1. Am gonna take a guess when you get into disk management the drive will be there and in the RAW file format , if it is all is not lost what I'd suggest is running a Linux distro from a live cd plug in the drive remove all data then reformat. ( I had the same problem yesterday )
2. Hi Just to add further I personally use @ctive killbits to wipe a hard drive , it will clean the drive but leave the operating system intact , but be careful if you make a mistake and it takes a while too, and depending on the age of the Dell system do you have a recovery partition ? you could reset back to factory settings
3. Seems the websites hosting service was yes and I have to pay extra but get the connection and initial set up for free, taking me from 6mbs to a guaranteed 20+ mbs
4. Is your clock set to the right time ? , I have had this problem when i reset bios and didn't put the time right .
5. Just a update , I contacted the websites owner , and solved the problem which is great , and TalkTalk are upgrading me to there fibre optic service too woo hoo
6. I agree Ken , if I use my mobile broadband dongle I can connect to the website , I might give ipconfig / release and renew a go see if that works and get back to you
7. Hi Guys Very rarely does a problem have me stumped , but this one has I use Distrowatch alot , but for the last 2 days I cannot access it from any of my pc's both wired and wirelessly , on any browser or any of the 7 operating systems I use , I have spent 2 hours on the phone with TalkTalk to no avail. Now if I use hotspot shield to change my IP I can connect to the website without problems , so I was wondering if you guys have any ideas I have re-set the router and all browsers and no joy , combofix , malwarebytes etc all come back clean , and anyway I face the problem on my Linux systems which points me to a network issue. so again any thoughts/ideas will help thank you.
8. I agree with Ken , I would run a Malwarebytes scan as a minimum before doing a system restore , or wait for one of the security guys to take a look and give the OK .
9. Hi gemstone , just one question for now, why are you downgrading to windows 95 ?
10. Graphics running at 110c is very very hot , could you run speccy again just while doing normal everyday computing ?
11. found from another site , have you tried this

Many Internet Explorer (IE) users have experienced problems recently as a result of updates that Microsoft made to IE. Some people have been able to resolve their problems by taking the following steps: 1. In IE, press the Alt key to display the main menu bar. 2. Click “Tools and choose Compatibility View Settings.” 3. Remove google.com from the big text box 4. Remove the check marks from the 3 check-boxes under the text box. 5. Restart IE.
12. Hi in Kens absence , and if the drive has been recognized by your mums laptop I'd suggest first things first and run a full Malwarebytes scan, we can then go from there. Sorry Ken didnt think you was here
13. if the drive reads ok after chkdsk has been run , could i suggest changing the laptops cd/dvd drive since it wont read , I have done this in the past with a very very old Toshiba laptop and a IDE drive I managed to borrow

19. I'd have to agree with all posts on removing the drive for tests and data removal , on another note if hard drive passes all tests and the stop code persists and a windows disk isn't available may I suggest a linux based os , one of the easy ones that will get you back computing till a windows disk can be sourced , Zorin linux looks and works like windows 7 and probably the easiest to use in my opinion.
20. Hi Dave I have a friend running a stripped down XP System running on 64mb of ram and a 6gb hard drive yes this works but its only the basics , it does get her online and on msn etc and she's happy personally though I agree with KenB's comments on having at least 512mb of ram
