I unistalled the NVIDIA updates for 3.22.13 that were done on that day. I did this yesterday, March 27, 2013. Then my computer display was eschewed. So, I set a RESTORE point, yesterday, to 3.22.13. This is the message I got: PROGRAMS MAY BE DELETED: NVIDIA (Display) 01/18/2013 9.18.13. 1106 Driver Windows Explorer 10 (Kb2718695) Microsoft Windows English Spelling Package (KB2764916) Microsoft English Hyphenation Package (KB27... This entire number does not show THOSE PROGRAMS AND DRIVERS THAT MAY BE RESTORED: NVIDIA 3D Vision Controller Driver 296.10 296.10 Program NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver 306.97 306.97 Program NVIDIA Graphics Driver 306.97 306.97 Program NVIDIA Update 1.10.8 1.10.8 Program NVIDIA (USB 2//29/2012 6.14.129610 Driver Security Updates for Package: KB2675157 KB2699988 KB2719177 KB2722913 KB2744842 KB2761451 KB2761465 KB2792100 KB2797052 KB2809289 Also ADOBE FLASH Player 11 Active X 11.6.602.71 is missing which I was prompted I might lose So, I RESTORED the system to 3/22/13 9:55:00 AM and I got a dialog box saying this date and that my documents have not been affected. The only NVIDIA that didn't reinstall as far as I can tell is NVIDIA (USB 2/29/2012 6.14.129610 Driver and all the Security Updates for package Windows Updates. So, do I wait to see if these are all on a future Windows Update? Please advise. Also not good with technical explanations. Please be rote. Regards, View this thread

My other Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) computer has only 512 MB of RAM and Windows Update always fails to check for updates with error 8007000E. That machine has Microsoft Security Essentials Prerelease and it never installs new definitions because of a "network or connectivity problem". Every single Microsoft security application should update without Windows Update. There are infections that can corrupt/disable Windows Update. View this thread

Hi I am getting the above error when using Windows Update and am also unable to install updates for other software like Adobe Reader, Flash or Java. I have tried the Fix It tool, and the System Update Readiness Tool, to no effect. I suspect it may be to do with a virus as there was one on the computer a while ago but the problem actually started when I uninstalled some bits of free trial software that the computer came with, possibly including an antivirus trial. I suspect the answer may be similar to here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-windows_update/error-code-8007370b-and-8007371c/a80cc923-1fd5-47f5-a79d-bcc7cc17f684 and a system format is required, however that is a different version of Windows, so am unsure if this information still applies. Many thanks for reading View this thread

This is directed to the kind person who sent me a series of questions regarding my install loop problem. 1a. Purchased early part of 2010. 1b. Windows 7 came preinstalled (Dell computer without backup disks). 2. I installed Avast (free version) in mid-2012. 3, 4a, 4b. McAffee free trial came preinstalled. I had a current license for Norton, however, and installed that without uninstalling the McAffee free trial. I successfully uninstalled (according to Windows) the Norton when the subscription expired in 2012 and installed the Avast. Not sure exactly when I uninstalled the McAffee free trial, but it is no longer in my programs. 5. All listed updates have been installed except KB2809289. 6. I uninstalled Java when I read of the security issues and have not installed Java 7......is it safe? 7. Yes 8. Yes I have Chrome installed and mostly use that rather than IE (it seems faster and more intuitive to me, just my opinion) I am not in the habit of using registry cleaners. I did, once use PCDoctor or some similar program, but when it wanted to change my registry I refused........wasn't familiar with the product and didn't know if it was safe. Hope you can help me with my loop problem which is still ongoing. View this thread

An automatic update was installed onto my Windows 8 system this morning. Now when I try to sign in none of the controls are functional. I can't get past the sign in page. I've tried repairing from install disk and I've tried a restore, but neither worked. I'm trying to avoid wiping and reinstalling. Any suggestions. An update should not be this invasive. We are deploying the Surface Pro across our organization. During the pilot we noticed that some of our software requires .Net3.5 to function. Each time the system tries to install .Net3.5 via the internet (windows update) we receive error code 0x800F0906. Our research has revealed a work around using cmd prompt and DISM /Online /Enable-Features /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:d:sourcessxs Our issue is that we did not volume purchase the tablets for the pilot and have no Windows 8 installation disc. Our testing has gone very well but the President is using one and if we cannot resolve the issue it could derail the entire project. View this thread

