  1. Try the download. It sounds as if Media PLayer is corrupt.
  2. Thanks for the feedback. I doubt that we would ever have discovered that. Good Luck Did the eBay seller admit to leaving the jumper in the reset position? If so - you should still be able to get your money back. eBay have a disputes policy.
  3. Hi and welcome to ExTS I am sorry but we have a policy here that forbids us from assisting with by-passing passwords. We have no way of checking that the computer is actually yours. ( no accusations here at all ) Some other forums are not so rigid with their rules. I am sorry - but we cannot help.
  4. You say that after running the netsh int ip reset you got a connection again ? Can you run this again for me please ? At the command prompt type netsh winsock reset ...... hit ENTER Then type netsh int ip reset..... hit ENTER Do you get a connection now? If it connects again - then you lose it............it could be malware. Download MBAM from here. ( d/l the free version ) click here Install and run it. It may take over an hour to scan. Try the connection again. You may need to run the two netsh commands again. If you are still having problems .... MBAM will have produced a log of the scan. Open MBAM and click on Logs. Open the recent log in Notebook. Copy this and post it here please.
  5. Yep :) Earlier on we went into "Services" and disabled WMP Network Sharing Can you check that that is still disabled please ? I found this too that shows how to disable it from with WMP click here The offending file(s) are part of Windows Media Player and this is embedded into your Operating System. It cannot be removed. If the above doesn't work ...... You could try downloading the latest version and install that. It will overwrite the existing one - and hopefully sort the black boxes :) click here You may need to scroll down the page a little. If that doesn't work - we can do a check on the system files.
  6. So - you cannot connect using a cable to the router or wirelessly ? Is this correct ? Start > type in .....devmgmt.msc .....ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters. 1. What is listed ? 2. Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?
  7. Hi, There are 2 basic type of hard drive. ATA - commonly known as IDE and SATA ( newer type but been around for a while now ) Sounds like an IDE caddy Take a look here it should make things clearer for you. click here The laptop drives are 2.5 inch and the desktop drives are bigger - 3.5 inch
  8. Good news :) I will not mark this as "Solved" yet to give you time to test the system.
  9. Let us know how you get on. It may be worthwhile getting the card checked out as it is possible that the PCIe x 16 slot is the problem.
  10. Hi Looking at your Hosts file you have an entry 127.0.0.1 localhost. the very last line. # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself. This basically suggests that the hosts file is not used by default. 127.0.0.1 is the local host address and is used to establish an IP connection This is a typical Hosts file for Win7 # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself. # 127.0.0.1 localhost # ::1 localhost Suggest that you put a # in front of 127.0.0.1 localhost - this will then be ignored. OK to finish. Check the Hosts again to see if the changes have been made then try the website again. I assume that this was a hang-over from blocking the site in the first place? If you are still having problems .......Try adding 94.127.78.91 www.habbo.com to the Hosts just under 127.0.0.1 localhost .......[ space after 78.92 ]
  11. Was this a move from the video card itself to the on-board video socket ? As you say - it looks like a problem with your Video Card. If it is working OK with on-board graphics and the card is giving a problem I suggest that you take the card to a small one-man pc repair shop and ask them to test it for you. Phone first and ask if they can do it and how much it will cost. Alternatively - if you have a different video card give this a try.
  12. Could you please take another look at the Hosts file and let me know what is there please ? Also - Start > Control Panel > Internet Options Delete Cookies. You will need to log-in again with log-in details to sites like this that Windows may hold your login details for. ( if that makes sense ??? :) )
  13. Yes - but could you ping the site with no packets lost ?
  14. Thanks for the feedback - will mark this "Solved" now :)
  15. Hi Start > type in .....cmd ......right click on the cmd.exe that appears top left > Run as Administrator At the command prompt type in... ping habbo.com also try ping 94.127.78.91 ( space after ping ) You should get 4 packets sent and 4 received - no losses.
  16. Hi and welcome to ExTS Could you possibly give us a link to the website ? We may be able to advise better if we knew what we are dealing with :)
  17. Hi Mark Not sure why Revo should be seeing NTVDM when the box clearly shows wmpmscfg.exe There is a path showing at the top of the box.... C:\ProgramFiles\W154FB....\wmpmscfg.exe From the details in the pic it is difficult to tell if the path is complete. Try the following: Start > Computer > C:\ > Program Files From here you are looking for W154FB ...... [there may be more here] Click on this and you should be able to find wmpmscfg.exe If you right click on this and click on Rename the file name will be highlighted. Change it to wmpmscfgold.exe OK the changes. You may get a warning about the fact that the program will not function - ignore this. Re-boot Hopefully the problem should have gone away.
  18. It hasn't - Essentials would need to have been downloaded. It does have Defender - but you are best advised to install MalwareBytes too. You can have 2 anti-malware programs but not 2 AVs.
  19. Hi Welcome to ExTS Click the Libraries icon ( bottom left of screen ) > then click Computer ( left side ) The DVD Drive should show there. If you move the cable to the monitor around - does the problem get any better / worse ? Does it continue if you re-boot ? Do you have on-board video that you could try ? You would need to take the video card out.
  20. Hi again Try the Safe Mode with Networking. If you can get an internet connection try Device Manager and update the drivers automatically from there. ( you will need the problem video card in the slot )
  21. Thanks for that. Please go back to the Command Prompt and type in the following: ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns You will probably get a message that it cannot be done with the media disconnected. If so try the following: At the command prompt type netsh winsock reset ...... hit ENTER Then type netsh int ip reset..... hit ENTER Then re-boot and try the connection again
  22. Thanks for the feedback - let us know how the DVD Writer goes. Seems good value for £15 :)
  23. Hi Jono - glad that it worked for you :) There is a free version of Revo too.
  24. Hi The 6 to 4 adapters are used to transmit ipv6 data through an ipv4 network. Delete the 8 entries ( right click > delete ) Re-boot - is it re-created ? Start > type in .....cmd ........right click on .....cmd.exe .....that appears top left > Run as Administrator At the prompt type in ... ping 127.0.0.1 ...............ENTER You should get 4 packets sent and received. No losses. Do you ?
