  1. encoding programs use lots of resources - how much RAM (memory) do you have in your system as this will alleviate some of the stress on the CPU
  2. If you just want to use Itunes then you don't have to use it - but it is a library software really - so it's up to you
  3. Hi Shrimply and welcome back - the 'MB VGA TW3M' sounds like the onboard graphics?? anyway glad its all sorted and more importantly data intact :)
  4. We are not questioning your integrity Steve - as I have previously posted please do not take it the wrong way when we refuse to offer advice on certain programs we do this for a reason and the same rules apply to everyone at FPCH. Have a read of my replies to your posts and let me know if there are any other issues.
  5. Your Welcome and thanks for letting others know about us :)
  6. Hi Matt, Welcome to FPCH seeing as though none of them are recognising anything - have you changed anything in the system at all since moving the PC? The external one is USB yes? - when you plug it in (when Windows has booted) bottom right should do the found new hardware and hardware is ready to use etc, does it do all that?
  7. some onboard graphics motherboards do have slots for add in GPU cards - but as you say yours is old I very much doubt it. you will need to invest in a new MOBO.
  8. I did not mean it in the fact that you have to explain yourself Steve, please understand that we do not give advice on software like this for the specific reason in that 'it is/can be used for illegal activities' we can help on other matters - If you are getting a constant audio sync problem then try reinstalling windows media player and see if that cures the problem - other than that as I previosly posted try and limit the amount of programs you use when using the media players as they use lots of CPU and GPU power.
  9. If you have ESET firewall disable McAfee and Windows Firewalls
  10. Ok we seem to have a few issues here - but our main concern here is:- I burn a lot of dvds with ConvertX to dvd programme I play a downloaded dvd I don't want to go into the legalities of this but we cannot offer help on the above matters. From what you have posted in regards to the other issues it sounds like your GPU (graphics card) is struggling to keep up, and your CPU is 'throttling' which basically means working at full load and maxing it's own Cache.
  11. If you have more than one AV or Firewall program they conflict - ONLY EVER RUN ONE OF EACH.
  12. I will not lower myself :o Maynard - I will get you back as always :D
  13. I dont know  - I am the youngest :(
  14. Hi Steve, welcome to free pc help - in regards to the decline of braincells - nothing like sticking your wet fingers in a pc to rejolt some of them back to life :D ^^ not for the feint hearted
  15. There are some instances of McAfee that you should remove I have put them in bold, other than that you have lots of AOL tasks running and BT Voyager ones too - most of them are probably unneccessary but I doubt would cause any major issues:- FYI - AOL do take over your system with all the stuff they put on your PC, just be weary of installing things from ISP's
  16. Did you read the number 8 post :D I know you find it hard to keep up with us 'youngens' Maynard
  17. Is the hills have eyes on the list?
  18. After going back and looking at the pictures you posted the right side jumper looks lose - this is common with jumpers that manufacturers now use - I replace all mine with old ones from CDROM drives as they are a much tighter fit - may explain why the rear never worked, until you removed them? I myself once spent about 2 hours on a pc that kept reposting the BIOS just because of lose jumpers :( Glad its all sorted :)
  19. Deadly silence from Maynard :p (happens very little :D)
  20. Also depending on what you are doing (games and full screen apps) Always set the refresh rate to 59Hz rather than 60Hz - if you have it set to 60 and it drops below this amount the monitor will appear to power down. if you set it to 59 and it drops below that - it will not power down ;)
  21. And how about other galaxies or universes DSTM?
  22. ok then remove the jumpers and follow the instructions on the little sticker for the pins - just make sure you get the ground ones right ;)
  23. those full set of pins are just for the front. the second picure is also upside down in regards to the pins that the diagram shows
  24. The front audio, I personally never connect they make the pc look untidy and are useless for most people. The blue bits on the pins look like jumpers to me and they basically create a circuit between the pins.
  25. Some laptops will power through the mains without the battery in, but most do not. it could be a number of things from overheating to the cable and the battery, I would say the most common is the battery on laptops. some etailers have good discounts on getting the battery and a replacement cable pack. I would also buy some compressed air and give it a blast in small bursts just to clear the dust out of there.
