IE10 browsing is really slow for me now and sometimes just doesn't connect. I think I need to get the latest windows updates but I continue getting an error message. I can't install update for windows defender, I have waited for about 3 minutes and I got an error like this "error code:0x80240022 error description: Windows Defender couldn't download the definitions update. Sorry Microsoft, I've viewed the Windows 8 leaked update 'Blue'... Why are you spending money doing this incredibly poor update? (as well as your useless advertising for Windows 8)? The Blue update is completely worthless as long as you maintain METRO as the front end of Windows. Why is there no-one at Microsoft realising this fact? Windows 8 is an UTTER failure. (way worse than VISTA) Your tablets are sub-standard. (Both RT and PRO) and failing to sell at any appreciable rate. (The public perception of Microsoft is at an all time low after the launch of Windows 8 and the sacking of Sinofsky. I agreed with you that the idiot had to go, but it was an admission that you'd mucked it all up. (And that has been proven to be the case.) The Windows store apps are unbelievably poor. The BBC (for goodness sake) asking to remove the ONLY app that gets their information (Because even the BBC sees Windows 8 as a failure (not worth developing for) and below their standards!) Why isn't there someone at Microsoft with enough balls to admit that Windows 8 is a complete and utter disaster? You spend millions on dreadful advertising, promoting Windows 8, developing ridiculous extensions to a pathetic, front end. I have been getting error code 80070002 in Windows Update since November 2012. Windows 7 64bit SP1. MSE antivirus up to date. I have done ALL of the suggested fixes multiple times. Cleaned the windowsSoftwareDistribution... files. Run the downloaded FixIt tools, etc. Fix IT Tool says update databases are corrupted and then fixes them. Says they are fixed. Windows Update still won't run.I have access to tools such as DaRT if there is anything useful that can be done with that.Unless someone has any other suggestions, it's time for a complete re-image. Hello Sir, My computer has Service Pack 2 already. So as per your instructions, I tried to download Service Pack 3. It seems it is down loading but it says it takes 6 hrs. Is it true or I have understood it wrongly. Besides, the computer is very slow and printing your e mail on how toupdate Service pack 3 is very very dead slow. Hello- I believe I have had this problem before, or at least something about an invalid Windows on my laptop. I resolved it once, and now it seems to be back for some odd reason. I have had this laptop (Dell XPS 15") for over a year now, and have no had problems, until two minutes ago when I was cleaning out some programs and then restarted my laptop to also install some updates from Windows. I can only assume I either deleted something important, or an update messed with my laptop in some way, considering it has not happened since the first time, and I know very well that this copy of windows is absolutely valid (it obviously came with my laptop from Dell, I have not installed any new versions of windows or upgraded since purchasing this laptop) Can anyone help? Receiving 8024402F error in Windows Server 2012. Have narrowed down the error showing up to only when I have "Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows." I have Office 2003 SP3 installed which works fine but might be the cause of the issue. Not sure why it would cause this problem though. View this thread

Every time I try and install Windows Updates, the updates download and then install. When the system then goes through the process of restarting it reaches 15% and then shuts down and restarts. When it reaches 15% again it sticks at that point and then says the istall has failed and the reverts the system to what it was prior to the update.I have not been able to update my system for many months and frankly am fed up with this problem.I ahve tried the various fixes such as Mr Fix and all to no avail. I wonder if I could see what files might have been removed, as it seems the performance of my laptop has dramatically improved recently since I deleted quarantined items. I didn't make a note of what I was removing and thought it would have been a good idea to have been aware of what may have caused the problem. View this thread

Hi,I installed Windows 8 Enterprise 64 bit as To-Go-Version on a 32 GByte-USB-3.0-Stick.All seems to work fine, but Windows Update fails with error code 80070005.Several forum entries say, the USB Stick with Windows on it has to be set as fixed disk instead of removable, but I don't know how to do this, I only found solutions for 32 bit-Systems.
