  1. Hi J-E Try this first: Windowskey + R Type in the box .......... iexplore.exe -extoff ........hit return You should get a message telling you that IE extensions [addons] have been turned off. Try running IE with addons turned off. If this doesn't do it .......... Take a look here - click here - it may help. [ ignore any adverts to "click here" or download ]
  2. Isn't this what I was asking Rustys :)
  3. Hi Annie Yes - they are usually yellow or blue [ other colours too ] See image: Are you using Chrome as your browser ? You will have Edge on your system too. Try this and see if it is any better - or any other browser.
  4. No problem - you know where we are if you have other issues :)
  5. Have you tried my suggestions from post #4 ?
  6. Hi, A jerky mouse could be the drivers. You can update / uninstall them from Device Manager. Right click on the device and try "update drivers" first. [ you will need an internet connection ] Failing that - uninstall. Have the mouse connected and re-boot - Windows will find the "new" hardware. Take a look here - there are a few ideas you can try. -
  7. Hi joddle, It isn't in the wrong section. Networking is not my speciality which is why I have not responded. Hopefully somebody else here can assist you.
  8. Cheers Pete - I have seen this numerous times on F-Book and ignored it every time. :)
  9. Hi Jim Happy New Year to you and your family. Glad to hear that your W7 machine is up and running again and that it didn't cost you too much. I have not seen the contribution link for some time. Perhaps Bob removed it. Thanks for the thought :)
  10. Hi Annie You posted this - click here - a little while back when you were having similar problems. You thought then, that the problem was resolved after you had re-booted the router. Have you tried unplugging the router - leave for 30 seconds then plug in again and re-boot it ? If you connect the laptop directly to the router using a cable [ assuming that the laptop has an appropriate socket ] do you see any difference ?
  11. Happy New Year Ned - Hope Aus isn't too hot :)
  12. Hi - and thank you for the update. Glad the system is working for you :)
  13. Let us know how you get on :) Thinking about it - as the key is held on the M-Board it shouldn't make any difference.
  14. Hi All I can suggest is that you give it a try. Swap one of the HDDs into the faster machine. If the machines are virtulally identical as you say then the Motherboards should be the same. This being the case you should be able to swap the HDDs You can easily find out. :) Suggest that you only try one machine. You may find that some of the drivers need updating - assuming that the machine boots up - which it should. If this works I don't think that the license key will need swapping over. With Win 10 the key is held on the Motherboad in the UEFI firmware. If you are swapping the HDDs then I doubt that you will even be asked to authenticate the "new" hardware.
  15. Hi Good to hear that your expected speed is back. I suspected [ previous post ] that it was an external issue. I am not surprised that Orange made no mention of it to you. Why let a little thing like connection speed get in the way of a sale ?? Let's hope that the New Year brings you better luck :)
  16. Hi Bob Hope that you and yours had a great Christmas. :)
  17. Let us know how you get on :)
  18. I would think that ...... worst case - your machine would run slow. [ unlikely ] The RAM looks compatible so you should not do any damage.
  19. Hi Gavin It could be OK. The RAM that you have is DDR4 The voltage is correct [ 1.2v ] The M-Board is compatible with 2400 The Timing - 16-16-16 .........seems to be compatible too There is nothing in the RAM specs which is a cause for concern. The guy from eBuyer may be right. It is up to you if you want to give it a try.
  20. Hi and welcome to ExTS The QVL [ Qualified Vendors List ] for compatible memory for your M-Board is here: click here The Memory you quoted is DDR4 2400 [ BLS2C4G4D240FSC ] Looking at the QVL your chosen memory is not listed - I only had a quick look
  21. I hope you are happy with the results on Monday Jim. Take care :)
  22. It seems that you are receiving help from Rustys on another help site. Why post the same thing on 2 sites ? You are probably going to get similar suggestions and sometimes even conflicting opinions which means that one, or both Administrators, are wasting their time.
  23. This obviously needs fixing - and is probably the reason why you cannot access the net. Have you installed the driver from the memory stick - or will it not install ? In Device Manager - right click on the Etherenet Controller then click on Update Driver. There will be two options. Click on the one that indicates "Browse My Computer" or something like that. Make sure that the memory stick is in the USB port. If this fails - try copying the drivers from the memory stick to a folder on the desktop and try the Update Driver option again. What is the exact make and model number of your Win7 machine ?
  24. Good to hear - Glad that it was that simple :)
