  1. Hi BeeJay Regarding MBAM removal: Download Revo-Uninstaller from here - click here You want the FREE DOWNLOAD version not the Portable. Install and run it. You should see MBAM listed. Click on this to highlight > then click on "Uninstall" on the toolbar at the top. It may take a few minutes for any action to take place. It will give you the option to scan for left over files and registry entries. If you are unsure about any of this then simply leave this option alone. [ or ask :) ] ================== Does your external drive show up in Disk Management ? Click on Search [ bottom left of screen ] type in - diskmgmt.msc - hit ENTER You should see your main drive and any partitions also your DVD drive PLUS the external drive. I am wondering if the external drive is formatted ?? Does it show as a Disk number ? Disk 0 will be your main drive [ and any partitions - C: and E: on my image ] Your DVD Drive is usually D: My external Flash Drive is showing as Disk 1 - It is formatted [ Fat32 ] and is showing "Healthy" Yours, if formatted, may say "NTFS" We need to know : 1 - is it showing in Disk Management 2. - Does it have a Drive Letter [ F: for instance ] 3. - Is it formatted or does it say something like "Raw" My DVD Drive was shown below the External Drive [Disk 1 ] in my image but was cropped off
  2. Which system have you used to create an image of your external drive Ray ?
  3. Hi Ray, If you are using Macrium Reflect you must be careful to keep the original rescue CD that you created. We did find a while back when testing this that the re-install failed if we used an updated rescue CD.
  4. Hi, I think that if the Premium trial period runs out MBAM will defer to the Free option if you don't purchase an activation code. Starbuck may be able to confirm this for us :)
  5. Hi Ray I thought I would hold back to see if your hard drive would cope. Normally software that creates a system image checks the destination drive first. :)
  6. Is your wife's machine 32 or 64 bit Jim ?
  7. Hi Jim So - you are not getting the reminder regarding 2 same Product Codes anymore ? Regarding IE: Take a look here: 64 Bit Systems - C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\ 32 Bit Systems - C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ When you get to the IE folder you will see the IE icon [ iexplore ] - there may be other similar icons with different names ......ignore these. Right click on this and select Copy. Then go back to the Desktop > right click on a blank place > Paste.
  8. Is this the same Product Key that is on your machine Jim ? If so - it is illegal [ according to M$oft ] to use the same product key on two machines. If this is the case then I have to advise you to remove one of the installed Operating Systems.
  9. Ahh - I understand why. M$oft will only allow one copy of the OS to be installed on one machine. You would think that they would relent as Win7 is no longer mainstream supported [ since 2015 ] - but no !! Was this an "Upgrade" disk ? What does it say on it ? If it is an "Upgrade" disk it is not a simple case of popping it into the drive and doing a clean install. Take a look here - click here
  10. Congratulations Jim - I will chalk this up as "solved" :)
  11. No - this isn't as simple as that Jim. It isn't possible to copy the DVD directly to USB drive and expect it to perform in exactly the same way as the DVD. The USB drive would need to be specially prepared and then the DVD install files copied properly too. It isn't a simple process. Yep - if it is working leave well alone :)
  12. Hi Jim It is not always possible to install Windows on one machine then put the HDD in another and have it function properly. The older the OS the less chance you have of this working. This is probably why it went into "Repair Mode" I am not sure what you could have altered in the Bios. It may have been the Boot Order - but this usually works down the list until it finds an OS to boot up. Good to hear that your wife's machine is working again. Boot it up a good few times before you spend out on the Disk Drive.
  13. Hi Jim. I am a bit confused here Jim ..... You put an old 80GB HDD in the machine in place of the 500GB [ problem ] one. The 80GB drive was empty. How did this prove that the original 500GB drive had died ? Do you have any means of connecting the 500GB drive to another machine [ USB port ] ? An enclosure ? Cable ? If you do we can run a test on the drive and we may be able to get at the files / photos etc too.
  14. Hi, I get a time out when I click on your link. I wouldn't have thought that F-F would be asking you to download anything other than updates - and these would be done automatically. Also a quick google on the details from the link brings up nothing - which is odd too.
  15. I have read that it could be the Hard-Drive too Jim If you can get at the hard drive and take it out it is possible to connect it to another machine and run some tests on it. Also - it may be possible to access files etc and re-claim them. This video may help:
  16. Ragnar23, As others have indicated this seems to be the logical cause of your problem. Did you try what what joddle suggested ? [ returning the original RAM to the system or taking out the new RAM if the original 8Gb is still in ]
  17. Thanks for jumping in Rustys - much appreciated :)
  18. That's good to hear Jim :)
  19. This link takes you to the AMD site. - click here If you get re-directed let us know. There is a "Automatically Detect and Install Your Driver" button.
  20. Hi Jim, Go back to Device Manager. Click the > next to Display Adapters - right click your Video Adapter > select "Update Driver" Make sure you have an internet connection. Let Windows look for a driver automatically This doesn't always produce a positive result - but it is worth a try as a first step.
  21. You are welcome Jim :)
  22. Hi Jim This article may explain why you cannot read the Region 1 DVD - click here Both Windows and your DVD player check for a region code. Some DVDs are not assigned a regional code at all - so will play on any DVD player. Scroll down the article for more information.
  23. As I said - I don't use Telegram so cannot make any more suggestions sorry.
  24. We always recommend that you get drivers from the manufacturers site Ray.
  25. Hi Ray - did you install the drivers for your printer ? The original CD would be of no use as it would have been for Vista. Some older hardware is not supported by Win 10.
