1. Can you connect with this machine if you use a cable direct to the router ? ================= Right click on the monitor icon ( bottom right of screen ) > select "Repair" Please report any error message ================= Start > Run ............type in ....cmd ......ENTER at the prompt type in ......ipconfig /release then type ipconfig /renew There is a space after ipconfig Also try switching the router off for a minute then turn back on again.
2. It is when the card is under load that the problems tend to arise. If your friend is willing to lend you his this will confirm one way or the other :)
3. Hi and welcome to ExTS The "Reset Password" can only be used if you created a "Reset Password" CD. (you would know if you did this) I don't understand why you cannot get onto the guest account - this should not be passworded. You should also be able to log into your son's account. If this is passworded he should be able to give you this. We cannot help with passwords as a matter of forum policy. All I can suggest is that you ask your son to log in and, if he has Admin rights he can remove the password from your account.
4. Hi and welcome to ExTS 1. Which Operating System do you have ? 2. Has this connection ever worked ? 3. Start > Run > type in ..............devmgmt.msc .................ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters What is listed ? 4. Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?
5. Stupid of me to suggest it !! Take a look here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK Look under "Archived Files" and put in the relevant details You want chipset drivers. It doesn't have 98 as an option - but 2000 should be fine ( I hope :) ) You can use the same method to get the other drivers you need. You may have a problem with compatability with some drivers.
6. Hi The NVIDIA ( which you will need to connect with the ethernet cable ) has been disabled or is not functioning properly. Try right clicking on it > enable.
7. Hi, Depending on where you have the machine set up you could always consider mounting a new PSU outside the case. Looks a bit odd but it would get around the problem. 250 Watts is very basic and is what was used on older systems. The newer ones come with a little bit more power. I doubt that you will find a card that will run off that PSU.
8. Either let us know the make and exact model number of your computer or take a look at the motherboard itself and on it there will be ( in larger letters ) something like P8Z68-V This is just an example - yours will be different. Speccy may tell us too http://www.piriform.com/speccy EDIT: Just tried Speccy - this gives us all the information we need.
9. I'll put money on the video card.
10. From my last post........... There should be a monitor icon bottom right of screen - right click on this and select "Repair" Start > Run ..........type in ..........devmgmt.msc ...........ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters What is listed ? Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?
11. It is not an AntiVirus. Take a look at MS Essentials.
12. I think that just about confirms it :)
13. The only way you could do this would be to install XP as you suggest then, after putting it in the Notebook you would need to do a Repair Installation using the original installation CD. I doubt very much if it would boot when first put in the Notebook as Windows would recognise a different environment ( motherboard etc ) The Repair Installation would not remove any data / files etc.
14. Bluesplayer is probably best equipped to answer this one. You have picked an OS that is not supported by Microsoft anymore and you may well have a few problems getting hold of the drivers you are looking for. Whilst you wait for Bluesplayer .............Which motherboard do you have?
15. Many thanks
16. Hi I assume that you want to transfer everything across to the bigger drive - including Win7 ? If this is correct there is a tutorial on creating an image here: http://kenspchelp.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=190 The software has been updated since I wrote the tutorial so some of the images may not be correct.
17. Hi, Your new card will fit - and you won't need a new PSU either. I can't see from your link if the motherboard is a standard ATX but the case sizes suggests that it is.
18. Hi, I have a small problem. ( or rather you do ) You know how to overclock but not how to take a RAM module out ????? ====================== This is a small sample of what was found on a spammers database. The IP Address is yours. Explain please ......................
