After some windows updates yesterday, my computer started to slow down and hang. I checked the task manager and I found out that my 4 CPUs are at 100% usage which is very unusual and chrome.exe is making using of 96% of my CPUs. What do I do?? View this thread

I did a download from Cnet and along with it came a bunch of adware wanting to scan my pc, and also changed my internet explorer homepage from bing to http://search.conduit.com/?SearchSource=10&CUI=UN29481246411865222&UM=2&ctid=CT3287822 I just installed Security Essentials two days ago after using AVG free for many years. This is the second time this has happened from Cnet. Anyway I have tried to remove this in control panel, the browser internet options I have disabled the addons that are associated with it. Disabled the services, gone into my computer and deleted the program files. When I turn on my computer this morning a warning tells me that windows genuine advantage has been changed. and security essentials said i needed to run a validation check. What do I do? I recently did a full system restore through Dell Back up all the way to the factory settings I restart my computer and download avast free and maleware bytes free version and run the scans. They say nothing is to be found yet the pop up from avast keeps showing up all with a base of \.globalrootsystemrootsvchost.exe. Can anyone help please View this thread

Hi, My computer is a Dell XPS 420 running windows home Premium with service pack 2 and i am having a few issues with it. 1. Im getting windows updating issue saying: Updates were not configured correctly. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer. This happens when it trys to download : Update for Windows Driver Framework version 1.11 for Windows Vista (KB2761494) and Update for Windows Vista (KB2748349). 2. I run McAfee and i have downloaded AVG and Malwarebytes to confirm i have no viruses. I have tryed alot of the things people have recommended on forums to other people with similar issues but nothing works. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader but it changed nothing. Computer now seems to go slower or pages seem to freeze and not respond. I feel like all of the issues are linked in some kind of way. Maybe updating way? Windows keeps on trying to auto install Net Framework 3.5 service pack 1 for Framework assistant every Time try to turn the computer off also it is set to do an auto install but it keeps on failing to install. the error code is (0x80070663). This started happing on March 1st 2013. Before this date I was able to get all my updates. The last update I got was on feb 28th 2013. It was Net framework 3.5 service Pack 1 and net Framework 3.5 Family update for .Net versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847)x86. All other auto update prior to March coame in with no problems. Before this problem, Windows was behaving oddly in various ways, so I restarted the PC, which seemed to fix things. The Windows Update window still showed 5 important and 2 optional updates to be done (as it had before the restart). I ran the Microsoft Security Essentials update through that program, not the Windows Update. After that, the 5 important updates and the other optional update had disappeared. Windows Update said it was "up to date...there are no updates available for your computer." When I checked the update history, it only showed the MSE update as done today (and it had had no time to run the others anyway). Closing the Windows Update window and rerunning it gets the same lack of reults. They do not show up as hidden updates either. The 5 important updates that disappeared were: Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2393802)Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2676562)Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2799494)Update for Windows Vista (KB2679255)Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista The optional one was: Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista, a different one it said was published 5/31/2011. I have had 1 update do a similar disappearing act previously, so today I did "copy details" for all of today's updates before updating MSE, which is how I know what disappeared. But how do I get them back on the Windows Update window so that I can do these 6 updates? And how do I prevent this problem in future? Thank you for any help you can give me. View this thread

Windows 8 ran updates when I restarted my computer. it took forever, then when I logged in, my start screen only had 3 boxes all other links and apps were gone also it seemed that all files on my desktop and in my Documents were missing. I eventually figured out that I was logged on as a new user under Users/TEMP. I can use file explorer to navigate to my own user profile and then the my Documents files but don't seem to be able to log under my own user profile anymore, what happened and how can this be fixed? Hello, I have been getting a message that Windows is installing update 1 of 1 each time I shut down my computer. I decided to try and manually install updates to my Windows 7 (64-bit) PC and have been repeatedly getting a failure message. The error codes I get are 80073712 and 9C57. The failed installs are Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (error 9C57) and Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2809289) (error 80073712). I have tried the Windows update troubleshooter as well as the Microsoft install troubleshooter. I tried to download a hotfix (KB947821) that was supposed to help with these issues, but it will not install either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my parents computer and they have no idea what to do. I am fairly computer savy, so I am willing ti try most anything to get this issue solved. Thanks! View this thread
