  1. ok - go into the BIOS and set the first boot device to CDROM (disable all the other options like 2nd,3rd etc) then save and exit the BIOS (usually F10) when that is done it should reboot and start the process again, if it keeps rebooting let us know.
  2. you need to go into whatever firewall you are using - I am guessing now you are just using the router - go to the routers home page and get onto the main screen, there are some options for port forwarding and blocking - it will tell you whats open and whats not.
  3. What injuries have people had from working on PC's you cannot include:- Husband or Wife/Partner beating you for ignoring them :D Mine was a heat pipe injury on my old GPU - was very overclocked and I touched it by mistake  (when off) it peeled some skin off my thumb
  4. From the sounds of it you need to do a fresh install - sometimes when using the repair console this happens - you would lose all your data so bear this in mind before you decide.
  5. Evaluation version:- WinZip® - Download Evaluation Page
  6. Any news/updates TruePredator?
  7. Cant do mine from here - but will do my gaming one later ;)
  8. It will be in the overclocking options depending on the MOBO - 3 hours and no crash  - it could just be down to the ambient temps in your room the pc is in - If the room is cool in the morning then you may be able to play longer than say in the afternoon. I cannot see the pics you posted from my current location - the RAM for the GPU is underneath there are 5 or 6 small black squares - that's them - you may not be able to get to them with the stock cooler on - but air blowing over/under the card will definately help :D
  9. uninstall the old driver manually if they are not on the add or remove - go to C:/ nvidia and there will be some files with numbers 168.00, 172.00 etc if there is more than one folder with a number on they are ALL older ones - if you click into the latest one - highest number then there is an uninstall option in their. get NVIDIA clean up utility too and run that - it will get rid of all the older remnants of drivers - reboot and install the latest one ;)
  10. Quaytec - 512 'should be enough for just browsing etc and running apps' if you press CONT+ALT+DEL then task manager, if you click on processes is that the only one using lots of resources?
  11. Did the install finish?? or did it just get to the point of reboot and then carried on over and over - when it has completely installed you need to set the first boot device BACK to HDD
  12. 230 Watt is shockinglly low for a PSU anyway - but just done some research and the 2600 pro only uses between 30-60 Watts at Full 3D:eek: (depending which manufacturers card you got) As Adanced has said if you are just getting this problem on COD4 then this must be specific to that game - You could try upping the refresh rate on the RAM - if you are using 4GB of RAM then the settings should be 5-5-5-15-42 you can try 5-5-5-15-52 and see if that helps - your RAM may not be refreshing fast enough for COD4 - *make sure you remember what the original setting was before you change it in the BIOS*
  13. I will not be on then but someone else may be able to help - if not then I will reply around 8:40am in the morning.
  14. What CPU are you running?? - do you have a fan blowing over the GPU - or do you have the massive standard noisy thing they strap on? I put the Thermaltake HR03 I think it was on mine and boy what a difference - no longer sounds like a Vantec Tornado fan lol If the temps on the card get too high the picture will distort (like yours) and the BIOS shuts the computer down to prevent damage - Give the GPU a clean and make sure that the fan is clear of dust - I know its hard with the cooler they put in but worth a try. :) Can you also please state the Make of the RAM as you state you have 4GB - you may need to up the voltage and the timings - the MCH voltage controls the GPU and the RAM
  15. It could be a lack of Power, but you will not have all the settings maxed on Crysis and get decent FPS - the ONLY card that can play CRYSIS smooth at 1680x1050 is the 9800GX2 and that is far beyond any of the Radeons - I have a 2900XT and even that cant do full at 1680x1050 :( I saw the post you put on youtube and I have only seen things like that when the game is either:- Not got the newest patches Overclocked (heat issues on the GPU) or the DDR4 mem on the GPU has had it. Forget what the site says 400 is a VERY high amount - like I say my 2900XT doesn't use more than 300 on MAX
  16. winzip should open the file then - I am stumped if you are doing what I said previous and right clicking on the file and then selecting open with - and then searching and using winzip
  17. Have you set the first boot device in the BIOS to CDROM
  18. Ok right click the file you are trying to open and select properties - tell us 'the type of file'
  19. Hi Bill and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help - you are only as old as you feel :D
  20. Ok right click on the winzip file you are trying to open - there will be an option saying open with......click that and select winzip.
  21. The keys are governed by the MOBO manufacturer but as Maynard has said when you boot the PC up it will say - press .........to enter BIOS
  22. do you have winzip - download the free version - thats what opens zipped files
  23. Brunoalan - for obvious reasons we cannot tell you how to change/alter the windows password - If it was not there originally, it would not just appear of its own accord - have you recently installed any service packs as some of them 'require' you to have a password log on screen
