  1. Right and neither the headphones or Green input are working? Have you set the headphones up in the sound control panel - as in put them on and clicked the test button
  2. Right - according to that image the bottom 'speakers' are not plugged in - I can only say from mine - but my ones where yours are not connected are connected. hope this makes sense. so your cables should be:- blue - rear speakers green - front speakers red - bass on some cards the black one is rear and orange is bass. It says not connected - when it says connected all 'should' be sorted
  3. Yes it will erase them - DO NOT get drivers for a graphics card from anywhere other than NVIDIA or ATI - they are much better and stable than the ones that ASUS provide. If you ope the side of the case and look at the Graphics card there should be 1 or 2 cables going into the card. DRIVER CLEANER HERE Download dcprosetup_15.zip
  4. ok there is a place within the audio options that says audio HDMI etc - if you play something there is a little sound bar to the right of it that should show activity
  5. 600 Watt is more than enough for that - not sure from memory on the 8800GTX but are both the 6 pin PCI-E connectors installed or is there just 1? I would check that you have removed all the old NVIDIA drivers - go to their website they have an application on there that you can run and will remove all the old instances of the drivers. do you have the latest Direct X version? come back and let us know what you get when you have tried the above
  6. You need to go into the sound options and configure the sound - did the same on mine and they have seperate volumes for each device and they are normally muted - DO NOT get this confused with the windows audio. right click on the speaker in the bottom right and there are options on there for the optical and analogue - It is also advisable to only have one of these connected not both unless you switch between the 2 as I do for some programs.
  7. You need to re-flash the BIOS - if you have the original disk that came with the MOBO it's on there -
  8. If they are not running as fast as they should then they are USB2.0 devices plugged into USB1.1 slots or vice versa. depending on the Motherboard not all the USB slots are USB2.0
  9. I have always used Internet Performance and Speed Test as you can do upload and download and the download sizes vary.
  10. I think in terms of contributing - the fact that the software they include comes with AV and Anti spyware, if they are not doing their job then the shutdowns could be a result from getting Viruses and spyware/malware.
  11. Wolfey they take control of lots of things with the software they 'get' you to install in order for the internet to connect. I have heard literally thousands of people leaving AOL due to the way the software 'takes over' their system. The only experience I have seen with the new system is that when they down loaded and installed the new software their system was plagued with Viruses and trojans. hard to believe but I have seen it with my own eyes
  12. Kelly with AOL nothing surprises me - they install so much 'rubbish' on the machine I am surprised that it will boot up. I uninstalled all the bumph that came with it on a friends machine and he later said his internet and system in general was running about 300% faster. We should have a recommended internet provider option - o2 where available and Virgin wherever not << personal experience.
  13. UPDATED - the swiftech H20-120 Compact, will now achieve the 4GHZ O'c and will set you back around £130 - the pump is housed in the CPU block and there are 2 variations of this cooler the H20 -120 and the H20 - 220, the 120 is a single radiator and the 220 is a double radiator.
  14. Forget doing a dual boot - it's far easier to just install XP to another HDD and then just change the boot order in the BIOS. The reason I say this is that unless you know what you are doing, you can easily mess it all up.
  15. Glad its all sorted - If there are any driver issues with Graphic cards, its normally because you haven't removed ALL of the old drivers - its best to use the application from either ATI or NVIDIA website to remove ALL of the previous drivers before installing the latest one.
  16. Try running the game in the XP compatibility mode - right click the desktop icon and right click on it and then select properties there are some compatability option on there.
  17. SATA drives are all master, you cannot set them to slave. If the fans are not spinning the BIOS will shut the Computer down. There are settings in the BIOS so that it can shut down the Computer when the fans drop below a certain speed, to prevent damage to components
  18. They are compatible - have you installed the Graphics card in the slot nearest the CPU as thats the right one. you need to push the little clip at the end of the socket on the motherboard for it to go in easier. And make sure that the back end (DVI sockets) of the graphics card goes through the back of the case properly. Its hard to explain but if its in properly the clip I was talking about would 'click' when it locks and the DVI sockets at the back would be centered on the back of the case slot.
  19. They are just for the audio - if you are using speakers - you dont need em - one is for the front socket for the headphones and the other for a speaker in the PC for post errors, if I understood correct :)
  20. If you have 3pc's then windows live onecare is good and they have a 3 month free trial at the moment its easy to use and you can control the other 2 pcs settings from the main pc - installed it for a friend and was VERY impressed - looked how much it is for 3pcs for a year and its £15 inc VAT from a good etailer or £37 from microsofts website.
  21. Q6600  the BANE of my life lol It will be an issue with the settings in the BIOS. refer to the other posts related Q6600. I would recommend that you go into the BIOS and set to 'optimised defaults'
  22. A loud noise - could be the CPU fan dying - have you checked that the fans are all spinning on startup?
  23. There should be 2 options repair and reinstall. if repair doesnt work you need to reinstall
  24. A clicking noise is normally the HDD working away or trying to (if its the latter its broke) if you boot from the recovery disk it should just go through the motions like an operating system install
  25. If its a pre built PC and they sent you recovery disks with the order then they (may give you more disks - providing that you have the origianl key sticker on the PC as you will need to use that) failing that if there is a recovery partition on the HDD use that. If you have none of the above - you need to buy an Operating System
