I have one guy that pays me a flat fee however long it takes per pc he has had a multitude of problems in the past all because he wants " to know how it works " eventually after 4 visits in 5 days to sort him out I got him a very old system for him to mess with so he didnt break his main pc and lo and behold he still manages it to this day

I think you need to change your default program for opening office documents to Open office since your using 7 go to the search type default programs click on set my defaults then the open office icon and set is as default that should sort it

Can I donate any other way apart from pay pal ? I'd like to cos I do get paid from time to time for pc help/repair I'd like to maybe put a percentage of that into helping keep this place running I know I only been here a few day's but it feels like home

have you tried booting into safe mode with networking and then going to device manager and updating your graphics driver

ok how about a full reset of internet explorer to return it to its defaults and trying that here's how Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Internet Explorer. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset. Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, and InPrivate Filtering data. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset. When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click Close, and then click OK. Close Internet Explorer. Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer. you will have to reset your home page etc but hopefully that will work

Would opening up the case and removing the lead from the motherboard to the card reader be a possiibility Casswilf ?