These two apps although they start, will NOT show any videos (I didn't try the music), they just spin dots and say starting.Today there was 2 updates, one for each in the store. I did the update but they failed with the subject error. Many people seem to get this error in many versions of Windows. Scoured all the ones I saw that were recent. One I saw sort of indicated that I had a virus, and that MSERT.EXE should be run. It ran OK?Another suggested deleting the package folder under USERSuseridAPPDATALOCALPACKAGES, but that didn't help?Another 'suggests' permissions are wrong, but I can't find specifically what it should be?I've had problems with other apps as well in the past. After install (Upgrade of system from W7) all apps were working. I now also have a problem with USA Today that doesn't connect. Others too... but I've deleted them, such as Weather but I'm using the WeatherBug as a replacement. One thing I did find, at one point I had to do a REFRESH as a test, and everything appeared to work after that. However, I just did a random check. After that I restored my SAVED image of the C: drive. At that point they did NOT work?Figuring this had to be an access/permissions problem I started looking at that. I had TAKEN OWNERSHIP for my UserID that is part of the Administrator's group. Possibly that was a problem, I think as the old permissions were for NT SERVICETrustedInstaller so I changed drive ownership to that. It didn't change anything, even after a re-boot, so I took ownership again.I've got another W8 computer here that DOES work? I've been comparing stuff between the two, but really can't see differences, so I'm probably looking in the wrong places?I've tried the MS Fix app and troubleshooter, nothing helps.I am running an ATI HD4000 series video card with the ATI 13.1 drivers. 12.8 are the initial ATI drivers and I have seen some indication that the 13.1 drivers are problematic for videos on the Start Screen, but the answer was to revert back to the 12.8 drivers but that also didn't help?Any suggestions? How can I reset ALL the permissions if that is the problem? View this thread

Microsoft security essentials is turned off about half of the time when I boot up my computer. I thought it was due to the scheduled scans, which I usually do manually since I shut my computer off when I'm not using it. When I went to make changes to the scan schedule and click on save I get this error message and the changes do not take effect. View this thread

So i've seen this question a lot, and tried multiple solutions, but none of them works. My problem is that Windows Update keep installing the same 2 updates successfully. The name of them is: (Danish name for updates) Sikkerhedsopdatering til Microsoft .NET Framework 4 på Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 og Windows Server 2008 R2 til x64-baserede systemer (KB2656351) Opdatering til Microsoft .NET Framework 4 på Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 og Windows Server 2008 R2 til x64-baserede systemer (KB2600217) This is what i tried: Followed the guide here, an ran Fix it etc: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910339 Tried install them manually from Microsoft site Followed this tut: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/186275-windows-update-fix-repeatedly-offered-update.html Help would be greatly appreciated! :) View this thread

Hi If there's one single factor about Windows 8 I absolutely dread, it is the automated update facility! Why does Windows persistently try to install updates for Office 2010 32 bit version when I am - was - running the 64 bit version? Conversely, now I also have Office 365 loaded, it won't upgrade that at all. Furthermore, Office 365 has reverted to the 32 bit version - since I don't believe I was given the option on download. And why - when it is failing to install the upgrade, does it persist in trying?!?! If I leave the close down screen alone as instructed, it can sit there for hours (literally 24 hours on a broadband connection!) before I eventually have to give up and turn the machine off. I truly truly love Microsoft and all it has achieved, but I can waste hours and days on stupid trivial little things like this! Can anyone please help me to stop this happening? Thank you Janet View this thread

Ran a detailed scan and got this message. FOUND "(Trogan:HTML/BlacoleRef.A)- partially removed, manual steps required". What do I do to manually remove the rest? View this thread
