    Right - sounds like somewhere along the line the installation has gone bad - do you have any restore points on the pc - I would go back to before all the troubles started and then try and do the installs.

    Ok - did you buy 2 versions of XP - or are you using the same one on both machines - from the sounds of things Microsoft is blocking the updates installing as it would if a key was used on more than one machine - And lets just clarify I am not accusing you of anything - it just depends on where you got the machines some people are less than honest.

    lol - it's not, I have played it since release 3-4 years ago - have all the expansion packs and that. I have never played it as PVP, its more focused on PVE and is amazing and the maps are MASSIVE

    Is the primary boot device set to HDD? The drive could have just died. If he was referring to the MCH overheating - I doubt it very much as they are all either passive or actively cooled. Passive - heatpipes and heatsinks Active - Fans and both are more than capable of dispersing heat. Check in the BIOS that the HDD is the first boot device and post back please

    Go to the drive manufacturers website and FLASH the FIRMWARE to the newest version READ the instructions VERY carefully as they can render the drive inoperable if you do not! :eek:

    If the fan comes on really loud then that means that the quiet options within the BIOS have been reset - have you been doing any overclocking or changed anything significant like the CPU etc. Have you tried popping the battery out of the Motherboard (with the power off at the plug too) leave it out 30 seconds and then reinsert the battery and turn the plug and PC back on - you will lose all the settings in the BIOS but we can tell you how to re enter them. Please post ASAP and let us know

    I think that the games to buy are now £10 each and from that point on its FREE - if you like MMORPG - you have to get Guild Wars :D

    900 songs will be far too big for the flash drive - burn them to a data DVD/CD.

    lol thats a blast from the past on runescape :D all you will find me on is GW at the moment - was looking at Tabula Rasa but decided against it and carry on with GW as its FREE

    can you open a command prompt and type msconfig and display whats in the startup tab please.

    does everyting seem dimmer - have you tried a DVD and seen if thats the same - if it is then WMP is at fault and if not then there may be a problem with the files you are trying to play

    Is the desktop ok or is that dark too? I have never seen colour and brightness options on WMP and therefore think it may be down to something else.

    When the browser looks for files and it opens a windows to search, there is a bar at the bottom make sure it says 'all types' I know this is sketchy but I cannot add pics from my current location

    ok - so you open the drive bay and then insert the disk and then what nothing or does the drive not even open?

    Someone has got hold of your email details and basically cloned your email account. Go to the provider website and get it DELETED and set up a new one. (after we get rid of the stuff on the PC) LIMEWIRE is BAD NEWS - get rid of it ASAP If there is anything on the PC that you need - back it to a flash drive - PICS and VIDS etc and then just reformat - its the only way to make sure if there is anything on the PC thats BAD that it's gone forever.

    Chances are it will register the serial online as does Vista. You will need to remove from the old PC and then install on the laptop with the serial and see what it says - you may have to call microsoft as you do with Vista upon reinstalling :mad:

    Have you removed the old remnants of the game via add or remove. and then manually gone to the C:/ program files and the maker of the game eg Activision and delete the folder - restart and then try and reinstall the game. if there is a problem with the disk as in its scratched then the game may not install properly.

    As Advanced Setup said - if you go into the power management settings and set everything to 'high performance' and to NOT power down or hibernate. you can also go into device manager for the device and there are some options for preventing the device from shutting down

    Depending what you are after in terms of speed - you can get the MOBO CPU and RAM (4GB) Here (UK) for around £200 ;)

    Ok few things here - * you dont have SP3 any reason as to why? * You have Norton Symantec installed and its 'hogging' lots of your system - it is ADVISABLE to use something like NOD32 for AV or AVAST FREE. * You also have bitcomet installed - we do not condone the use of P2P programs - please remove it.
