Every 15 minutes or so the 'your favorite sites' gets wiped clean and one is left called 'rotator wiget' which then puts up a **** webpage to sexitnow. I cannot get rid of it. Microsoft security does not find it. View this thread

I downloaded windows 8 upgrade for Windows 7 yesterday. first I couldn't access some of the menu like control panel and I couldn't search under the right side options. so after reading other posts about same issue I "refreshed" windows so it would keep all my files etc just refresh software..... well when it reloaded I noticed almost all of my programs were missing and all of my music was gone and it said my music folder was no longer there and could be safely removed. when I open my music from the xbox program it is all listed but when I click to play a song I get an error message. I have no idea what to do from here.... and my last saved restore point is gone so I cant undo these changes. Also on desktop there is now an icon named removed apps??? View this thread

I see that other people have had the same (potential) problem I am having with not being able to download updates. People have graciously suggested solutions - none of which have worked for me or others. (I haven't made any intentional changes to my system since the last successful update.) Microsoft Fixit says that the "Default Windows Update data locations have changed" and it has not run the fix. So, simply - Where is the default Windows Update data location? Last batch of updates contained new DESKBAR search/indexing...which KB entry did this and how do I get rid of it.... do not need more than one search window at a time...used to old method of searching. Of course, if they actually explained what each update does IN ENGLIISH ( not everyone speaks geek ) , one might be able to discern which updates one really wants. View this thread

Keep getting a pop-up from my Norton Internet security stating that MTool is unsafe and it has been removed. However, the pop-up still keeps reappearing. It appears to be a virus of some sort but the Microsoft Safety Scanner did not detect it and I can't locate it on my system. Windows Defender doesn't detect it either. If anyone can help PLEASE... windows 7 64 bit hp...short dicription.. have this problem for over year.. have tryed just abou every anti spyware virus company. to no avail... Does not show up on there scan or false positive.. Have been blocked from tweaking .com bleeping computers forums..I no little about computers but no much about this one no one will listw en.. Anyway I have copies of spybot logs showing files setting or chanding authority on the main computr in my network that I dont have.. Have a 8 mg thumb drive full of copies of files that I found minutes after a complete new installl.. I used boot and nuke orogram to wipe before install 8 passes 17 hours dod.. If anyone can help or know where I can look I would apprecite...... I have created short cut for Norton Management in my desk top.I have also the latest version of Norton product.Very frequently the Icon when clicked is not managing the live update nor does quick scan when commanded.I have been asked to use power eraser and even after complying with this mode, the norton management icon does not function.Is it a system mistake of my laptop or a faulty management of Norton administration.? Windows update shows this driver listed as important and has tried to install several times but fails with error 800700ff. It is for my HP 1536 LaserJet.......I installed the latest drivers when I installed the printer two weeks ago and it works fine. Since installing ms security update kb2753842 on dec 28,2012, windows 7 prompts me from boot manager, do i want to start up from windows 7? Also i have to always turn on my internet each time. Before the update, everything would load itself and work fine. I did a ms security essential sweep, which is the only anti-virus program i have and found nothing. So I ask around, and found many similar problems, but the the exact same problem. So i did a system restore prior to the ms update. And everythng worked fine. However, ms auto updated again once i shut down, so the problem came back. I tried calling ms for assist since this update has cause major problems everywhere. And they want to charge me $99 since my OS is out of warranty. So my only solution was to do a system restore again, and to stop ms auto update. But I'm concern, that this update maybe important. I am finding it almost impossible to rely on the laptop having installed windows 8 pro and office 2013. It hangs repeatedly and occasionally get Blue screen with dpc_watchdog_violation and resets with notification to send error report to Microsoft. I have a Dell computer that has been relatively trouble free until lately. Just prior to Christmas I started experiencing multiple crashes per day, the majority with the message "Page Fault in Non Paged Area." I have looked at both the .dmp and the checksur.log file which contained the errors below. I am not able to check for system updates through Windows updates. I receive the following message: "Windows could not search for new updates." with code 80070246. I have run both Microsoft Fix-It and the Update Readiness tool. Both indicate that they are resolving problems. The SUR tool even indicated that it was addressing a problem associated with the code 80070246. Even after both of these activities, I still can't run windows updates. A Additionally, I cannot run SFC /scannnow as I receive "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." Finally, I stopped automatic updates, deleted the distribution file, and restarted automatic updates. All this did was delete the history. Did not affect the problem. I have been able to find numerous threads on these issues and have done my best to sort through all of them. Everything is in the title... Windows update seems to download the update without any problem, then starts the update, but then fails, repeatedly. windows "fix-it" tool claimed it resolved the problem, but the situation is unchanged, install stull fails. Can you help? Thanks View this thread

I cannot install these updates (all related .NET). I ALREADY installed .NET (sing the tool) and reinstalled it. Some updates could then be installed but not those ones. What do I do ? Any help would be appreciated. View this thread
