Platform: xp3 Update: .NET 4 Auto update continues to recycle the dnld/install routine. Tried at least 6-8 times windows auto update completes cycle but won't take. No error msg. Downloaded x86 kb2742575. Completed the cycle but still no success. No err. msg. Tried windows update, the results were same as having downloaded the file. The site indicated successful install but it still isn't there. No err. msg. "Fix It". In short, "Fix It" didn't. Did however complete the cycle. Something about file area. View this thread

ok i cant find my post that i did originally post so sorry but i really need some help ok i did a format on my laptop currently running xp lap top around 2005 i have previously formatted my pc and had no issues putting on windows updates befor but now im having major problems, i keep getting error messages someone on here said what sp have i got i didnt know but error messages were originally saying i needed sp 3 so downloaded it then it said i needed sp 2 first so did that have rebooted and still nothing im still unable to get updates from windows website [Error number: 0x80240036] Can someone please help me out here in plain simple terms why and what i need to do because i cant run word 2010 on my pc cos it wants sp 3 which i did download but still nothing as far as im concerned the pc is still running in year 2005 ish????????? Update KB2756918 was successfully installed and shows in the history files as having been installed several times but still offers the update in the tray after restart. Ive used the microsoft fix it tool with no results. View this thread

It automatically installed the latest updates. Then I could no longer send email in Windows Livemail. I system restored to before the update and everything was fine. View this thread

Please help me. I have windows 7 64 bit I have used mse for years...but for the past month or two my mse icon disappears from my notification area. Both husbands and my computers have done this but mine definitely more frequently. Usually, restarting computer brought it back. Recently I could not get it back after 3 restarts...could not find it except to search it out and click on it that way. I want to always KNOW it is working by seeing the green icon working. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling mse 4 days ago. This morning it was missing again...restart brought it back again. Before I totally uninstall it and go to AVG which I do not want to do, can anyone help me with this issue? I am not terribly techie but need help! View this thread

Hi, having (again) resolved the dot NET 4 updates of the latest batch of Windows updates, this one resists all attempts so far. Windows update gives unknown Code 643. (I never understand how they can come up with unique codes, then call them unknown - maybe it's just so they can group them or help people find others who have the same problem and solve it for Microsoft). I've tried repairing and uninstalling MSXML 4, same result. I've tried downloading and manually installing this update, which gives: An error occured during the installation of assembly component {DF935623-B7DF-B3BF-A06B-D6B9ABF34537). HRESULT: 0X8007371B. I have windows 7 pro version and my PC says there are 29 updates to be installed, it goes through its process but every time my PC reboots it says failure to install updates, reverting changes. I am now at 42 updates to be installed so something is not right. any ideas? I have ran the Microsoft fix it program which does not find anything wrong and i have bought pc helper 360 and that doesn't fix it either. Thanks View this thread

I just got all my updates installed but this one continues to error and not install. Says error Windows Update 80070103. Not sure what that means. Help? I try to update the updates KB973688 and KB954430, they keep failing. I don't know why, but I tried to run Fix It, twice, it said it fixed the problem, it did not. The error code is 643. All other updates install, it is just these two updates.I have tried the stand-alone installs, and return an error like this:Error opening installation log file. The microsoft Update Installer continues to detect Security Update Microsoft Office suites (KB2687499) 32-bit Edition as necessary to install on my system and continues to fail. So, I downloaded the update manually but when I run it, I get the message: "Please wait while update detection is being run." and then I get the message "An error occurred while running detection." I have called the Help Center (SRX1193068976ID) and gave them the windows update error 80070663. I get automatic notices when updates are ready to be installed. I always check and choose which to install. At times, there are updates, i.e. Bing and Office 2010, which I do not choose to download. I do not see a way to delete these updates, hide them, or in some other way get rid of them. I've been all over MS Help and, guess what, no help was to be found! Can anyone here help! In reading solutions I found suggestion to run Microsoft Fixit, which I did, and it didn't fixit. Next solution was to run .Net Framework cleanup tool, which I did.. It removed ALL Net Framework versions. Now I can't get any except .Net Framework 4 to install. I haven't a clue on how to proceed. Having unfortunately removed ALL versions of .NET Framework, now I have to put them back. I had 1.1, 2 Service Pack2, 3 Service Pack 2, 3.5 Service Pack 1, and 4. Please advise how to 1. Download these again, 2. If there are different versions of one of these (as there are), how do I tell what I need, 3. Once in my downloads directory, how do I install them. 4. it says virus protection is off, click for recommended action. the recommended action is "turn it on" with no instruction. in the past it has worked to go to the security center and run the virus definition update. this is not working this time. View this thread

what does microsoft expect the low-income and middle class xp users to do when microsoft stops support for XP operating system? What about all of our costly software we have installed for xp but it wont work on newer operating systems? just spent 300.00 for security system to catch neighbors stealing from my parts cars, just to find out that XP is done come Feb 2014 1 year from now, but ALOT of EVERYONE'S XP software wont work on Vista and newer operating systems!
