  1. Ok 4 slots for the RAM to occupy yes - try 1 stick ONLY in the slots one at a time - see what happens so 1 stick of RAM in 1st DIMM then 2ND then 3RD etc
  2. Try taking one of the RAM sticks out - or swapping the Channels etc - the board does support PC5300 (667Mhz) so thats ok. Hmmm, the 4 pin ATX connector is tight??
  3. Can you list the CPU and the MOBO for me also whether you are using a stock cooler or another type and who fitted it etc - did they use thermal compound or was it pre-installed on the Heatsink - have you checked that the Heatsink is firmly in place *by this I mean give it a very very slight wobble* anything more can cause damage
  4. There are 'hot keys' for laptops to recognise an external monitor - it's usually - FN (Function ;)) and one of the F keys
  5. Sounds like the Graphics card - Can you list what you have bought including the CPU, MOBO, RAM, PSU etc. Also are you 100% sure that you have connected the case wires properly on the Motherboard - they can be fiddly and hard to see the -/+ on some of them - just double check that they are in the right way and list back the parts please :)
  6. Thats the hardest game I have ever played after about 30 goes it went out the window once lol
  7. When you do a reinstall of an OS - you should always do so in this order:- 1 OS and any available service packs 2 MOBO drivers 3 GPU drivers Any other combo and you can get some serious issues, if you do go down the compressed air route - always use short bursts. For a GPU/CPU fan a paintbrush will more than suffice for cleaning the heatsink if you cannot get to any compressed air ;)
  8. Hi Natalie, Welcome to FPCH :)
  9. Lol at the grannies comment - I do agree that it's a sad state of affiars - I once saw a couple in their early twenties in a pub with their kid in a pushchair (must have only been 1 or 2 years old) and they were both wasted and the baby was screaming to high heaven - I am in that age bracket and I have kids and would never dream of doing that to my child. They should be ashamed of themselves
  10. You are more than welcome mate - Tony I will research the matters posted above as I do not have an answer as to why they are labelled ADSL and CABLE only routers. There must be a massive difference otherwise they would as you say be interchangeable
  11. I would highly recomment looking at an AV program like AVAST - in terms of free versions its much stronger than AVG
  12. You need the XBOX dongle - they were about £40-£50 last time I saw one I think - I am not sure if you can just get away with a USB PC one.
  13. Hi Steve, Welcome to FPCH, I am sure you will enjoy your stay with us :)
  14. Thought he said about just using the CD's and in the later posts you mentioned make sure they are Windows and not Mac - me missing stuff on posts (surely not lol :D)
  15. Right get the driver from here Epson Stylus DX4400 : Drivers & Software and see if this one works ;)
  16. Lol - I like that one :D
  17. 57 secs is not bad at all and glad that you have the 2GB ;) Glad its all sorted :)
  18. 1280x768 seems wrong to me should be either 1280x1024 or 1024x768
  19. http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/WindowsLiveWriter/DetectandRepairOffice2007Applications_10F07/office%20diagnostics.png The Microsoft Office Diagnostics splash screen will open. Click Continue. http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/WindowsLiveWriter/DetectandRepairOffice2007Applications_10F07/office%20diagnostics_2.png Next you are presented with the Start Diagnostics Screen showing you what is going to be checked and the status of each diagnostic. When you are ready click Run Diagnostics. http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/WindowsLiveWriter/DetectandRepairOffice2007Applications_10F07/office%20diagnostics_3.png While the Diagnostics run you will see the status bars as each tests completes. When it's complete hit Continue. http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/WindowsLiveWriter/DetectandRepairOffice2007Applications_10F07/office%20diagnostics_5.png You will get a limited detail of what was fixed. In this example all 5 diagnostic tests ran and one problem was identified and fixed. If you ok with that just close out and you are done. If you want to get additional information click on "Detailed results". http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/WindowsLiveWriter/DetectandRepairOffice2007Applications_10F07/office%20diagnostics_6.png When you look close at the detailed information in this example you can see there was a problem with the installation and this tool automatically fixed it. http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/WindowsLiveWriter/DetectandRepairOffice2007Applications_10F07/office%20diagnostics_7.png Unfortunately for an administrator or power user this utility "as is" does not display specific results (you need to do more digging ). However when you are in a hurry and need your applications up and running to finish your work Microsoft Office Diagnostics works great! http://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/WindowsLiveWriter/DetectandRepairOffice2007Applications_10F07/office%20diagnostics_final.png
  20. You say its not opening - are the lights on the front on (have you ever seen them on?) Might be the Molex connector for the power has come loose inside the PC.

  23. Ok found this Problems with Error Code 0x00000024? You may have to go into safe mode to do this - when the PC boots there will be a black screen at the bottom it will tell you how to enter SAFE MODE it's normally F8 or F12
  24. Ok I have just looked at mine on the control panel (and mine is the globe with the notepad and 3 ticks) I am running Vista SP1 it is for internet options ONLY - not for accessing the internet itself to get the icon to use the internet goto "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" and then make a shortcut to the desktop
