This last windows update. Kb274595 which has MS Net Framwork 4 , and server 2003 in its title, has crashed 3 of my computers. It locks up and after a couple of hours, if you power shut it down, it comes back with a message "Bootmgr missing". It took me an hour to fix the last computer. Installed win 7 Dec 2012(Sp1) running AthlonII X2 with 2 GB ram on 500 gb HD. Last updates (14) on January 10,2013 appears to have caused an extreme slowdown, it appears the HD is being accessed constantly. Have run, spybot, and malware, otherwise security via MSE.I think a complete re-install is going to be required as backup prior to 011013 were deleted from an external drive and my restore point appears to be only 011013 which includes the updates.Any suggestions on avoiding the format and reinstall?Thank you.! My knowledge of computers are very limited but I have been receiving a security update from Microsoft and I cannot get it to install it reads like this security update for Microsoft.net framework 1.1, SP1 on windows XP(which is what I use) windows vista and windows server 2008X 86 and that it has a number(KB2742597) when I cut my computer off at night it still tries to install this update but does not succeed how do you install something like this are how do you get rid of it Microsoft keeps sending me a request for error reports and I send them back like I should but nothing ever happens any help I could get would be deeply appreciated. I did go to Microsoft support but they wanted quite a bit of money to fix the problem and it made no sense to me that it's Microsoft's update to Microsoft's Windows so I don't know why I should have to pay them to fix their problem. hi catalyst control center: host application has stopped working error appears when i try to open catalyst control center or the switchable graphics program. this has happend twice and was resolved with a fresh install of windows. i am fairly sure it is caused by a windows update because problem started after installing updates. i have contacted dell and reinstalled the drivers a few times with no fix. my laptop now seems to auto control graphics by itself and can still play some games. graphcs card does still work, just seems to be a software issue . pretty sure the problem is from a windows update windows 8 pro genuine dell inspirion 15r se amd radeon hd 7730m and intel hd graphics 4000 thanks for any feedback View this thread

HI all, I had purchased windows 7 pc from India where win 8 upgrade option was available and, had registered for the same. Unfortunately I am currently in Tanzania where the same is not available. Can i surrender my win7 key, get it activated in a pc in India , purchase win 8 in India with my promo code and then reactivate in my own pc here? Will this work? I have Windows Vista Premium. The update of concern is Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332) This started on December 5, 2012 and initially failed to install. Since that time it has repeatedly promoted me to install it. It has been installed "successfully" after each prompt, over 38 times, sometimes six or so a day. Should I continually install it - ignore it or is there a way to stop this? Since this started when I start my computer it goes through a series of mini dumps - as many as eight times which began at the time of these many installations. I use McAfee for my antivirus program. I have Windows update set to inform me when updates are availableand check and instal updates each time I switch p.c. on. I prefer this to auto updates taking over p.c. with monthly update list. When installing windows defender updates they sometimes fail with error 800705B4. I have run FIXIT to no avail. On retrying Update it says non available. Timing issues are listed as a possible culprit How (in detail please) can I manually locate and retry failed updates? OR does widows recognise they are missing and include within next update? After reinstalling an original Windows XP Prof w/IE6 I can no longer update IE or Service Packs... The installs error out during the install process. What is going on with the updates? Can stand the new Windows Update interface. Can't find the links and not even sure if the ones I am finding are correct. I installed it a few times over the years and updated without issue....now problems. Window's update KB2742595 keep's popping up as an available, important update. I download it and when it tries to install, it gives an installition error Windowsupdate_800B010B and Windowsupdate_dt000? Is there a fix for this, or can I just ignore the update for now? My problem started when I have noticed that updates are not running automatically or manually shows error. I searched on Microsoft websites & applied kb947821. after applying hotfix kb947821 my old list of update is not seen. after installing this patch my windows update started functioning ok but shows only latest updates. i am using win7HB. kindly tell me what should i do for old updates to be visible in update history.
