I have been trying to download this update for a while now and keep getting error code Windows Update error 8024200d. I have done all the suggested fixes and nothing helps? How do I fix it and is it important? View this thread

So I let my laptop do it's standard updating -- you know, the one where you can postpone for up to four hours? So it got to 15%, screen went black but I figured it went to sleep so I hit moved over the mousepad, nothing. I hit the power button, nothing. So I figured it turned off and turned it back on, got the black screen that would let me do Safe Mode and was really confused. When I finally logged on, I got this message: "Windows did not pass genuine validation. Security Essentials will become disabled in 30 days if you do not resolve this issue." I went to Computer and found my Product ID but that didn't work. I literally couldn't type in the first number. I've had this laptop for six years and have never had this problem. What do I do? I did the update when it first came and it totally wrecked my system files would be corrupt when downloaded and other weird glitches. I restored to a previous restore point and the system worked fine again. I did all the other updates other than bing desktop and MSE KB2804527 update, and the system continues to be fine. I wiped out all system restore points, so I did not have to deal with the bad restore points, and created a new point. I tried the update again today and again it hosed the system. I restored to my manual restore point and system was fine again. So it is clearly KB2804527 breaks something when I try to install it I have no idea what to do at this point. View this thread

When I updated windows update to get the IE 10 update I found a different update by the the name of Platform Update for Windows 7 x64 (KB2670838). I installed the update and restarted my computer as instructed but when my computer rebooted and I tried to use the copy/paste function in Microsoft Word 2010 the application would not allow it and would give the error message "that selection is incorrect" or something like that. I also tried to edit the document in LibreOffice and save it as a different file format. Neither option worked. When I tried to scroll down web pages in Google Chrome instead I zoomed in and out of the pages. That problem was also encountered in MS Word. Another problem I encountered was the way links in the control panel and possibly all of windows file manager all opened in new windows on left click. When I figured out the problems started after I installed the update I immediately clicked on system restore and that restore fixed all the problems. What I want to know is if these problems will occur again if I reinstall the update. View this thread

I tried to log onto my user name and it is saying that she system service is not available. I have then logged onto another username and tried to install a hardware/software update which is recommended for the other user(which is not working) Once i click install i then get a error message - (WindowsUpdate_80070002) I have tried to follow the online steps to resolve this issue but it wont work! I'm having major problems with windows update, I have reported the problem to 'support' who have failed to resolve the issue, even though support were in control of my system for over 2 hours, most of that time was total inactivity. The level 1 technician (Shen) was very helpful and spent 30 mins or so trying to fix the problem, she then had to hand the problem over to a level 2 technician (Eldrik) who over the next hour and a half barely spent 10 minutes 'fixing' the problem. After seeing no activity for over 30 mins I asked if anyone was actually working on the problem and was abruptly disconnected. My initial problem was that windows update kept installing the same 2 updates every time the system was shut down (this meant that 'shutdown' usually took 20 mins or so) It has done this for weeks. The issue now (after support have helped) is that no updates will install nor will the wizard work at all. Where do I go from here, I'm really unhappy with the lack of service I've received. Hello, For over a week now my computer have been blue-screening and crashing on an extremely frequent (unpredictable) basis; with the only error message "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION". I am beyond frustrated, since I've researched countless forums and solutions to no resolve. Clearly, I am not the only one experiencing this on the Windows 8 operating system, and am wondering if this is a bug with the software, in which case, I'd expect an update from Microsoft. I recently installed updates from microsoft and after the updates were installed and the pc restarted, my pc was set back to the way I received it from the factory. Lost all my icons and setup. With the last updates (2/19, 22, 23) remote desktop and the accessories file disappeared. There is no notice, and no noise that the computer is making...that is usual for updates. I also have 26 important updates that won't update because of this error message. View this thread
