  5. Fix CD Drive Glad you got it resolved Rag. Feel free to ask any more questions or doubts you may have. :) For those of you who feel uncomfortable editing the registry manually, download the attached archive and extract it. If you are unsure on how to open the archive, use the instructions from here and continue. After you have extracted the archive, you should obtain a file labeled Fix CD Drive.reg. Double-click on the file and you will be asked whether you want to import the information into the registry or not. Answer Yes to the prompt and sometime later another dialog box will pop up informing you that the operation was successful. After you have done the above, reboot your computer. You should now be able to access and use your CD drive. Note: Using the above registry fix might cause some programs to dysfunction or work incorrectly. In that case, please reinstall the affected programs to resolve their respective errors. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku Fix CD Drive.zip
  6. From that I deduce that the sound drivers for your soundcard or not / improperly installed. Tell us the make and model number of your soundcard and we will try our best to search for the appropriate driver. And you also need to change your CMOS battery. The CMOS battery retains the settings for BIOS and other important configurations so better change it now. If you are unsure on how to do this, here is a small article on how to replace a CMOS battery. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku

  8. Hello and Welcome to FPCH Richard. :) Does this problem occur only on webpages or does it also occur when you scroll down through multi-paged documents? If it does the same offline, then as Wolfey suspects, your monitor may be on its last leg. -- Goku
  9. This is getting confusing. Please download and install CCleaner from here. Next, configure it according to your preference and run it. 13. Fix Control Panel View Hello Syoza, did you try the registry entry I attached in my previous message? If yes, then what were the results? If no, then try it and see if it fixes the problem or not. If the previous fix did not work for you, then please download the archive attached to this message and extract it. If you are unsure on how to open the archive, use the instructions from here and continue. Within the archive, you will find two files namely Force Classic View.reg and Fix Control Panel.reg. First, run the file labeled Force Classic View.reg and reboot the computer. Access your Control Panel. Is it any different now? If the changes are not implemented even after you have rebooted the computer, then run the file labeled Fix Control Panel.reg and reboot your computer again. That should probably fix the issue. Another thing I want to ask is did you change anything at all before you first encountered the issue? Post back the results and the required information as soon as possible. -- Goku Fix Control Panel View.zip
  14. Agreed. Revo is one of the best third-party uninstallers out there that are free. It is surely more reliable than the inbuilt Windows installer as it can reach corners the Windows Add / Remove utility overlooks. :) -- Goku
  15. I used to have that Polo but it was because I was nastily infected with some kind of worm. You might want to run through our standard Malware procedure just to eliminate that possibility. :) -- Goku

  21. You could also try an online converter if you do not require to convert the files often. One online converter I use is Zamzar. It covers quite a range of basic document and media formats. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  22. Wolfey, I think that Ungowa downloaded the Recovery Console from our downloads section and is trying to use it to install XP again. Of course, this will be impossible and that is why he is confused. This, is at least, what I conclude from this: -- Goku

  25. What recovery software did you use Rich? The best one I know of is Recover My Files. Download the program and scan for your lost pictures. If the program shows them as recoverable and you are willing to spend some money, then buy the software. If you used some other recovery software before, there is a chance, that Recover My Files will do a better job. -- Goku
