ASP.NET MACHINE ACCOUNT
BeeCeeBee replied to keithwill38's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
ASP.NET MACHINE ACCOUNT was created with .Net Framework. If you have not downloaded Service Pack 1 for Vista and Net Framework you should do so and continue to download all Vista updates as they become available. See the following for more information. It would appear based on your usage that you would have no need to keep that account. ASP.NET Machine Account -
You havn't told us if you tried to uninstall the sound as Wolfey suggested.

ARGH thats not right - Sorry Polo someone was bound to do that so it may as well be me. :D (Actually I am quite sure Dalo is 100%)

Hi Andrea, Norton comes so deeply embedded in so many new machines that is is difficult to remove all traces and that is the purpose of the removal tool. Kaspersky was added by you after the fact and its removal should be pretty straight forward. Once you are finished you can look for any traces by a simple search.

:) OK you two that's enough. Please get a reoom and leave the rest of us out of it.

Have you tried to do the uninstall that Wolfey suggested? If it works the lack of the discs won't matter. The discs would be needed only if there is some form of corruption of your operating system. Most likely it will either work or remain much as it is. Since you know for sure that you don't have the discs you may as well give it a try.
-
No problem Andrea we are back to one thread.

I should Spike but I would really do a thorough search for the windows 98 discs if you think that there is a chance you may have them. I really do not remember if windows 98 has a system restore (a sure sign of age- mine I mean) but if it does I would try that first. Pick a date when the sound was working. If not check back here before you uninstall.

OK I tried all of that but still have three problems. 1. I tried to use an old foun tane pen (is that right?) and it would not load that Ink Stuff. 2. I went into the bios to set the boot sequence. That was fine but it is old and does not allow for a CD and I do not have a floppy drive to even download a new startup disc. 3. If do manage to get the thing to boot up I still am not sure what text has to be added to the book thing. I googled "diary Inc.") but they do not seem to have a website. Perhaps I should just give up and take it to the shop. :confused2: Please someone !!

I am going to leave the issue of formatting to someone else more capbable although I tend to believe that you may simply have reinstalled windows. The fact that you said you labeled some pics as private and apparently did not do the same for your music leads me to suspect that you have somehow retreived them from Irfan or a related program. As far as I know XP home does not offer that kind of encryption. You may have to log on somewhere and change the settings on the program itself. It may be a password issue. Again that is just a suspicion but may account for how you can find files that should be gone. Have you been able to retrieve any old documents from your "My Documents folder?"

Sorry gunslinger but I am not sure what you mean by ''it". Do you mean that media player won't play the DVD or that the PC won't play it in some other program like WinDVD? When you go into My Computer does the actual DVD show in your D drive. Have you made sure that DVD video is ticked in the file type box in Media Player tools?

You see I didn't even know there was a choice. In fairness to me though, I have only seen one of these devices in my life. All it had was a title on its case (looked sort of like a laptop type thing) and it had a brand name "diary." I tried to open it following the instructions on your link but all the paper things were blank. Is there somewhere i have to go to download the text? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi and welcome to Free PC Help! Since Dalo doesn't like french cars - feel free to drive HIM to distraction. ;)

Hi Help4, I have to not only thank you for the link (which should be required viewing for all Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help members) but also for "getting it." I suspect you didn't need an interpreter. :)

When you go to "open With" make sure you dont just choose from what is suggested. Select Choose program and then media player and then check the box that say always use the selected program etc. I am working from XP so it may be slightly different in vista.

Hi Chris, Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help!!! Glad to have you here.

A blond was driving her boyfriend's hot new Jag alongside a dried up river bed when she spotted another blond sitting in a beat up old row boat and rowing away furiously on what used to be a river but now just a dried up field. Furious with what she sees, she stomps on the brakes, screaches to a halt, gets out of the car and starts screaming at the blond in the boat. "You moron", she yelled, "its dumb blonds like you that give all of us a bad name. "I ought to go out there and kick your ass". "Yeah" replied the blond in the boat, "why don't you come out here and try." "I would" said the first "but I can't swim."

Hi Wondercai, You seem frustrated but you must remember that this is a public forum and members at all levels of experience need to be able to follow these threads. In the future please start any new thread with a question or problem that fully states the issue in a clear and concise manner. Thank you.

Just for the sake of clarity this is what it should look like in XP in a full excel window. Of course you can size it to be side by side instead of over and under. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn266/FPCH/scnsht.jpg

This is one of those times when I can't tell if the problem is solved or not. You should be able to follow the procedure described by Wolfey for 2 seperate excel spreadsheets. Open one, resize it , then open another and do the same.

And bah Humbug to you! (does the blond have a sister?)
