Bebo and Social Network Issues!!
Goku replied to BeeCeeBee's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Barry, I know that is the psychology of students but with proper care and support from parents, the "outcast" feeling can be tackled. Encourage your children to make friends with people with similar interests and who don't believe in interacting online. Remember, those children whose parents give a free rein to them by giving them undefined liberties on social networking sites pay most dearly in their turn. If you interact with real people all day, I see no reason why you should talk to them again a few hours later. Surely, life altering experiences don't occur every few hours that you need to constantly keep in touch with them. Remember, it is easy to pretend online. You can style yourselves as someone who is complete contrast with what you are in real life. People find it harder to pretend in "real" world as they have to constantly expose their habits and nature to you. Just by keeping your children offline for a few hours, you can save them a lifetime of humiliation and ridicule. If you teach your children not to pay attention to what everyone says about them, your children will grow up to be what they are and not what others expect them to be. At the end of the day, it is the parents who have to decide whats best for their children as they are the ones who can keep their activities in check. -- Goku -
Bebo and Social Network Issues!!
Goku replied to BeeCeeBee's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
There have indeed been several instances of such reports. Here is one that happened here, recently. Orkut brought death for Adnan What astounds me most is why do people put up their details and make themselves so vulnerable to such instances. You would have thought that youngsters would learn from these kind of happenings but they seem to be immune to such kind of news. In my opinion, no child should be allowed to access social gathering sites, even under adult supervision as he is bound to pick up the wrong kinds of things. To me, being an active element of a large social gathering site is utter foolishness because you are revealing your deepest likings and vulnerabilities to a group of people who call themselves your friends. You are practically putting your deepest fears and secrets in front of a complete stranger. All the people here know that the most dangerous aspect of the internet is that you can commit the worst of crimes without ever leaving a trace and this is exactly what gives the "bad guys" courage and cheek to do something this shameful. I would rather that my child goes outside and play with real people than type all night in front of a computer screen. Again, you can never be too careful with such matters so read all such instances and more importantly, inform your children about these, as they are the more targeted victims. -- Goku -

BEBO HARASSMENT AND INVASION OF PRIVACY
Goku replied to caskin's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I have not heard of the site but after a brief search, I came up with the Contact Us page of the site. It is located here. However, according to the page, if you have to report offensive content, you will need to visit the video and click on the Report Abuse link. You have said that you cannot access the site on your computer but are you able to access it on someone's else. You will need to have access to the page before you can report it to Bebo. There are two ways to get this done. 1. Contact the Bebo management and report them your problem alongwith a link to this thread. They shall thus enforce a staff member to investigate the case and take further actions. 2. Access another computer through which you are able to view the site and disable any comments and click on the Report Abuse link. This will avoid any more promotion of the video. Ask someone you trust to perform the same suggestions if you cannot access the site no matter how hard you try. Also, run your computer through our standard Malware Removal procedure so that anymore remnants that might have been left behind, may not gain any further information on you or keep a tab on your activities. That said, we are all with you and our deepest sympathies with your daughter. Hope you are able to find and punish the culprit. -- Goku -
Glad you got it resolved Sned. And thanks for posting what worked for you. The information can come in useful if we have to deal with such a problem again. :) Feel free to ask any more questions or doubts you may have. -- Goku

Randy is easy to please, though Wolfey presents more of a challenge. Of course, a bottle of beer is enough to keep both happy and content. http://alaskaquilt.com/images/imagesoregon/big_beer.jpg -- Goku

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Evil. :) You have a lot of processes running. For one, your CPU usage is full which is bound to cause lags processing other tasks. As Tootech says, try ending the processes or better yet uninstall the programs using them. We can start by looking what is installed on your computer. 1. Download and install CCleaner (Slim) from here. 2. After the installation is complete, run the application by running clicking on the shortcut on the desktop. Click on the Tools tab. 3. It will present you with a list of softwares installed on your computer. Press the button that reads Save to text file.... It will ask you for a location to save the file to, so save it to a convenient location (preferable on Desktop). 4. Browse to the location where you saved the file and open it. Copy and paste its contents in your next reply. And while you are at it, please use CCleaner to clear old cache and temporary internet files. It will help you recover some of your disk space, if not give a tremendous performance boost. Provide us with the required information as soon as possible. :) Note: Do not use CCleaner's registry cleaning feature unless specifically advised so. It may cause more harm than good if used carelessly. -- Goku

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Sned. :) A bit off topic but I think he has used alpha numeric characters to signify Epic PC Geek (might have been easier to read if I were dyslexic!). Of course, he might be able to elaborate better on what it actually means. Back to the problem, it is being reported everywhere but doesn't seem to have a definite solution to it. Some people have resolved the problem by unplugging all the USB devices and then booting the system while others have said that disabling the UAC after booting into safe mode. Try both the set of solutions and let us know if any of them works for you or not. Also, while you are at it, try to restore the computer to its last working state by choosing the Last Known Good Configuration (advanced) options on the Windows Advanced Options Screen. Hope that helps. Good Luck. :) -- Goku

Don't worry about Seth. He will drop in some time here with some of his borg friends. I think he said he was going to some star for a vacation. :D -- Goku -
Hello Frank. It is not necessary to remember all the BIOS settings, just the crucial or manually configured ones. Most BIOS are pre-configured with optimal settings and therefore there is no need to remember them. However, if you have changed some setting, especially to accomodate hardware, then it is important to retain the setting or the computer might not boot properly. The most important settings, in my opinion, are boot order, temperature settings, RAM speed, etc. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Jake. :) I am not surprised by this behaviour as Windows Vista tries to create a thumbnail for every file present in the Window. This slows down the display process especially if the folder contains videos and music files. Fortunately, the feature can be turned off. How to Turn Off and Disable Thumbnail Preview in Vista Make the changes, save your settings and restart the computer. Does the window still take time to load? -- Goku

Ah, those words give me indescribable comfort. Thankfully, my colleague was saved from the effect of the blasts but not by much. The blasts took place at either ends of his street and thus he was only narrowly saved. But I do feel sorry for those people who were not so lucky. We are recovering from the trauma and I hope we will overcome it soon. Thank you for your support. :) -- Goku

Hello Jazz. Did you apply the properties to the folder in which you store your music?
