I asked several questions about an error message (80007005) which I kept receiving when trying to access updates. I finally received a patch from Microsoft which fixed the problem and now want to unsubscribe from the threads so I stop getting answers from the community which is only wasting their time trying to be helpful. Every time I try to install a new program or even run Task Manager or msconfig or regedit the user access control pop-ups asking me if I want to run this program or not. I click yes but then nothing happens. It just stays on that background screen and nothing ever comes up. It used to be fine and this only recently started. Not sure how this happened or how to change it so I can install new programs or updates. View this thread

I have had the same 2 updates for microsft.NET framework 4 downloaded and installed ("successfully") everyday for the last 2 weeks. Sometimes 2 times a day. Something must be wrong. I even downloaded the windowsupdate diagcab and it apparently fixed something, but it is still happening. HELP View this thread

I had been having a lot of problems with Windows Update in Vista, so I performed a fresh install this morning, but I'm still seeing the same problems. Here's exactly what I've done so far: Wiped the hard drive (filled it with zeroes). Installed Windows Vista SP1 from scratch. Installed video, audio, and network drivers from my PC manufacturer. Tried to run Windows Update. After clicking "Check for updates" and waiting a few moments, this error appears: "Windows could not search for new updates" Also, the error code 8024402F is displayed. I've tried a lot of the suggestions that I've found in these forums, but nothing has worked. Please help! View this thread

When I try to download nd install security essentials, it downloads ok. When I hit the run button to the install program, it starts to extract the files, but then stops, says file is corrupt, and aborts the installation. Same thing happens if I just try to run it straight from the wesite, without downloading the file first. Would like to try this malware, but will have to go to something else if I cannot download and install it. Regards, John View this thread

I am currently running 'Windows 7 64 Bit'. Normally, my updates through 'Windows Update' work flawlessly; however, this time I encountered some odd problems. The problem occured when attempting to install 'Intel Corporation - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2 - Intel® HD Graphics 4000', which was recently recommended to me as an update. When attempting to install the update, my computer refuses to output any video signal. I have already checked if it switched the outputs; however, that was not the problem as neither my graphics card nor the integrated graphics supplied anything. The computer itself is still on, but I have found no evidence that it is still in the OS. Is there a possibility that it is a bad driver, or am I just experiencing bad luck? If I turn the computer on it acts normal until the windows 8 logo comes up. After that the screen says 'please wait' and there's a loading symbol, but I've waited for hours and nothing changes, it's still showing the same screen. How can I fix this? View this thread

Whenever I try to get updates on my Windows 8 Pro, through both Control Panel and Change PC settings, the PC setting OR the control panel window hangs after some time. Although it shows searching for updates for like one minute. How do I get past this? I have not been able to run updates for Os: Win 7, 64 bit (hp) for over a year. I had Norton preinstalled on the comp. Now I am using McAfee Total Security that I bought last week. I WAS HAVING INSTALLATION ERRORS CONSTANTLY..SO I DID A FACTORY RESTORE AND THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS GOING FINE. sp1 SHOWS SUCCESSFUL...THEN SHOWS NEEDS UPDATE AGAIN AND SP2 WILL NOT UPDATE UNTIL SP1 IS INSTALLED. I EVEN DID THE HOTFIX 947821 FOR INSTALLATION ERRORS. I RESTART AFTER EVERY INSTALLATION, STILL SHOWS NEEDS AGAIN. EVEN MANUAL INSTALLATION IS NOT WORKING. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! 2/25 I tried manual installation again...restarted several times, so I thought it was working. Does not show in Installed updates. each time before it showed successful...I thought purhaps I could uninstall and start fresh...but again...does not show in installed updates. Could it be that the individual components are installed and SP2 does not recognize these as SP1 and therefore will not install as sp2? I am trying to get my laptop XPS M1330 to update Vista Ultimate 32 bit to SP1 and then on to SP2. All other updates have been installed successfully, but on SP1 I get "failed to install updates error 88070570" using Windows Update and 0x800288c5 with the standalone. I reformatted my xp computer. The original cd is before service pack 1. When I try to upgrade i can't access the update page because i have ie 6. when i try to upgrade the browser i can't because it needs service pack 2. I have no trouble connecting on my home network to my windows 7 computer and can transfer files that way. Is there a way to download service packs 1,2,3 and then transfer them over? I found what looks to be service pack 1 but do not see service pack 2 View this thread
