security essentials is scanning less items on my new pc than it was about 2 months ago. 500,000 compared to 650,000 originally. I ran defender offline and it scanned over 700,000 items. Any explanation regarding this please. thank you. View this thread

my PC is set to automatically update, but i found i still had to update windows defender manually, even after troubleshooting and app: having the problem fixed ? yet even after the update and doing a full scan, the boarder is still yellow and stating that my PC's Status is still potentially unprotected ?? I requested a Key for Media Center, Windows 8 for a second computer. The emailed Key was the same a previous computer. I installed the Media Center without any problems, but now I have an activation message and it will not accept the key. What do I do to correct this? View this thread

Hi, I'm trying to uninstall and reinstall window defender, the only thing active in the ribbon section is Home and Help buttons; however, the status dialog box states this: Last Scan: 5/20/2012 @ 6:30am (quick scan) Scan Schedule: daily around 2am (quick scan) Real-Time Protection: OFF Antispyware Version 1.129.1344.0 created on 7/09/2012 @ 7:08pm ...this morning, I tried to download a newer version onto my computer, and it indicated that I had one install already......I have search online for help in uninstalling and reinstalling the "Window Defender " Can you give me any suggestions that would help me to resolve this issue, please. I have the following server... Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Standard FE (version 6.0.6002 sp2 build 6002) On attempting to search for updates in Windows Update I instantly receive an error... Windows could not search for new updates An error occurred while checking for new updates for your computer Errors found: 8024401F I have tried disabling AVG Antivirus, disabling Windows Firewall, deleting unfinished updates restarting services and trying again, restarting the server, installing the following update: Windows6.0-KB947821-v25-x64, and a number of other things recommended on forums. The last update installed automatically by Windows Update was on 9/2/12, KB2631813 Is there anything else I can try to fix this? or even another tool I can use to update my server? When I attempt Windows update I received a message that the updates could not download/install. Also receive an error code: 80080005. Windows 7 updates continue to install automatically after I have changed Important updates settings to "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them". Under "Recommended Updates" I have checked off "give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates are received. I have disabled the Microsoft product updates function in that Updates window as well, the 4th option on that page. Everything was working fine until January 8th, and nothing has changed on my system. Somehow they are getting through. Thanks! View this thread

During Download using Windows Update I get this Error Code 80073712. I've tried the Windows Update Troubleshooting program. Turned off firewall. Turned off anti-virus programs. I've downloaded it from Windows.com support successfully to my Downloads Folder, but when I try the standalone installer, it goes through and at the end "Fails". Does not install. I had no issues with any other updates. This is the first time I've ran into such an issue. I feel like I've tried everything(I'm not a super computer techy) I can. Please help! View this thread

This is a very strange issue and I support any support. Specs: Graphics - AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series Windows 7 64 bit After a while I noticed that every so often when I would wake up my monitor would be off even when my computer was running. This was not normal. I would try all the basics to wake the monitor back up (turning off the monitor and turning it back on would traditionally return functionality 99% of the time if I ever had an issue with signal before). Eventually I was able to isolate the issue to be directly related to windows update reboots. After I disabled automatic updates it never happened again. It happens every time I manually apply an update and click to reboot. No other type of reboot causes this issue. To restore the monitor function I have to do a hard reboot. What in the world happens during a Microsoft update reboot that would cause the graphics card to stop sending a signal? This is very strange. I appreciate any and all support with this issue. The following problem occurs on two new laptops, both running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. Both of these laptops have been kept current on Windows Updates with no problems, other than the occasional update failure, which had no adverse impact on reboot. However, the latest group of Windows Updates stalls after reboot with the message box: "Preparing to Configure Windows. Do not turn off your computer" Hours later, it is still stalled. I cannot see the desktop. If I shut down and reboot into Safe Mode, then I can get to the desktop, but rebooting into normal Windows results in this error message again. im a new windows 8 user and I got a critical update today, but when I try to click on my documents , videos, pictures, and music all it says is documents.library-ms is not working, this program can be safley deleted from your computer. Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32bit Not updating, error code 80070005. Have tried just about everything without success. AV is Microsoft Security Essentials, had Norton preloaded, ran Norton total clean. Do not know last time updates run, I re-loaded (right term?) updates which cleaned out log. Have Malwarebytes free version, run consistently, nothing comes up. View this thread
