Cannot update Vista Windows, with the update feature. View this thread

after a very long time and repeated efforts to correct error 8007370B for win7 64bit have found no satisfactory resulotion 1. installed and ran windows update repair--reported sucess 2. ran MS Fix -- also reported sucess 3. found what I believed was to be the suppose to be a hot fix for his version issue kbkb947821 install was sucessful 4. disabled firewall antivirus as added precausion. Randomly updating and installing with Windows 8's app store is not working. I even tried Trouble Shooting it and it said the problem was "fixed" yet the app still couldn't update, and it says there's an error...I tried installing an app and that didn't work out for me. HELP! View this thread

I'm unable to start my notebook after installing windows 7 sp1. The error code I get after everything's booted up and I'm at a black screen is "Fatal error c0000043 applying update operation 98 of 76402 (ntkrnlpa.exe)"I've tried rebooting in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command, and last known good configuration, but to no avail. I receive the same message each time.I am also unable to use the windows start up repair, as the screen just goes black after I pick the option. Same too if I decide to use the system recovery function from the hard drive (I did not also make a recovery disk). Windows update isn't working. It doesn't find new updates, in fact, it hasn't done anything for some time, and so other programs aren't working either. Microsoft Forefront doesn't analyze the computer, and it shows a box with 'error 0x80070424', but when I look for how can I fix that, I see everything has to do with the problem with the updates. The Fix-it Troubleshooter says there isn't any poblem in the system, but obviously there's one. I've also tried restarting windows services in services.msc, but neither 'Background Intelligent Transfer Service' nor 'Windows update' files are there; it's not that their status is stopped, they don't even appear on the services list. I cannot try to reinstall the updater again, because when I try that, it says it's already installed, but while it doesn't appear in the programmes list it can't be deleted to install a new one.
