converting a avi file shuts my computer down?
BeeCeeBee replied to riccosuabe's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
There are number of reasons for that rule. We are not the PC Police but we do not get involved in helping with copyright infringement. We do not have the resources or desire to get involved in that type of problem. In addition these downloads are often the source the very problem that is posted. Accordingly, if your reply was one of principle you have the answer. Your reply contains an inference that these are torrent downloads but I am not closing this thread at this time so as to allow you to reply and perhaps clear the air. -

Hello pcman and Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help! There are a number of reasons that may be behind this boot failure. See Error message: "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem" Frankly your post is confusing and I am not sure exactly where you stand. Are you saying that you have both vista and xp installed? What is the original OS for this machine? Have you tried to boot using f8 and choosing "Last good configuration?" While it may be a hard drive problem it is almost impossible to say. Please help us out with more information.

1. A boot time of one minute from power up is not excessive by any means with XP. Is that what you mean? 2. RandyL has twice suggested that you perform a chkdisk and you have not so much as acknowledged the suggestion. It appears that you are looking for a quick fix to what is possibly not even a problem.

Adding memory makes boot extremely slow
BeeCeeBee replied to firmex's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Have you tried booting the computer with the only the new memory? Have you checked that the bios is recognising the new memory? Are there any bios warnings (beebs) when you boot? Have you changed your pagefile settings to account for the new memory? -

IAPro.exe has stopped working

Your choice, but Avira is easier and give some thought to why Norton is the only antivirus program that needs a special tool to remove and that the company itself had to create it. The logo for avira is red with a white umbrella on it. If it is installed it will appear in the taskbar near the clock on the bottom right. It should also be in the list of programs in "Add or Remove Programs" in your control panel. You can uninstall it there. It is possible that you downloaded it but did not install it. If so it will appear where you save downloads. Have you met my flying pig? Dont worry about it. If I understand correctly this was part of the Regcure Icon? If so and the icon is still there delete it. It should be now! :) -

For Plastic Nev When Mozart passed away, he was buried in a churchyard. A couple days later, the town drunk was walking through the cemetery and heard some strange noise coming from the area where Mozart was buried. Terrified, the drunk ran and got the town magistrate to come and listen to it. When the magistrate arrived, he bent his ear to the grave, listened for a moment, and said, "Ah, yes, that's Mozart's Ninth Symphony, being played backwards." He listened a while longer, and said, "There's the Eighth Symphony, and it's backwards, too. Most puzzling." So the magistrate kept listening; "There's the Seventh... the Sixth... the Fifth..." Suddenly the realization of what was happening dawned on the magistrate; he stood up and announced to the crowd that had gathered in the cemetery, "My fellow citizens, there's nothing to worry about. It's just Mozart decomposing."

IAPro.exe has stopped working
BeeCeeBee replied to NannaNoComputa's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Nanna STOP!!!! The only thing you have omitted is the kitchen sink. :D First if you still have Norton Running you cannot run Avira and/or the antivirus part of the Comodo Security suite at the same time. I really do not care for Norton at all and would remove it entirely. You do that by going to your control panel and then "add and Remove Programs"and once the list is populated uninstall anything and everything Norton. You may then run the Norton Removal Tool to get anything that you may have missed. Download and run the Norton Removal Tool If you choose to keep norton uninstall Avira and either disble or uninstall the antivirus portion of Comodo. If you remove Norton then you must choose between Avira and Comodo antivirus. Personally I use Avira and know little about Comodo except for the firewall. You are totally over loaded with anti malware programs. Stick with the first 2 (antimalwere bytes and SuperAntiSpyware and get rid of the rest) Immediately uninstall regcure (same as you did with Norton) and do not even think about trying to use it. Finally what colour is this shield and where is it located on your desktop? Please do not disregard or wait on following this advice. More is not better!!! -

A little advice needed re security software
BeeCeeBee replied to Ross's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
You are quite right (Thank you) it has now been included in a security suite. Comodo products are generally good and, accordingly, we have amended the list. That being said I assume you can download and disable all but the firewall. (I don't know that as a fact as yet. ) If not you can certainly use the whole download but just not along with Avast, Avira etc. -

The Comodo program recommended is the firewall Ross. You should never be running two antivirus programs at the same time. The general rule is 1 Antivirus, 1 firewall and usually 2 anti malware programs. -
