I agree that a fan in the side/case is best :) It just depends on your air flow, and make sure you have a good equal pressure on your case. You want as much air going in as there is going out, or maybe a little more cooler air going in. And I also believe it is essential to have an extracting fan at the top of the case as hot air rises as we all know and if strnog enough it could pull all the warm air out from around the CPU, which is good :) and an extracting fan at the back, near the top somewhere of course :) Funnily enough this is my Physics A level project, finding the best fan setup for maximum cooling in a PC case :)

Okay Alan, forget the screenshot, but details on how to do one are in my previous post. The next step is to check your systemm for Malware/Spyware. To do this, please follow these steps: Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a combination of the words malicious and software. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code. Required Cleanup Steps Disable the Spybot Search & Destroy TEA TIMER if you use it and if it is enabled Run a Temporary file and cache cleaner (ATF) Run 2 Anti-Malware scanners (Listed Below) Run an Online Anti-Virus / Anti-Malware Scanner (Listed Below) Clear out old System Restore points If continued Malware type activity is present you may be asked to post a TrendMicro™ HijackThis™ Log file, do not do so unless requested. The reason to run multiple scanners is to ensure that no single scanner is missing something. The time it takes will vary depending on your system and your internet connection speed. Typically the SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes scanners will take between 10 to 90 minutes. The ESET online scan should take between 1 to 3 hours. In most cases, these scans will suffice to clean and disinfect your computer. Heavily infected systems or slower PCs can take much longer to scan and clean. For best results print the following instructions and bookmark this Web page To keep this guide printer-friendly, use your cursor to highlight the contents below. From your browser select File - Print and in the printer dialog box under "Print range" click the Selection choice to print out these instructions for removal of malware. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn266/FPCH/Malware%20Guide/printer-selection.gif ____________________________________________ STEP 1 Disable Spybot Search & Destroys' TEA TIMER: (if installed, if not go to Step 2) Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode" On the left hand side, Click on Tools Then click on the Resident Icon in the List Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts. Restart your computer. __________________________________________________ STEP 2 Follow these instructions carefully. Download ATF-Cleaner from SCANWITH.com to remove un-needed temporary files from your computer that may contain malware. When you run ATF-Cleaner, check the items as shown below for Main. For FireFox, be sure to click on the FireFox tab on top and check the items as shown below for FireFox NOTE: If you don't have FireFox or Opera installed then they will be grayed out and can be ignored Then click on "Empty Selected". http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn266/FPCH/Malware%20Guide/atf-cleaner01.gif . http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn266/FPCH/Malware%20Guide/atf-cleaner02.gif __________________________________________________ STEP 3 Install and run the free version (not the Professional version) of SUPERAntiSpyware from SUPERAntiSpyware.com Accept any prompts to allow SUPERAntiSpyware to install the latest rules and infection definition files. You do not have to send them your e-mail address, just click next. You can leave the automated check for updates on. You can uncheck "Send a diagnostic report to research center" if you don't want to send the information. DO NOT allow SUPERAntiSpyware to protect your Home Page settings. On the Top Left select the Scan your computer button. Make sure there is a CHECK MARK on all Fixed Drives. Click "Perform a Complete Scan". Click "Next" to Repair issues found and reboot the computer when prompted to do so. __________________________________________________ STEP 4 Install and run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Malwarebytes - (direct download) Accept all defaults for the installer Allow the program to update the definitions Click on the Quick Scan and click Next. If any items are found allow it to clean them and then Reboot your computer. __________________________________________________ STEP 5 Run an online scan with ESET from Free Virus Scan: Use ESET's Online Antivirus Scanner You must use Internet Explorer for this online scan. FireFox, Opera, etc will not work for this scan. If your computer is running Window's Vista, then you must first start Internet Explorer as an Administrator. To do so, right-click on the Internet Explorer icon in the Start Menu and select "Run as administrator" from the popup context menu. Accept the terms and click "Start". Once the scanner is ready, check "Remove found threats" AND "Scan unwanted applications". Click "Start" to begin the scan. When completed restart your computer __________________________________________________ Make sure your internet firewall security is enabled, and then please return to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help and tell us how the computer seems to be operating. At that time, you will receive instructions to assist you in removing malicious programs from your Add/Remove program list if warranted. After you have run these programs, scans and tests your system should be fine and you should recieve no more popups. Regardless if this is successful or not, I must suggest to you to change your Internet Browser as Internet Explorer is not as safe as it used to be. A safer and popular, easy to use web browser is Mozilla FireFox, free to download. You do not HAVE to take this advice, do what you want to, it's just a suggestion :)
-
Lol don't mind us, we shall keep this from your thread in future :) But our advice still stands :)

