem to be having a few problems there. Ok lets see if we can get you to do a few checks etc. Click start/and right click on my computer and choose properties/how much RAM do you have? Ok lets get you to do a disk cleanup: Click start/all prpgrams/accessories/system tools/disk cleanup/check all boxes and click ok. Open IE and click on tools/internet options and delete history, cookies and temp files. How much free space do you have on your hard drive? To manually change the size of virtual memory, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then press ENTER. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance click Settings. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Virtual memory click Change. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change. Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, type a new paging file size in megabytes (MB) in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set. Click OK to close the dialog box and apply changes. Try what I posted and see what happens and let me know babe. -

Skype headsets for Win 7
Jelly Bean replied to Cyprus Hector's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I sort of agree with Randy. I have done a search of this headset and found no downloads. I sugest you update your sound card driver via device manager while the headset is plugged in and on. This may kick in the headset and it should work.If you have Realtek HD audio control panel open it and you can configure the jacks from there.Right click on the colour jack in HD audio control panel and you can use a check box to ensure it is set for Headset. Have you also configured windows sound and checked all sliders are fully up and nothing is muted? HD Audio control panel if thats what you have also needs to be configured. If all else fails go to device manager and uninstall the driver for the sound card.Leave headset plugged in and functioning and then reboot your computer.Windows will reinstall the driver. -

The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code. It is in your best interest to note the following: Please disable your resident security applications (such as AVG, Spybot, WinPatrol, etc.) before performing the below procedure so that they do not interfere with the process. Perform all the steps in the order listed to avoid any conflicts. If unsure, please stop and voice your doubts. You might be required to go offline during the disinfection process. Therefore, it is recommended to print off the instructions below for ease of reference. Re-enable all your security applications and please return here and tell us how the computer seems to be operating. To get to this utility, open up Control Panel, and type in partition into the search box.. you’ll immediately see the link show up: http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/WindowsLiveWriter/ShrinkaPartitionforFreeinWindowsVista_ABC6/image04.png Shrink a Partition In the Disk Management screen, just right-click on the partition that you want to shrink, and select “Shrink Volume” from the menu. http://www.howtogeek.com/geekers/up/sshot-2009-08-27-15-50-21.png In the Shrink dialog, you will want to enter the amount you want to shrink by, not the new size. For example, if you want to shrink your 50gb partition by roughly 10gb so that it will now be roughly 40gb, enter 10000 into the box: http://www.howtogeek.com/geekers/up/sshot-2009-08-27-15-56-05.png Extend a Partition In the Disk Management screen, just right-click on the partition that you want to shrink, and select “Extend Volume” from the menu. http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/WindowsLiveWriter/ShrinkaPartitionforFreeinWindowsVista_ABC6/image08.png On this screen, you can specify the amount that you want to increase the partition by. In this case, I’m going to extend it back to the roughly 50GB size that it was before.

What does it show in disk management? Are you able to resize the partition there?
