Well at first I resumed my computer (as it was sleeping) and I went on steam. I bought a new game and was doing some stuff then I got BSoD. then I rebooted and got it again and again and again and again. So I started troubleshooting and I tried updating my driver but it said I was unable to do it for whatever reason so I tried installing the latest windows updates that I just tossed aside as I thought they were useless (they were). Then I came across this page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978982/en-us this seemed like it would fix my problem but when I tried to install it it said error 0x800706be blah blah blah (other error like stuffs) then I thought I found the fix for this and then that wouldnt install so I found the fix for that and then it went like that till I ended up at a page about mp3 playlists or something. So does anyone know what I might be able to do because I can't use my computer at the moment as it keeps BSoDing? View this thread

I have unidentified "commercials" invading my life if I have any webpage/browser open....It is VERY irritating...I can open the mixer and mute them but they appear as "name not available" and they repeat the same bits again and again....HELP! Virus?? View this thread

Hi, I have Windows Server 2008/Vista machine having .Net Framework 2.0 and 3.5 SP1 installed on it. On manual installation of below two updates MBSA still shows the machine as vulnerable Windows6.0-KB2742601-x64.msu Windows6.0-KB2756919-x64.msu KB2756919 is showing as vulnerable in MBSA. On installing it again through commandline wusa.exe Windows6.0-KB2756919-x64.msu /quiet /norestart the update fails with exit code Please note there is no problem related to antivirus. I have an Acer laptop and I am having trouble getting my Windows Update to check for updates. It keeps telling me that it can't check for updates because the service is not running please restart your computer. I have restarted it numerous times and it still isn't working. everytime i check to see if i need to run my updates for microsoft it ends up failing and not installing. i will do a troubleshoot and it tells me that --- a) REPAIR WINDOWS UPDATE DATABASE...error detected 0x80073712 b) WINDOWS UPDATE COMPONANTS MUST BE REPAIRED c) DEFAULT WINDOWS UPDATE DATA LOCATION HAVE CHANGED................ With that being said i did run a command promt (Admin) and wouldnt take. but this is what i ran: DISM.exe/ Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth (then hit enter...... and nothing happened for me to put this up afterwards) DISM.exe/ Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth .................................... what do i need to do? My computer is stuck at installing 9 of 9 updates. Screen says ," keep your pc plugged in till this is done" . I searched this problem on this forum and some of the solutions asked to install recovery media ( or something like that). What do i do. The computer is not responsive to any input. Was out of town...returned to find my Outlook 2010 completely unconfigured. Had to reconfigure email account as though new user. Fortunately, previous Outlook file was available for reload. Also found Skype, completely unconfigured. My family pleads innocent. Only (likely) culprit, single automated update: KB2807986, installed 3/26, (yesterday from this post). So far, haven't found anything else out of order...and was able to reconfigure Outlook and Skype. Very curious. Win7/SP1 View this thread

I need a way to solve a problem with windows 7 update. I able to download and install updates. However, after installing the update, during configuration of the update on restart, the system hangs at 15% of the configuration. I have left the system on for over 5 hours on an occasion to see if that point could be crossed and still it hung there. On two occasions, I've gone to the support and was asked to download some file and run. This I did but it still did not solve the problem. What should I do to continue updating windows? After having problems with my computer on startup, I finally decided to try using my Windows XP CD to repair my system files; however, the CD seemed to partically reinstall some older files. Examples: the browser I was using was Internet Explorer 8, I was using Windows XP Service Pack 2. After using the Windows XP disk to try an recover the system files and stablize my system, my computer was reverted to IE 6 and Windows XP Service Pack 2 was missing altogether. As, I had ordered this Windows Sp2 disk from Microsoft, (at their urgering), on a CD some years ago, I reinstalled it from my original disk. Upon attempting to solve the problem with my computer monitor constantly going into engery saving mode as the system was booting up, it seems that I inadvertently deleted or otherwise destroyed files Windows Update needs to verify the authenticity of my computer software! I am using windows 7 Home Premium service pack 1. I been recently experiencing this scan issue with my new laptop. during full scan or quick scan this error 0x8050800d appears with the message below. Why WS essential scan gives error 0x8050800d before completing scan. Message appears, SE couldn't scan your PC some history items couldn't be displayed. Clear the history and try again. I just installed Windows XP SP3 and updated up to the current version, and got all the optional updates as well. The last update I installed was a set of optional updates. It was working fine before the updates, but now its stuck in 4 bit color, and 640x480. I can change the sliders, but it refuses to change the settings. I can actually move the resolution slider all the way up to 65,000 pixels, but it never actually changes the resolution. This is now the second computer this has happened to. Why does this happen, and what do I need to do to fix it? View this thread

I keep having very, very long scan times for a "full scan", usually well over 24 hours. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times but keep having the same very long scan times.