Hello Devlin, It will probably be best to use a Wireless PC card as then it leaves your USB slots free for other devices :) I am not the person to ask about Wireless PC Cards although I can assure you someone who is the person to ask, should check out this thread and adivse you on which one soon. As for these speakers, when you say "wireless" do you mean bluetooth?

I don't get what you mean by, "at the back of ebay" Do you mean on another tab? if so, when this happens, can you stay clicked on the ebay window, Press the PrtScr(Print screen) button, (without the windows key) Then click on the Start menu button, Go to all Programs, or Program files, which ever it is called, Then Accessories Click on "Paint". When Paint open's up, press Ctrl + v and your screenshot should appear in the program, click file > Save As and type in a file name, On the box below the filename, click the little arrow, and select JPEG Then click Save. Then come back to here, click on Post Reply, [NOT Quick Reply] Scroll down to the Manage attachments button and click it, a new window will appear. Click on Browse and find the file that you just saved, then click open On the small window again, click on upload Submit your post :) And can you double-check for me that your popup blocker is indeed on by following these steps: :) 1. Click the Tools menu 2. Click Pop-up Blocker 3. Click Turn on Pop-up Blocker (If already on, it will offer an option to Turn off Pop-up Blocker) 4. Confirm by clicking the Yes button. Whilst you are in the Tools menu, please can you click on "pop-up Blocker Settings" And then please select your Filter level to "High", (as shown in image below) click on "Close". then browse to a site that used to give you a popup and tell me if it still comes up :)
-
Hello Alan, does it appear after you hover over another image? Can you tell me the website that your screenshot came from? i.e. that image you posted. What website were you on when that appeared?
-
it means that you wont lose the extra speed it has over 400MHz, as you asked in your previous post :P
-
Alan, what beeceebee means is, when you are browsing, and this "pop up" appears... Does it appear in a new tab, a new Browser window or in the one you are currently using?
-
Your Board will support 800MHz RAM, and so you can use that if you want. 667MHz RAM, should not be downclocked at all. So you can use 667 MHz RAM if you wish or 800MHz as that is the fastest speed your mobo will allow. The 800FSB of your cpu shouldn't make a difference, only if OC'ing

Sims 3 is coming out soon! Help!

Unless Dalo says anything different, I would just keep it, it is the exact same card, just been covered with a different label really, Some companies overclock them to make them faster and maybe have a different fan and things but the diamond will still work as well as the HIS so don't worry :) -
I'm afraid my Cooler Master HAF 932 wins 8/10 times when pitched against the Antec Nine Hundred, or even Twelve Hundred, some even noted upto a 5 degree decrease when transferring their system from an Antec to the HAF :p But who's counting? :)
-
No, I think he means that once the PC is switched on, all the fans are on, they don't stop and start whilst the system is turned on. Just that sometimes you may not realise it as the speed varies so they may be very quiet.

Lol, Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help! Don't worry, we don't bite :) But we do try our best to help with any problems or questions :) Just as a quick tip, you will probably be told the best way to get a new system is to build it yourself, as it tends to work out cheaper that way, but if you are sure you want to buy a premade one, we can also help advise on those too! :)
-
That maybe true Mara, as if you ever need quick, simple upgrades that you can do yourself, such as RAM, there are always ways of finding out your PC's specs without you building it yourself :) And alot of the time, the company you bought it off will do it for you too, it's just the matter of price difference between doing it yourself or paying someone to do it, depending on how easy that job is :)
-
By this, do you mean you clicked on "Windows partition"? And did it say another program was using the Windows partition?

No, creating a recovery disk would not work as beeceebee explained, unless you are both using the exact same machines. And don't worry, I am guessing and hoping that your system has a CD rewriter? as you will need it if I am going to get you to create your own Vista CD that he can use to hopefully fix his system :)
