I have tried numerous times to install SP1 and have yet to be successful. I started by using the built in windows update and repeatedly got error:Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200d: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932). I tried numerous fixes including the system readiness tool, SFC found no errors, and I am clean booting. Next I manually downloaded the update and received: Changes to an update(Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB976932)) failed during Service Pack installation. I would like to know more about this system service exception error I as well as others have been recieving. will there be a solution in sight or will you remain numb to this problem so many of us are occurring.I am only so angry because my last windows 7 Toshiba had a similar crash experience when I would load more then one search browser, or listen to music simultaneously. pretty much any multitasking caused the computer to crash and I being an idiot just considered it to be an overheating issue and moved onto a new laptop, well with my new windows 8 laptop that I have yet to download anything other than spotify and a few programs used for school is experiencing BSOD and crashing, this is quite irritating and I would like to know what you plan to do instead of just some generic response on how to alternatively boot it in safe mode, if I purchased a new laptop I shouldn't be required to run it in safe mode... Security Update for Microsoft.NET Framework 3.0 SP2 Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86 (KB2756919) - this update has been added both manually and automatically every day since the beginning of January and on each occasion I get the message that it has failed. Although I am not a whiz kid I have tried everything that I can think of and have read reams of answers on different forums - all to no avail. Anyone got any suggestions please. My PC is on Vista Home Premium - Service Pack 2 - 32 bit system. My browser is Google Chrome and I have Kaspersky Security installed. If you cannot tell me how to get it installed can you please tell me how to cancel it altogether as it is using up my download/upload allowance from my Internet supplier. Many thanks. Beryl. Windows Defender was already preinstalled on my laptop by the shop I purchased my laptop from. I've got Windows 7. I've just kept downloading Window Defender updates, but I am wondering if I should I switch to Windows Essentials - is it better? If so, will I need to uninstall Defender to avoid conflicts? I have asked for help with this problem several times now, but have been unable to fix it thus far. My hard drive failed and once a new one was installed my Windows Updates no longer worked, the reason for this being 'Default Windows Update data locations have changed'. I cannot uninstall service pack 2 either because that too has disappeared from my add/remove programs, although still showing that I have it. Is there any way I can recover the appropriate files from the 'windows old' file and then paste them where they should be? Alternatively, is there some way to manually delete/remove service pack 2 so that I can do a fresh re-install? I am desperate to resolve this problem and would appreciate any help or guidance. Thanks and regards, Sharon View this thread

Bought a HP laptop less than two months ago and has been running fine until this morning. I had previously read about problems with Windows Updates and screens getting stuck but I have had no issues in past updates. The past few days my laptop has had a message, Windows will update in 2 days etc. I can not recall the update taking place as usually it takes place in the background however I recieved know error messages if anything did go wrong. I was usuing my laptop last night without any issues however this morning after turning my laptop on it has got stuck on the please wait screen and is not booting. Please help as I have very important university work to do. Thanks Daniel View this thread

Hello I have a problem. After update I got no response from mouse or keyboard on windows 8. I have tried two system restores. The update failed first then a automatic restart my Kb and mouse went down. Then went to diagnostic utility. Did system restore the first one told me that drive might be corrupt and to run chkdsk/r unspecified error 0x81000204. Then the second told me system restore failed to extract file (c:windowswindowsinfbth.pnf from restore point. Third time my hip pc told me to backup files using recovery manager. Just got done backing them up. It is telling me to use system recovery now. Any help? Please? View this thread

Have seen the same issue on here for this update on Windows XP, hopefully Server 2003 is similar enough that the fault finding suggestions are appropriate in my case too. The issue is as follows: The update shows as being needed via Windows Update, I install it, it doesn't error. Repeat. I've tried it with the McAfee antivirus uninstalled, no change. Using Windows 7 x64. For several months now I have been hiding windows updates related to IE 9 cumulative security updates. Windows Update would hang during the installation; the progress bar would get stuck at around 50% and I'd eventually have to reboot the machine. The machine would boot and try to continue the update, which would also hang. I'd have to power off the machine and when it restarted, it would roll back the failed update. Sometimes in the course of doing this my machine would end up with Aero turned off and I'd have to get that re-enabled, or restore from a restore point. All other Windows updates work fine. I tried all sorts of things to get past this, from running FixIt for Windows Update to uninstalling IE 9 (so that I could try to install it cleanly; no luck, this too hung) without success. So I finally hid the update.Since, then however, more IE 9 security updates have appeared and from time to time I try to install them with the same results: hang, reboot, hide the update. Today I tried installing the IE 10 preview, figuring it would supersede IE 9 and I'd be rid of the issue. No soap; IE 10 wouldn't install.I'm at the point where this has gone beyond annoying and I'm starting to worry about not having these security updates. I always keep my machine updated religiously via Windows Update and have never seen such an issue before.Any help would be appreciated! View this thread

toshiba satelite....windows updated and on reboot from failed updates laptop froze with black screen with options of f2 for setup or f12 for boot menue....30 minutes later using escape and ctrl/alt/del..booted to windows...all system config now changed no internet access and laptop now reverted to 2008 sometimes and 2013 sometimes ...services totally out of whack no sound...and boot with much coaxing takes up to an hour and sometimes not at all until battery removal and internal battery drained..ive ran virus scan complete which took 6 hours to run and have had 2 microsoft techs remote access my laptop and on reboot have same problem of boot freeze.techs have said its a update error and it is microsofts problem and they will fix it. but after two sessions and 5 hours of tech support my problem is now 2 hour boot time and to get a webpage up takes constant escape key pounding until I outrun the error prompt and it dissapears only to return upon next click of the key pad....my question I guess is anybody else having these pesty little quirks with update and if so ...HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP........thankyou.
