  1. Yes, please do Barry! Also, Goku, what is in that breakfast? I have had it somewhere before but I cant remember whats in it :P it's not too bad, to my very, "british" taste buds :) Don't judge a book by it's cover Bob ;) Kind of like that black pudding of yours :P ew :)
  2. I absolutly HATE people who have theirs as if they are there answering the phone, My brothers used to be: "Hey!, you okay? Sorry, what? Say that again, I cant hear you, my signal is bad..." *Answer machine Beep*
  3. Hello jeannelle, a few questions: When you say the next button, do you mean the link at the bottom of the page, or the next button in your web browser? if it is on the page, it could be a page loading error, have you tried refreshing the page and seeing if it works then? What internet browser are you using? Is it the latest version? what other websites does this problem appear on? Sorry about all those, answer as many of them as you can with as much detail as possible :)
  4. yes we can, dont worry :) Just tell us your budget, and what you want to use the PC for, which you have done both of these already. Also, which parts do you not need, such as monitor, keyboard, mouse etc. as soon as we know these details we can root out a nice worthy spec for you to take a look at. :D
  5. do you know what motherboard your computer has? If not, what is the maker/model of your computer?
  6. No thanks, I cant even think about it. disgusting :)
  7. God you're making me hungry with that Bob! STOP IT! and I agree, need the fried bread and toast! Get rid of that Black pudding and i'd eat that right out of the screen! add in a few nicely cooked Hash browns and then you've got a breakfast fit for.. well me! :D
  8. Hello Casswilf, Wlecome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help! Hope we can help :)
  9. Agreed Barry. To reply to Doug aswell, generally now routers and modem are as one :) But even if it is just a modem on the desk, cutting the connection to it will have the same effect as cutting the connection to the router, it just cuts the connection in a different place :)
  10. Just commenting also, That depending on what CPU you have, AMD or Intel, you may not have to worry about pins and only AMD processor chips use pins, whereas intel chips use... well... chips! :) Also, on some chips you can actually break off one or two pins and it will still work, because not all chips are needed all the time, However I am not recommending if you break a few pins, you carry on using that processor, you should still rpelace it :P
  11. Okay, do you have your original Windows XP installation disk?
  12. Hey Tom, According to some sources, the answer is no, it will not cause your TV's lifespan to decrease, aslong as you set your settings on the PC for the correct refresh rate :) Your friend maybe referring to a Plasma TV as they do have a lifetime that can be altered by usage
  13. what exactly did it do? Did it ask you anything after it scanned?
  14. Or an alternative to tootechs idea is this click on customise, and take off the monitor, then the whole price is £330 and with keyboard etc. funny thing is, it is the exact same PC and spec as the one you said scott, but for some reason, once you take the monitor off, it drops to £330.
  15. If it is easier to return to comet then there shouldn't be any problem with buying it from them as it is the same price, but as you will be buying not directly from the makers, they will add their own prices onto upgrades. Such as a graphics card upgrade is about £5-£10 dearer at comet, and also they will add Office in for an extra £102 as opposed to buying it for £50 and yes it's very easy to install MS Office and uninstall Works, you don't even have to uninstall Works if you want to keep it on for any unknown bizarre reason :D
  16. Okay well, first of all, by that "inspire" system, do you mean a Mesh Elite XM5200? That is not a bad system at all. the problem is to add Office, they ask for another £89 but you can buy Office yourself and install it [just put in a disk] for £49.60 here at ebuyer.com Also depending where you buy it from depends if it comes with Office installed or not, some places will put Microsoft Works on because it's cheaper and not as good :P so watch out for that Overall, the Mesh out performs the Compaq for price and performance But it's a close call between the Mesh and the HP.
  17. That all sounds fine to me :) As for graphics cards, you should look at ATI, this is said alot, but especially for low budget machines as you get more power for your money with ATI cards. Nvidia cards, you end up paying alot of money and not getting much for it. Have you looked around at some of the Intel Processors to see different prices?
  18. If you are indeed using MS Outlook 2007 then there have been a number of cases with the same problem as you. does it happen to ALL your new emails? or just a few? Can you try this for me, if you are using MS Outlook 2007 NOT MS Outlook Express; Open Outlook Go to Tools > Account Settings > Data Files tab. Do you see your mailbox listed there? If so, select it as the delivery location, Stop and restart Outlook.
  19. No worries Alan, Take your time going through that proceedure to get it right :) and I'm afraid, aswell as beeceebee said, I am also not near you :(
  20. As Dalo said, If you are looking to use this PC as just a general HOME PC, with no gaming or hard, resource-heavy tasks, then a Dual core chip will probably suit you better, Off the block the dual cores are faster than Quads, and you really need heavy, load tasks to bring the best out of Quad cores, such as the latest games, or Video editing etc :)
  21. Okay this isn't the place for this discussion :) And I fail to agree that my 11 x 120mm fans would loose out :)
  22. Or also funnily enough, like the Cooler Master HAF932 :) Or even the Brand new Cooler Master Sniper! :)
  23. I doubt a 3rd party program would be asking for you to insert the Windows CD without specifying. Do both of the programs you mentioned ask for this CD?
  24. What email client are you using Ken? Are you using Microsoft Outlook 2007?
  25. What does the program do that you would like Mara? There are always, well most of the time, reputable, free programs :) I.e for Office replacement there's Open Office, for Photoshop replacement there is GiMP, etc. If you're not sure then don't worry, just ask here and I'm sure we can find you a safe alternative :) But reading your's and DSTMs posts, it is weird how you got the network magic problem but he didn't... :S Maybe he downloaded it from a different site to you or something.
