I am getting the following error after 3/19 Windows update took place "api-ms.win downlevel-Ole32-l1-1.O.dll" after reading extensively online it appears it was suggested to remove IE10 and or a specific patch (don't remember the exact path number), as I try uninstalling it, it gives me an error stating it cannot be uninstalled. I have tried restoring the PC back to a past date and that is also not occuring. Please help as this is impacting the abilitiy to do anything on the system as I cannot download anything nor open IE. I can only browse through Chrome. HELP!!!! View this thread

After each Security update for 64 based systems is installed on my PC, I get red errors in Windows 8 Action Center to fix. It shows that both the Norton and Windows firewall as well as the Norton spyware service are shut off. When I try to activate them, they will not turn back on . The troubleshooting step under Maintenance in the Action Center does not fix this problem either In every case I have had to reload Norton to clear it. View this thread

Since applying Windows 7 Update KB2807986 may Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional has AppCrash even when just editing. It also occurs when I try to save sometimes. OS is Windows 7 64x. I have reinstalled the software and even installed a later version. Does anyone have a fix for this problem? Thank you. View this thread

My computer is set up to download and install automatic updates. Yesterday it froze on installing the new service pack (it froze on 17 of 82). I restarted my computer and it then went through the download and installation process. Upon rebooting I could get to the log on screen in Windows, but before I could even enter my password the screen went black and then flashed to the log in screen again, then went blue. It cycled through the three of these repeatedly. I couldn't even get CTRL ALT DEL to work and my power button wouldn't work either. I had to unplug and remove my battery. I was able to hit F12 on the reboot and run diagnostics, everything checked out fine. I then started it in safe mode and ran Malwarebytes and Symantics and everything came back clean. I tried to uninstall the service pack update, but It just froze my system and wouldn't uninstall it. Please help! I don't know what else to do or where else to look. View this thread

I recently downloaded some update files from Microsoft for Microsoft Security and Silverlight. I have now started getting this message when I boot up my computer that says "The server wpad.home at dsl router requires a username and password" It also has a warning that this information is being asked over a nonsecure server. I hit cancel and the window goes away and everything works, but I am worried that I picked up a virus and I don't want to put my router's password into that screen. Is it truly a Microsoft thing, or do I have some type of virus? I have run all my virus software and it has found nothing, but I am still concerned. Is there anyway to get rid of it? I had no double hh and double gg problem before updating with Windows 8. Also when backspace to delete one the hh or gg the backspace does not work to delete, unless I jump over the first hh or gg and delete the one on the left side. It happens on my Gmail and in Office 2010 and on blog sites. Hello, I am also experiencing the loss of aero and issues in games (ex. green highlights in BF3) likely related to critical update KB2670838. I have attempted to uninstall the update using control panel (without IE 10 installed), but receive an error. System restore is also not an option. Is there more I can do to remove the update? After I dropped my dell inspiron 1545 laptop I had the hard drive replaced and the tech re-installed Windows 7 from his copy of the software, since my software had been destroyed in a house fire. Now I keep getting a prompt that says that my copy of window is counterfeit. When I went of the internet to attempt to resolve the problem I found out that I apparently need a product key number. The tech who replaced my hard drive said hat I should look at the tag on the bottom of my computer for the product key number. Microsoft help says that this is a 25 character number. I see several numbers on the tag under my computer, including the model and reference numbers and the express service code number, but none of these numbers have 25 characters. I'm lost. Where do I go from here? Am I just s.o.l. because I had to have my hard drive replaced? View this thread

For the past two weeks, every time my computer performs a Windows update, I have be unable to connect to my ISP. What I have done is go in and perform a "system restore". Once performed, my computer is able to connect to the internet. However, when the update is performed again, I am at the very same status, can't connect to the internet. Please help or assist in this matter. My ISP has gone as far as they can with this. What can be suggested? This seems like it will be a continous issue. View this thread

My windows 7, bit 32 is not updating some files. same time, it cann't run any internet explorer, such IE, google chrome, firefox, etc. After some time these explores get stucked and cann't be scrolled even up or down. I discovered this problem when I attempted to download Office 2007 and it failed. I have tried using multiple programs and scanned for viruses (tried and removed McAfee, Advanced Systemcare, CC Cleaner and Malwarebytes)-all came back clean (currently only using Windows Defender), hid Microsoft services and disabled third party services, attempted to download manually, one at a time, ran DISM Scanhealth/restorehealth, SFC/Scannow and chkdsk which all came back fine. I have used the Windows update troubleshooter and it fixed two problems, but updates still fail, I have also attempted a system refresh and system reset, but they both fail. System restore was not set up to an earlier point so I was unable to use that. I have also checked my drivers and they are showing up to date. I have a few updates that I have been able to get, but most fail (just about every update that has come out since the beginning of February). I have an ASUS Q200E, but it shows up as an X202E on the system info (same computer, different processer) and windows 8 was preinstalled. I have checked the windows update logs and have the following errors: 0x800703f1 and 0x80070422. I am also showing a system log error-Schannel fatal alert code 51 that showed up about the same time the problem started. Internet works fine and I can access all other programs with no issues. My firewall can't been turned back. when i press use the recomended setings an error message popps up (0x80070422). I'we runned the Microsoft security scanner. The scanner found an infected file but it coudent been removed by it. I ran a full system checkupp with norton but it coudent found it!!!
