Armageddon replied to mike's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Just wanna add my two cents to this and I know it's been mentioned but anti staic bands or grounding yourself is a must , I forgot I had a wooly jumper on when blowing out the dust etc from one of my machines one fizzling sound later and bye bye motherboard now if I had remembered I wouldnt have had to replace the motherboard and rebuild -

Hi Richard am guessing you ordered you card online , then under Distance Selling Regulations you are entitled to a refund on your postage , and good luck with getting it replaced. Dave -
Hi Pete for what I read after a bit of research , I-Play search engine is a pain to shift like something similair called mywebsearch , luckily a couple of quick scans using malware removal tools should do the trick. Please follow the following Instructions and post the logs on your next reply Step 1 Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop. Make sure you are connected to the Internet. Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked: Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware [*]Then click Finish. [*]MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. [*]On the Scanner tab: Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. [*]If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. [*]The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. [*]When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found". [*]Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process. [*]Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found. [*]Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. [*]When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below) [*]The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM. [*]Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM. Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. Step 2 Download and Install Supaantispyware from here SupaAntispyware let it update and run a scan and reboot after completion. Hope this helps Dave

Hi again Alimay do you know how to run the factory reset ? if you provide us with the make of the laptop we can help , and secondly make sure you run whats sometimes called a "destructive" restore basically a fancy way of saying return to factory default , and not just recovering the operating system , best of luck let us know how you get on. Dave

Hi again Alimay since the laptop is only a few weeks old , and was demo model i'd suggest a full return to factory settings reset , the software used by the shop to create the logon etc will then be gone , ( this is what the shop should have done before selling it to you ) if you want to go down that route get back to us we will be happy to help .

Hi Patrick I have multiple screens pc's one of them been 2 dvis and a hdmi monitor i run them on on a quad core with 6 gig of ram , as far as the graphics card itself its a 1 gig AMD card that cost me £50 , so if your willing to invest £250 on a graphics card personally I don't think you'll have any problems. Hi Jay and welcome to freepchelp only thing I could suggest is you downgrade Java to Java 6 update 30 , as I see your running Java 7 even though Java 7 has reached update 2 it's still in development stages , give that a whirl and see how you get on

Hi again all you have to do is boot from that disk and wait when it comes up try or install ubuntu click on the try this will run ubuntu in "live" mode when its up and running plug in your drive wait for it to be recognised to access your files , when you have done that and removed what you need , unplug your drive press the laptop power button once this will shut ubuntu down remove the cd when it tells you and restart your laptop boot back into windows plug in your drive go back to disk management and reformat your drive

I have a old Dell 1.5 gig dual core 12.1 inch screen netbook/laptop that I dual boot with windows 7 ultimate and Pinguy OS , and the only time I get a problem with streaming is if the dongle at work is slow , the rest of my pc's/laptops are at a spec where I don't need to worry -

Hi again personally i'd suggest linux mint or zoriun os you can google there websites and download the operating system then burn to a dvd then boot up from that dvd (live) this wont effect your windows in anyway , then plug in the usb drive and move your data to your harddrive before reformatting any problems get back to us , and zorin os looks very much like windows so its easy to use
