  2. Hey there, the first thing I would be checking is cables and connections. Then check to see if it is a temp issue: SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer
  3. You will have to open "My Computer" and right click on the USB pen drive and choose format. Then from drop down list choose NTFS not FAT 32. Then format and try loading files again.
  4. Excellent idea RandyL. You would have to be welsh to understand this song. It is the welsh national anthem. I dedicate this to all the welsh soldiers lost in battle through the years. Both men and women who have lost there lives, been injured and those who are still at war in Iraq. Our thoughts are with both the british and American forces posted out in Iraq. Land of my Fathers. God bless you all. Another of my favs.
  5. Ooops did I forget about this one? Ok are you refering to cleanup the grub boot?
  6. Hello and welcome. My first question to you is did you burn the OS as an ISO file?
  7. Hey Dave and thankyou RandyL. That is brilliant Dave,Vista is annoying and Katie would not be the first to worry about loss of space. If you need any further help we will be pleased to help you. JB.

  9. This is a wide spread issue. No fix has been fully given by MSN. All I can sugest is possibly uninstall it and reinstall.
  10. Yes 4 gig should be fine. And yes it can be changed back if you wish to. Yes hopefully the dissapearing space should stop.
  11. Hello and welcome. I am not sure of the issue that has caused this at the moment. You say the issue occured because of a software install? What was the software? Have you tried a system restore to before you installed this problem software?
  12. Hey I was once a total noobie. In mid 2006 I could not plug in a mouse never mind were the power cable went or how to turn the computer on.If it was not for a few books, the internet and forums like this one I would of proberly still be struggling with a computer that I could not turn on. So now I spend my time helping others who need the help and I soooooooo enjoy doing so.I could talk about computers all day,mmm no wonder I have no friends lol. :D Ok back to question. No no need to uninstall the graphics driver just download and run the new one.Do not forget to then download ATI Catalyst. During graphics card install the computer will reboot and then you can set your resolution etc.
  13. Ok I did a bit of a search on this and I found one thing is do you have the latest service pack 2 installed? Also to run chkdsk /r on the hard drive in elivated admin. STOP 0x00000024 (NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM) This stop code indicates the NTFS file system driver encountered a situation it could not handle, and is almost always caused by 3 things: Data corruption on the disk Data corruption in memory The system completely running out of memory (this typically only happens on heavily-loaded servers) Things to check:</SPAN> 1 Reseat the memory and all drive data cables to eliminate data corruption issues stemming from poorly or improperly seated hardware. 2 Run a complete memory and hard drive diagnostic. The quick test will not be thorough enough here. You need to run the full system diagnostic. 3 If those diagnostics pass, run a full file system check from the Recovery Console (chkdsk /f /r) to detect and (potentially) fix any corrupted data. 4 If none of the above solves the issue, reinstall Windows. 5 If that does not fix the issue, replace the hard drive.
  14. Hello and welcome. The simplist way to rectify this would be a system restore. Click start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore. Follow the instructions but pick a date to just before the toolbar was installed. The computer will reboot during the process.
  15. Hello and welcome. Please do not appoligies for being dyslexic I have a nephew who is and he does perfectly well in college with me as his home tutor.I understand your post perfectly well. Ok firstly I would like to ask is your XP on the computer FAT 32 or NTFS? Then I would like to ask is the USB pen drive formatted to FAT 32 or NTFS? You can simply check this by plugging in the USB pen drive and open disk defragmentation.
  16. Hello New Guy and thankyou for your kind words.
  17. Your very welcome and it is a pleasure to help you. Ok I never download Microsoft drivers for my graphics card I always go to the manufacturer website. Graphics Drivers & Software I always found Microsoft drivers messed up my system on a GPU driver. The error maybe due to you need SP2. Oh noo he says not another SP. Some hardware drivers will not update or install if you do not have the latest service pack installed. What a pain Microsoft is,a realy long process just to get us up and running.
  18. Oh your looking good to go. In nans good books is the biggest issue to overcome. But I still just think this was a Vista issue and your not to blame. Oh gosh lazy bones. :D UK Ireland Extended Keyboard Layout for Windows 2000/XP This can also be considered more for an Apple keyboard as in Qwerty. Oh the windows updates take forever and I have been known to have over 100 at a time on other peoples computers.
  19. Hello and welcome. I am staying with Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit and 64 bit,I have never had any issues with Vista. :D
  20. If you have the reinstall disk then a full format and reinstall is the easiest way.
  21. Use the tool AFTER you have uninstalled it from add and remove.
  22. I would stick to the 1 gig sticks. I hope this is not a slot on the mainboard issue. Nothing seems to give you a correct result. A BIOS update may help or even loading defaults in BIOS,have you ever overclocked the system? Have you checked RAM timings in the BIOS?
  23. Mmmmmm I thought one of the boys would of chipped in with help by now. Ok videos often need Adobe Flash player update, have you updated Java? Lets see if there is any file association corruption. Right click on command prompt and choose run as Admin. Type in sfc /scannow and hit enter on your keyboard let it run and see if it comes up clean. Control panel>administrative tools>event viewer>application for any error report. also, video editing programs consumes a lot of cpu and memory.wat is ur system specification?do u try updating vegas.. I also suspect a plugin maybe an issue. Also possible cause is some types of videos you are playing. Try this: Open regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box and browse down to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/enableprefetcher.png Find the EnablePrefetcher key on the right-hand pane, and change the value to one of these: Disable Caching: 0 Cache Applications Only: 1 Cache Boot Files Only: 2 Cache Everything (default): 3 You’ll have to restart your computer before this takes any effect. You could consider clearing out the \Windows\Prefetch folder after making this change to start with a fresh cache, but keep in mind that the next boot will probably be slower since Windows will have to cache everything again.
  24. That is excellent, thankyou for the picture. Ok lets try msconfig. Click start and type in search box msconfig. Under startup tab uncheck items not required for startup. I noticed you have Cyberlink there.Daemon tools.iTunes.quicktime. Uncheck boxes that are not windows key proccesses and click apply then restart the computer. These could be items like MSN,Yahoo, printer software and so on. Then check your memory usage. And also check running proccesses again. http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/memory-issues/7172-memtest86-run.html
