Hi George, Another obvious question - is the wifi turned on ? Like Starbuck - I am not familiar with this tablet :(
-
Give it a good try without extensions Bob - if you don't get the error popping up then it looks like it could be on of them causing the problem :)
-
Let me know how you get on Bob :)
-
Hi Bob, Not come across this one before. Try running Chrome in "Incognito mode" Click the Chrome menu button (☰). Select "New incognito window". A new Chrome window will open with the Incognito logo in the upper-left corner. ... If all is well in this mode then it could possibly be one of the extensions causing the problem.

Hi Zippy, Whilst it IS possible to delete IE updated versions, Internet Explorer is an integral part of Windows so deleting IE 11 say, will only revert IE to an earlier version. Starbuck should be able to give you a bit more information on this :)

Window 7 cannot run "some EXE" files.
KenB replied to Emily185's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi Emily You don't say for how long you have had this problem. It may be possible to do a System Restore to a date just prior the start of the problem. Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore This will restore the system settings back to what they were at the selected date. Your files, data, photos, etc will be fine. You will lose updates and and installed software from after the selected date. ================= A bit of advice: We don't recommend using Registry Cleaners of any kind. The Registry controls the running of the whole system and if the wrong keys are altered / removed by a piece of software your machine could end up useless. -
I assume that this only happens in F-F ?
-
Good to hear Richard. Nothing wrong with those temperatures :)
-
Hi J-B Try clearing the F-F cache - see here
-
I have just logged out and logged back in with no problems J-B Is it only this forum ?

This is a debatable one. It depends on what you have in terms of other fans and what they are doing. You need air circulating quickly around the case. [ This is why I suggested earlier to reverse the fan ] I wonder if the pump is finding it difficult to move the liquid through the pipes in this position? It could be a bearing in the pump that is worn [ hence the noises you hear ] and turned through 90 deg there is less load on the bearing. I hope your new cooling system gives you no problems :)

Hi George, Yes - it is a scam ! I have had phone calls claiming to be my ISP and saying there are router problems - NO there are not !! I have had emails from "my bank" telling me there has been a security breach. - I don't think so !! You are best advised to do exactly what you did - phone the relevant company and ask them if they have been trying to contact you. Under no circumstances allow anybody access to your computer. We have been asked on numerous occasions to do it from here - we don't as a matter of policy. Don't click on links from emails, Contact the company direct. :)

Hi George, The only real test is to take the desktop back into the house - connect up - and see if the WiFi is working. If it is then it is the signal that is the problem. It will get weaker as the distance from the router increases. I even have problems with my own router and it is only upstairs!! If the wifi is working in the house then you will need to boost the signal to your office. I use this method - click here It is only good if the mains power in your office is on the same circuit as your house wiring. What this method does is to use your house wiring circuit to carry the signal from a unit plugged in close to the router to a receiver in your office via the mains wiring. The system I have has an ethernet cable option on the unit that would be in your office - so you could use wifi or cable. This is a cheaper option based on the same technology - click here It is NOT wireless but allows you to use an ethernet cable to your desktop in the office. There are cheaper ones if you do a bit of searching. It is possible to get wireless / cable extenders but these are more expensive. You need to find out if the desktop wireless adapter is actually working and [ as I suspect ] the problem is a weak signal.

SSD doesn't get recognized by BIOS/OS
KenB replied to NovaProspekt's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
If the guy in the PC shop got the same result I would return said SSD. Don't forget to explain that you have tried the SSD on 3 machines with the same result. Good luck - let us know how you get on :) EDIT: You just beat me to it J-B :) -
Hi Richard, "....gurgling ..." I would suggest that the system needs bleeding [ air ] BUT the H55 is a pre-sealed unit so technically no need for bleeding. Is your radiator fan intake or extract ? Try swapping the airflow on this.

Error Code 0XC0000185 & 0XC0000142
KenB replied to RoyPks's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Sorry Roy - I assumed that you had tried these commands [ post 8 ] from a command prompt after booting up. The ".volume could not be locked " message seemed to indicate this. The link I gave you used the install disk to access the command prompt. If the machine is booting up - leave well alone :) -
Hi Richard Do you see any difference if you leave the side panel off ? This is high. You could try cleaning the thermal paste off the pump and CPU with rubbing alcohol and apply a very thin layer then refit.

SSD doesn't get recognized by BIOS/OS
KenB replied to NovaProspekt's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi and welcome I assume that the drive was working at some point to install Windows ? This could be a PSU issue ..............but this doesn't explain why the SSD doesn't show up in the BIOS ?? This does sound as if the SSD is dead or dying :( Connect the SSD to another machine and see what shows up in Disk Management. Start - type in .....dskmgmt .....Enter If no show then connection issues or dead SSD. -
Error Code 0XC0000185 & 0XC0000142
KenB replied to RoyPks's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
"......volume could not be locked ...." I think you are getting the above because you are working with Windows active. There is a /force addition to the code that you could use but this may cause problems from within Windows. I have just read the thread over again. This doesn't sound like a corrupt BCD or MBR otherwise you wouldn't be able to boot up at all. The BIOS does send code to RAM re. BCD and MBR. I wonder if the RAM is at fault. It is easy to test ....... Remove one of the RAM modules and try booting up. If the same condition is found swap the RAM modules over and try the other one. [This is assuming two modules in the system ] ========================= I also found this that may be worth having a look at http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/fix-0xc0000034-error-windows-10 It will do no harm to rebuild both MBR and BCD if we can. -

Hi Roy I was hoping the "Label" would have said "Main Drive" or given some indication as to which Drive letter Windows is loaded onto. :( Your DVD Drive is labeled "F" - this is normally "D" unless you change it. Please do the following: Go back to the Command Prompt. Type in .......diskpart .....Enter Type in .......list volume .....Enter Type in .......select volume X [ where X = the volume that has C as the Ltr ] .....Enter Type in .......detail partition .......Enter You should see something like this ..... Under "Info" [at the bottom right ] I have "Boot" and "Status" is "Healthy" If you don't get this for "C" then try "D" and "E" If "Boot" shows up on D or E then this is why our attempts to rebuild BCD is failing. The size of the partition would also give some indication. The main partition is usually one of the largest. [ in GB ] Once you have the information type in .....exit .....Enter -
Hi, You didn't reply here - http://extremetechsupport.com/threads/17434-Search-Can-t-Find-Any-Files-In-Windows-Explorer?p=114602#post114602 Try Last Known Good Configuration Constantly tap F8 about once per second after switching on. You will be taken to the Advanced Startup Options If still a problem: Try a System Restore to a date just before your problem started. click here Your files, photos etc will be fine. You will lose any software installed after the selected date and registry changes after this date too. If still a problem: Faulty RAM can cause errors like this one. If you can access the RAM modules [ assuming two ] try taking one out and boot up off the other. Swap the modules over if there is no difference.
