Hi, A number of my applications users, including my self suffer direct out of memory errors or System.ArgumentException: Parameter is not valid errors when creating a new Bitmap using System.Drawing.Bitmap..ctor(Int32 width, Int32 height, PixelFormat format). The errors stop upon de-installing KB2670838. There is a direct link between this patch and the errors. This is an application that has been running steady for years and now suddenly stops functioning with this Windows Update. It is an application that uses a large ammount of Bitmaps (5000+) and up to 500MB of memory to store these. Using visual basic.NET to compile the application. I think it is related to changes in the Windows Imaging Component that is utilized by GDI+. Anybody any idea why, what or how i can make my application work as it used to without forcing users to de-install KB2670838? I have never had a Windows Update break any of my software products before, it is quite an awfull experience to be so badly surprised by this :( best regards, Vic View this thread

why won't my computer perform a Windows update? View this thread

I installed the optional Platform Update for Windows 7 KB2670838 and after entering Save information, no file was created. I narrowed it down to both 32-bit and 63-bit IE 9.0 (latest update) since I was able to create the XPS file from Outlook, Word and Quicken. After not finding anything on Google or Microsoft Support, I did a restore back to pre-update and now I can save the XPS files again from IE. As a novice to Microsoft support, one would think it would be easier to report issues like this to Microsoft. View this thread

According to support.microsoft.com/kb/2640696 Consider the scenario that you recompile your application that must run in Windows XP or in Windows Server 2003. In this scenario, you must change #import msado15.dll to the following: #import msado28.tlb This works fine for Windows 7 developer, but the issue we have is some developers are still on Windows XP, so we are thinking of distributing the msado28.tlb alone with our application, so that regardless of platform, it will compile without issue. Here comes the question: what the licensing conditions are? Thanks. View this thread

I keep getting failed updates for updates: KB2670838, KB2758857, KB2685811, KB2685813, KB2726525, KB2750841, KB2763523, KB2773072, KB2779562, KB2687499 and KB2596848. I have tried everything on the error code list but have not been successful in getting the updates to install. I have tried installing them one at a time, with the firewall or antivirus turned off and with both turned off. I have checked the Lan settings and tried some of the suggestions on the discussion boards with no success. I receive error codes 8007370C and 800700663 View this thread

error 800B0100 win 764I have tried everything recommended right the way down to attempting to re-install win 7 64. Did the live update, etc., set to updrade - during the last but one stage win7 locked and when the pc was reset (powered off at mains) the only way possible and rebooted win7 reset itself to the original (corrupted) condition - so back to square 1. I have no problems with Win7 other than when I try to live update.Jerry View this thread

After a reinstall of my Windows Vista operating system following breakdown two months ago, and after a lot of updating including Service Pack 1, I keep being asked to install/update Service Pack 1 in routine updates. I have done this ten times over recent weeks but still keeps asking me to add SP1. I can`t add SP2 until SP1 is properly included. What can I do??? George. View this thread

Microsoft Windows Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) OS Architecture 64-bit There are currently two updates that I cannot install, they are: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2726535) Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2790113) I have tried the following things with no success: 1. The Windows Update troubleshooter. 2. Windows Fixit for Windows Update. 3. Every suggestion found here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/windows-update-error-code-800736b3-failes-to/98573891-eead-4257-8bf2-1fbac3f2a96a?page=1 as follows: a) I ran the System Update Readiness tool but it could not solve the issue. b) I ran a SFC scan which found 5 corrupt manifest files that it could not repair. I replaced these files following the instructions here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833. I then re-ran the scan and no further problems were found. c) I tried a clean reboot. d) The last option is no longer available. 4. I have run anti-virus just to be sure (Norton 360 Premier Edition, v 20.2.1.22) including the Norton Power Eraser. 5. I tried a system restore. 6. I tried restoring to a full system image back-up, and then trying everything all over again. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this issue short of reinstalling Windows. Please help! When I turn my computer on I never make it as far as launching Vista - I am told that "Configuring Updates: Stage 3 of 3" - 0% Complete. Do not turn off your computer. The update never updates - never goes past 0% Is there anything I can do to revert to the state before the "updates"? I don't have my Vista CD so I'm hoping for some help from the boot-up menu if possible. Many thanks in advance View this thread

Page Fault in Non-Paged Area Windows 7 Update
AWS posted a topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello, am hoping that perhaps someone can help me...on shutdown my computer automatically installed Windows updates. Since then, after my computer has been on for a few minutes a blue screen appears with an error Page Fault in Non-Paged Area. I rebooted my computer, but the same thing happened again. Through googling I was able to find out how to system reset my computer to a previous point in time (two weeks ago). My computer worked fine, however, when I shut it down in then automatically updated and of course the same blue screen then started appearing. So I have now reset my computer to two weeks ago again and also changed the settings so that Windows "checks for updates but lets me choose whether to download and install them"...and I am hoping that this will fix my problem for now. I can see that currently five updates are available: - ATI technologies Inc. Display - Radeio HD 6490M - Synaptics - Input - Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad - Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2574819) - Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2592687) - Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2709981) I am not sure which of these updates may be causing the problem and I'm assuming that never updating my computer ever again is an option as at some point there will be critical updates which I need? I am no computer/techy expert so any help you can give is much appreciated, I have been searching for a solution but I don't understand many of the responses people have been giving :) Many thanks View this thread -

I'm not sure if it was an update, but I've ran a virus scan and there's nothing coming up on that. Yesterday my computer started crashing frequently. I get the blue screen that says it needs to restart unexpectedly-I've sent in the crash reports but this morning in less than 2 hours it's happened 5 times. Any ideas? View this thread

My Application is setup on two webservers IIS 7.5 WS 2008 R2 SP1 and load is distributed by Load balancer. I'm getting issue after I installed the KB2743595 patch on web servers. Now if I stop anyone of web servers I'm not getting any issue but as soon as I start both IIS I'm getting errors in accessing the SVC. I'm generating the JS proxies in the script manager. I think the symptoms are similar to defined here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2740200 but when I try to get the fix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2537715) this does not have a download option. Thanks in advance. Amitabh View this thread

windows update cannot check for updates VISTA
AWS posted a topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
On one of the computers I'm managing I'm still running Vista 32 bit. The system is up to date with all service packs and regular updates applied and generally is running OK. Now I know a very similar problem has been posted in this circle before, but I believe mine is not the same.Ever since the February 2013 patch Tuesday, which, by the way, was executed all right, I have a Windows Update icon in the system tray with a notification that no check for updates can take place. However, the only option it gives is to go to the control panel, WINDOWS update. There any updates are perfectly visible. I can also check for new updates, and I can install them. Also, the automatic check and the automatic installation take place normally. So everything works OK, only the notification sits in the system tray and remains there. When new updates have been loaded the notification changes to "waiting to install", and after installation it goes back to "windows update cannot check".In other words, this is a nuisance message only.I've tried all kinds of fix-its, but they do not change this phenomenon. Any suggestions? View this thread -
Hi, my PC has just re-booted after installing update KB2670838 and since it has restarted Aero is no longer working! I've tried all the usual things i.e. Run SFC /SCANNOW - no issues found Stopped and Restarted Desktop Window Manager Session Manager Service - Service showing as running OK, No Change Run Aero troubleshooter which reports one issue Desktop Window Manager Disabled I've also rebooted several times while attempting repairs I'm now in the process of downloading the latest video driver to see if that will rectify the issue (I update all drivers on a regular basis as a matter of course) Apart from uninstalling the update or rolling back to an earlier point does anyone have any other ideas? Cheers, Mike View this thread
