  1. Hi mal and welcome to ExTS I assume that you will like my avatar? I took the photo in Scotland.
  2. No he isn't - he was around when the abacus was invented :) Good to hear that your system is running as it should.
  3. XP equivalent to WLAN Autoconfig. Just located this ( it may or may not be useful ) http://www.rm.com/Support/ProductInformation.asp?cref=PRD473731&nav=0&refe Connect up with the cable to the router. Go back to Device Manager Right click on the D-Link device > Update Driver Software This will check to see if there are and more recent drivers for the device.
  4. Start > type in ........services.msc ...............ENTER Scroll down to WLAN Autoconfig Is the service started (under "Status" ) and set to Auto ?
  5. Hi and welcome to ExTS I have merged your two threads. Congratulations - it would have taken us a long time to find that one :) Can you let us know which Flash Players were conflicting - this may help others with a similar problem.
  6. Hi Is this what you are using? http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=11 It could be that there is a fault with the device itself. When you said "Wireless LED does not light up" were you referring to the device itself? Do the LEDs light up on the device ? (assuming that this is what you use )
  7. Yes it does. Sorry - I got side-tracked. You have a 500Watt PSU and the card only needs 400Watt so you will be ok there too.
  8. OK - get back to me when you are ready to continue. :)
  9. Hi again, Take a look here - it explains how to remove the hard drive. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/sxl1645/en/sm/hdd.htm#wp1109848 I think the drive will be SATA but take a look here - just to make sure. http://kenspchelp.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=75 Assuming it is SATA then you will need an external enclosure to put it in to connect to another system. "]click here This is cheap - but it works. I have one. If you are happy so far - let me know when you have the enclosure. It will take a few days to arrive.
  10. what is listed ?
  11. Hi and welcome to ExTS Which part of France are you in ? Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove If IE9 is there click on it to uninstall. IE will revert to an earlier version.
  12. Are you sure that the recovery disks are for this specific laptop ? I would suggest at this point that we remove the hard drive from the laptop and connect it to a working pc via an external enclosure. From there we can test the drive and recover any data that you need from it. Are you happy to do this? if the drive is SATA ( not IDE ) then there is a very cheap enclosure from Amazon available.
  13. Can you let me know the exact error message please? Which version of IE are you using ? There should be an option in Tools > Manage Add Ons to turn them off. Do this and try connecting again.
  14. Outside chance - try "Last Known Good Configuration"
  15. Hi and welcome to ExTS I assume that the laptop had a previous owner if it was doing this right from the start ? Can you get to the Advanced Startup options by tapping F8 ( after switching on ) about once per second ? If so there may be an option to "Repair this Computer" If this is there click on it and follow the prompts.
  16. What about the second part to my previous post ?
  17. Thanks for the additional information. Silly question - there should be a switch to turn on / off the Wireless Adapter - is this switched on ? ============== Start > type in .....devmgmt.msc ...........ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ? What is listed ?
  18. It depends what you want to spend. Take a look here: click here
  19. I also read somewhere that using a fixed IP Address rather than Auto sorted a similar problem.
  20. Hi and welcome to ExTS Here is your problem. If the router is not wireless enabled then you will not be able to connect to anything - not even the router. Try unplugging it from the mains - leave for 30 seconds - plug it in again. The wireless LED must be on if you are to be able to connect wirelessly. can you connect if you use an ethernet cable direct to the router ?
  21. Hi and welcome to ExTS Sounds like a hot Video Card. Download speccy from here: you want the free version http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download It will analyse your system and give you (amongst other things) temperatures. This will give us an indication of the Video Card temp. Take the temps when playing one of the games.
  22. Please do NOT post multiple times for the same question - you only create work for us deleting the additional posts. Can you post the error you are getting now again please - I inadvertently deleted your last post when sorting out your multi-posting.
  23. Try the FixIt button here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 It will reset IE to defaults. If you are still having problems please post the full error message.
  24. I can't locate the specs for your computer. The Packard Bell site is useless! It is easy enough to find if you have onboard video - take the panel off and have a look. If the 2 VGA sockets are connected to the card then you don't have onboard. Your card is running hot. If the 2 VGA sockets are on the one card and one of them isn't working then this is another indication that the card is on it's way out. I think it needs replacing. The only way to test it is to put it in another system and run speccy again to see what the temps are.
  25. I think that must be your m/board as it has N15235 on it. take a look here for cards: click here Remember to look up the system specs of the card to make sure your 500Watt PSU is good enough. Some cards will require 1 or 2 PCIe 6 pin power connectors from the PSU. You can get Molex ( normal power connector ) adapters if yours does not have them.
