Yay fantastic Starbuck mentioned this a while ago in a mail , great to be back

I also have a Asus so just to add to KenB's post pressing the fn ( function key ) along with f9 will stop the touchpad working, so along with a wireless mouse as Ken suggested hopefully that would solve your problem.

my 1st pc build. started to freeze!!!
Armageddon replied to dalepicks's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi Dale and Nev , Hope you don't mind me butting in , but am wondering if the following would work I have used it myself to repair SFC errors on a Win 8 system. 1) Open up an elevated command prompt (cmd with admin rights) 2) Type in "sfc /scannow" without quotes, and hit enter. Windows will check for and attempt to repair any corrupt files. If SFC /scannow is unable to fix some of the corrupted files 1) Open up an elevated command prompt (cmd with admin rights) 2) Type in "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" without quotes, and hit enter. Windows will now download and replace any corrupt files. If you re-run SFC /scannow after you perform these steps, you will notice that it won't find any integrity violations, which means that all corrupt Windows files are fixed. Hope this helps Dave -

Hi Bob I will be happy to walk you through this , a couple of questions though. 1, Just incase are you 100% certain your pictures etc are backed up ? 2, Doing this will retain all your data in the C:/ users folder , so for example C;/users/bob/pictures will be safe. Right on to running the recovery itself , firstly make sure usb sticks and drives etc are unplugged before commencing , then follow this set of instructions Switch on the PC. Press the corresponding key when you see the message "Press F11 to run recovery" or "Press F12 to run recovery". After a few seconds, the message "Windows is loading files" will appear. Wait until the files are loaded. The "Power Recover" menu will then appear. Select the language of the restoration menu. Click on "Next". You may now choose between two forms of restoration: Restore to HDD – no backup of user data All data on the PC are irretrievably erased, restoring delivery condition. Restore to HDD – with backed up user data (This is the one you need) Delivery condition is restored and all user data under C:\User are preserved. Warning! When using the option with backed up user data, the restoration procedure takes a long time. Data are only preserved if they are located in the C:\user folder. Click on Next and follow the further instructions, which will appear on the screen, to restore the Computer . Any further questions Bob or if I can explain further please give me or any of the team a shout.

Hi KenB , Bob Sorry for butting in was just wondering , could a non-destructive recovery be done using the recovery on the HDD , thus keeping files etc in place , then updating to SP1 as normal

Computer maker Lenovo has been forced to remove hidden adware that it was shipping on its laptops and PCs after users expressed anger. The adware - dubbed Superfish - was potentially compromising their security, said experts. The hidden software was also injecting adverts on to browsers using techniques more akin to malware, they added. Lenovo faces questions about why and for how long it was pre-installed on machines - and what data was collected. The company told the BBC in a statement: "Lenovo removed Superfish from the preloads of new consumer systems in January 2015. At the same time Superfish disabled existing Lenovo machines in the market from activating Superfish. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31533028

Hi H2O give this a whirl this will reset all broswers and remove any junk if theres any there Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop. Close all open programs and internet browsers. Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool. Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. Click on the Scan button. AdwCleaner will begin to scan your computer. After the scan has finished... Click on the Clean button. Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts. Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process. After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[s0].txt) will open automatically. Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply. A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder. -
