1. If the other one is spinning fans etc and the Corsair isn't it looks like it is due for a return to seller.
2. Good to hear that eBay is now behaving itself :) The other sites etc that use automated login should be OK and their cookies, once reinstalled, should be OK. The eBay one should be too as the original cookie may well have been corrupt.
3. It does when you start the thread off as NormanG then the next post is from ennnceee ............as already explained - it is confusing. If I glance down the thread and see a different name it looks as if they have added a suggestion. To have 2 accounts is not unusual but it doesn't make any sense. To us it looks as if we are replying to 2 different people - unless that is the intention ?
4. You would have had an option to delete this - otherwise you end up with 2 versions of XP on the machine. As far as I am aware - you can install XP Home on an iMedia machine providing it is not installed on a second machine. You would not be able to use the iMedia 25 character license for an XP Home installation you would need to use the one that came with the disk.
5. Yes - the 8 pin connector powers the Central Processor and presumably the fan too. This is why it didn't make any attempt to boot up - but kept case fans running.
6. Have you checked the video cable connections and if you have a video card take that out and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser and re-seat. This may fix the poor graphics. See here for system drivers http://www.packardbell.co.uk/pb/en/GB/content/download
7. You could ask at a small pc repair shop if they have a second hand one that you could borrow to test with a view to buy. They should have no problem with that.
8. Hi, Good choice - it is the one I would have gone for. If you change your computer you can always take this out and move it to the new machine. You won't be disappointed with it. If you ordered from Amazon it should arrive within a week. see here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-2.html You may need to upgrade the Power Supply Unit to run the card I am sorry - I should have pointed this out earlier. Do you know what Wattage the PSU is ? If not - there should be a sticker on the unit itself. I think 400Watts is required.
9. I edited my last post - please take another look.
10. Hi again, click here - 9400GT click here - GT610 The game specs suggest the 9400GT - which I think is the least expensive. Either of these cards will run that game. You may wish to think about future games / computers. The 6670 is by far the best for under £55 click here 6670
11. Great :) Next question: As far as I know GeForce 6 is a series - different options. Have you bought this already ?
12. If you constantly tap F8 about once per second after switching on you should see the Advanced Start-up Options. Select Safe Mode Do the graphics look any better - they will be grainy and not sharp. The screen should not be stripey. With a new install of XP the graphics usually do look a bit odd because the chipset drivers need to be installed. I thought we were working on the media center pc ?
13. Things are looking good :)
14. Hi This still suggests that you have a PCIe x 16 http://reviews.cnet.com/motherboards/asus-m2n68-am-se2/4507-3049_7-33632758.html Did Speccy suggest which expansion slots you have ? If this is it - the dark blue slot is the PCIe x 16
15. The PCIe x16 slot is the black one from the link.
16. Hi Are you in the process of installing an operating system on this machine ? If so - you will need the installation disk in the DVD CDROM drive.
17. Hi Mike You have me confused. I doubt that this is anything to do with the install. It sounds like video card to me. If you couldn't install XP on it - how could you install the netgear software ?? When you switch on - what is happening now ? The XP version that you have - is it installed on another system ?
18. Hi, If this is your board you have 1 PCIx x16 slot ..............which is what we were hoping :) http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2Plus/M2N68AM/
19. Yes - it will take me a few minutes to locate the specs for your motherboard ......don't go away :)
20. No problem at all - good to hear that your friend fixed it for you :)
21. Hi again Evesham is not a make I am familiar with. I need to know which motherboard is in it - specifically if you have a PCIe x 16 slot ...........I know you said you had a PCI slot. PCI Video Cards will probably not cope with that game - but if you have a PCIe slot this is a different matter. Download Speccy from here http://www.piriform.com/speccy It will give you a comprehensive analysis of your system. ============ The processor would probably cope. RAM is OK. We just need to verify the PCIe slot on the motherboard.
22. Hi Stella and welcome to ExTS How about a reply within 20 minutes ? :) The system requirements for that game are: Pentium 4 2.66GHz G-Force 9400GT 2GB RAM 3GB Hard Drive space What is the make and model number of your computer please ? I will be around for an hour or so so check back.
23. ennnceee .............NormanG ............ ??? (same IP Address) Why 2 accounts ? This only serves to confuse us !
24. Hi and welcome to ExTS Sorry for the late reply - the site has been down for the last 24 hours :( If it is just eBay it could be a corrupt cookie ( small piece of software put on your system by eBay to speed up your navigation around the site ). Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Delete put a tick in the box next to "Cookies" ( you may as well do the temp files too as they are not needed ) Delete. You will find that you need to log in again to sites like this that may have remembered your login details as these will be lost.
25. Hi mcd840 (just butting in here Nev :) ) I suggest that you strip the hardware etc off the motherboard and leave only the 20(4) way connector from the PSU. If the CPU fan and the PSU fan are still intermittent on start-up then I would suspect the PSU. see here: http://s13.zetaboards.com/kenspchelp/topic/6964867/1/#new The simplest test is to swap it. It does not need to be the same Wattage.
