  1. ok np. I would recommend getting an add in card if you use the PC for games and movies as they are much better and higher quality. The Creative Soundblaster X-FI Extreme Gamer is the best one to get for games and movies and you can pick an OEM one for around £40 I think ;)
  2. Glad to hear it :D I hope that the BIOS update was a windows based one - the DOS ones are a pain in the a*se unless you have done them before :)
  3. Overclocking components works differently on different MOBO's. I 'personally' would not OC unless you know that all the components are up to it, and more importantly you have the cooling to handle it. As for the SATA cables - you can make a SATA2 drive compatible for SATA1 via the jumper on the back, the only difference I have seen in the cables is that the SATA2 ones 'lock' into place. OCZ 600 watt PSU - NO get the Corsair ones they are made by Seasonic ;) are you using an add on card for the SATAs or the MOBO - the error is pointing at the controller. If you are overclocking then the controller is on the MCH and you will be overclocking that for your GPU - if you have clocked it too high you may have burn the controller out and I hope for your sake this is not the case as you will be needing a new MOBO :(
  4. Have you actually 'paired' the device - some MS keyboards and mice you need to press and hold a button on one of each to get them to synchronise - if this is not done they will not work after a 'designated' amount of time. have you tried reinstalling the USB port drivers that 'should' be on your MOBO disk? When installing Software from the MOBO disk on a new build it should always be in this order:- 1* OS and any service packs 2* MOBO drivers 3* GPU drivers any other combination and you can be looking at some serious compatibility issues.
  5. Hi Kikouno Right, have you uninstalled the audio drivers in add/remove programs - I would not recommend getting Nforce drivers from NVIDIA as they can lead to some major problems - get them from the MOBO manufacturer. (only the other day I was saying the opposite for GPU's :D) Anyway, if you remove the audio drivers and reboot windows it should pick them up. I am a bit confused from reading some of the other posts - this is onboard and not an add in card?? IF you run a seperate card you HAVE to make sure you disable the onboard in the BIOS or this again will give problems -
  6. Goku trust me when I say the guys at widescreengaming forum know what they are doing ;)
  7. Next time you get a problem like this I would look at your Ethernet drivers rather than the PC or firewall - this is a common problem and is easily overlooked.
  8. The company has just announced its financial results for the second quarter of this year, in which the company reports a net loss of $1.189 billion, or $1.96 per share. As a point of comparison, AMD posted a net loss of $600 million US for the same period last year.
  9. Basically the wife said fix it or your on the couch - glad it's fixed and you won't get a sore back/face lol
  10. I would say not for general public - would have thought it would be useful for CAD users etc
  11. Could be a number of reasons - glad it's all sorted :)
  12. Go to Adobe's site, download the uninstaller for Flashplayer, & download the Flashplayer version 9 standalone installer, & do that, see if that works.
  13. There are more than 1 PC Power option setting you must change all of them to what Maynard said - or make 100% sure the one you are using is the one you have changed.
  14. http://www.windowsdevcenter.com/windows/2004/10/12/graphics/connectingcpufan.jpg There will be a slot on the Motherboard that says CPU like in the picture above - did you edit the BIOS in anyway - as there are many options in there for controlling the fan speeds
  15. Ocelot :) as in revolver - you know metal gear solid (old skool games rule)
  16. Hmm - sounds very 'hush, hush' to me, he may well stay on the board of directors, but how much input will he be giving ;) as for the egg sandwich and bus fair - lol, more like caviar and bentleys ;)
  17. Wolfey did you not read lol - they have no money lol I would be more interested in where he goes to - VIA anyone??
  18. Mwha ha ha - my predictions are coming true......... http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/fpch-polls/2549-favorite-manufacturer-vote-now.html#post15939
  19. AMD has been faltering for quite a while now, and though recently the Radeon HD series has made a bit of a bang, times have still been tough. The purchase of ATI set them back seriously in financial terms, and the continued losses to Intel in the CPU market hasn't been any help. As a result, the CEO of AMD has opted to “take responsibility” for the decline of the tech giant and is stepping down.
  20. If you installed Firefox 3 since its release, you may have noticed that Mozilla issued an update for the browser today. The update wasn't major, fixing a small list of security flaws and bugs discovered since it was released. Mozilla Firefox 3.0.1 Release Notes
  21. It 'should' still use the normal Vista drivers to work, but seeing as though you have the 64bit OS I doubt the company did a driver for your mouse in 64bit - there are not many games or programs that are equipped and optimized for 64bit OS and even if they are you need a hefty GPU and CPU to see any real difference - for the benefits you see in a 64bit OS which at the moment is only being able to use more than 3.75GB RAM, I would seriously consider getting a 32bit OS. Yes it will cost money but you will encounter no where near as many problems as you are at the moment and the system will be much more stable. ;)
  22. I would guess the problem is more your 64bit OS as posted in previous posts 64bit OS do not have 'many compatible' drivers :(
  23. When you are saying the fan goes mental?? did you knock the CPU fan wire next to the RAM slots - make sure it is still in place, if the fan is very loud then the CPU is getting hot and it will be that that is cutting out - check the heatsink on the CPU is still firmly in place.
  24. Here’s a card that will be of little use to those with a 32-bit operating system - there is no reason why you would need a card with so much RAM and lets be honest, is aimed more at the enthusiast under the illusion more is better, even in 2-3 years I doubt this will be useful. Overkill?? in a word YES. PowerColor working on 2GB Radeon HD 4850
  25. Outlook has a Solution Centre - do you have some remnants of MS Office. is it a blueish box that comes up on the bottom right above the task tray area??
