  1. Waterfox will be based on Firefox - so deleting individual cookies should be possible :)
  2. Hi Which browser are you using ? Suggest deleting the cookie cache or - if you can - delete only the Gmail cookies.
  3. Sounds like an expensive do Jim - but obviously it is up to you. Nice to have a handy son-in-law :)
  4. Hi Jim Is this the Central Processor Unit [ the main "chip" on the Motherboard ] ?
  5. Silly question Jim - did you click the OK button ? Also try Select an image > right click > Properties > Security > Click on your name Do you have full control ? Are any of the boxes unchecked ?
  6. Excellent - glad it was that simple :)
  7. Hi, Have you tried ... Right click on a photo Properties A box will open and there should be "Opens With" and "Change" Click on the down arrow and select the option that you want. Then click OK> You will need to do this with other file types [ .jpg - .png - etc ]
  8. Hi Regarding Chrome... Try re-setting Chrome. Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar. [ This will be on the far right after the address bar ] Select Settings. Click Show advanced settings and find the "Reset browser settings” section. Click Reset browser settings. In the dialog that appears, click Reset. Now set your email address as the default. See if this does it.
  9. Glad that worked out ok for you :) Regarding 2 entries for AVG - This is probably ok. [ I don't use AVG ] Presumably both are ticked? If there are no problems with AVG starting I would leave well alone :)
  10. Hi Start - type in ..... msconfig .... hit Return Click on "Startup" Look down the list to see if "Steam" is listed [ it may be named differently but recognisable from "Train Simulator." ] If it is there untick the box and click OK You will need to reboot. See if this helps.
  11. Hi With the drive plugged in .... Start - type in .... dskmgmt.msc ...... then hit Return You will see something like this .. Disk 0 is usually your main drive. You have another partition [ D: ] which should show up. Your USB Drive with the memory stick in MAY show up if it is recognised. This may be F: What do you see ?
  12. Hi, Can you try them in another machine? If so - do you get the same result ?
  13. From what I can discover the latest version of MBAM is 3.6.1 - this came out on 19th September this year. Which version do you have ?
  14. Thanks for the update Bob :)
  15. Hi and welcome to ExTS You need to give Open Office a try. ..........Click Here Looks similar to M$ Office - is compatible with M$ Office - is totally free - and no nag screens either. Open Office will open M$ Word documents, however, if you want to save your Open Office [ free ] documents to be opened by M$ Word you will need to select "Word 97" from "Save as Type" when saving your document. I have used this for years.
  16. I did say that some DVD Players have problems with disks burned on home computers. You didn't answer my original question. Can you see ALL of the photos if you try the DVD in the computer where you burned the disk ? I gave you a link that advised re. burning images. Was this of any use? Ashampoo link - have you tried this? HDMI Lead - presumably this was not of any use ?
  17. Hi Aura and welcome to ExTS Can you see all of the photos if you try the DVD in the computer where you burned the disk ? Some DVD players do have problems with disks burned on a home computer. There is some helpful advice here - How to burn a CD or DVD in Windows 10 (step-by-step) You could try Ashampoo Burning Software from here - Ashampoo® Burning Studio FREE You will need to register your email address with them You will probably get nag screens to buy the Pro version - ignore these if you do decide to install it. If you want to simply see the photos on your TV screen you can use a HDMI cable direct from your computer to the TV [ assuming that both have HDMI connections ]
  18. Cheers Bob - I assumed that it was an external problem :)
  19. I still think that a 8 / 9 year old hard drive is too old to use as a back-up drive. :)
  20. You mentioned photos etc in your last post. If you format the external drive you will certainly lose this data. So eight years worth of backups have disappeared ? Having a drive that is 9 years old for backups is not a good idea. These things don't last forever. :(
  21. Happy to hear that your machine seems to be behaving itself :)
  22. You could try the monitor on a different machine. This would confirm that it is ok.
  23. Are you happy to go inside the case ? If so ......... Switch off at the wall. Leave the plug in to maintain the earth connection. Take the side panel off. Locate the Video card. The video cable will be attached to it. Unplug the cable. [ This assumes a video card - some systems have a chip soldered to the motherboard ] The Video card will be held in by single screw. [ remove this carefully ] Try booting up without the card. - Any beeps / error messages on screen? Clean the copper contacts with a pencil eraser. Replace the Video Card and cable. You can leave the the side panel off. [ be careful ] Test the system again. If no go ....... Locate the RAM. If you have two Modules just remove one. Test again. No go ? Replace the RAM module and remove the other. [This assumes that you have 2 modules ] If only one module remove this Test. Let me know the results. Any questions - just ask :)
  24. What did you used to select from F8 options? This would seem to indicate that the monitor is actually OK Try unplugging the video cable from both ends and plug back in. Check the pins to see if any are bent or broken. Do you get POST beeps? One beep is normal. A sequence of beeps indicates a problem. You will only get beeps if you used to get one single beep. Can you hear M$oft Chimes? In other words the system has booted up but no picture. If none of the above..... Can you hear the Hard Drive spinning?
