My computer is at risk because my McAfee real-time scanning isn't working. It can't be turned on. I called McAfee, and they can't fix the problem because they say there is a problem with Windows Update, which must be fixed first. I use Symantec Ghost to image lab PC's at a school. The first step in this process is to set up a PC using a generic domain user account. Once all the apps are installed & configured the profile for this user is copied to the Default user so that all new users get the same setup. Once the image is deployed to multiple PC's I've found that the user account information shown at the upper right of the Office 2013 apps still shows the generic user account used to create the image even though a different user is logged on to the PC. I'd rather show the current user or, if possible, no user account information at all. I don't want the students to even know about the generic user account that I use to create the image and this situation essentially throws it in their face each time they open one of the Office 2013 apps. How can I force the Office 2013 apps to display the current user or hide this information altogether? I've tried deleting the registry entries related to Office identities but if I log off and log back on as a different user the original identity is still displayed. Thanks... View this thread

My acer 5755G has all of a sudden begun showing me a 'box'(when I start-up) that says that this acer has 'known compatibility problems'. It then asks me to 'check online for a solution'...when I click on this, it brings up a list of other acer models with instructions for me to download the solution...BUT this model is not on the list. I had opened and hide administration account in my windows 7 using this command "net user administrator /active:yes/no"....before hiding that accout i granted parential control to my user account....and then Being in admin account i hide my admin account using before mentioned command.. Whenever you click on the start icon to shut-down your pc, there is an alert icon indicating available updates. I have installed the latest windows 7 updates, same updates, several times. After the shut down & restart, it stills shows the alert icon that indicates that updates need to be installed. How do you get rid of the alert icon? View the thread

My user account page has only 2 accounts, my own and a Guest. Until recently they worked as expected. However this week when Windows 7 Home premium starts I see only my account. If I click change user then I have a choice of 2 Icons, mine and a user. The guest icon is not present. The user icon has no picture and requires a user name and password which I do not know since I did not create it and this user account does not appear on the user account page ( Control Panel) . After upgrading from XP to windows 7, I'm constantly getting msg that my graphics card drivers had to recover, I'm also blank screens and have to manually restart my computer. I've updated my video drivers and it's still happening. Before I upgraded to 7 I ran the windows advisor and it showed that the ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro AGP was compatible. My computer is a Hp pavilion a450e AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ 2.00 GHz 32 Bit OS Service Pack 1. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve this issue? View the thread

I have installed MS Security Essentials on my laptop and have activated the Windows firewall. All other firewall, anti-virus, etc have been removed from the system. Every time that I power on the laptop, I now get an error message that indicates that my Windows Firewall has shut down and that my system is at risk. I can then go in and manually reactivate the firewall, but the next time I shut down and power up the system, the same problem reoccurs. I have run Malwarebytes (in Safemode) and done both a quick and complete scan. I have also run Superantispyware to remove any potential contributing malware. I found a few items which I removed -- but nothing seem to have been the root of the issue nor has their removal corrected the problem. The Windows XP Professional software on the laptop is up to date. I have also verified in MS Services that the Windows firewall is configured to be "on" and "automatic". I can't think of anything else I can do to understand the root of this problem and to correct it. Any suggestions? View this thread

Hi, I have tried to find a proofing tool kit as in Office 2007. I can only find a proofing tool for each language comming in a separate exe. Are there no consolidated pack to use as in 2007 where you from the config file can choose which languages you want to have? And if not, how do you do a silent install of those separate files for each language. The normal switches does not seam to work. Thanks View this thread

I can set up a Network Place and obtain a path to the root without any problem. I can also navigate directly to the http address via my web browser (Chrome). When I navigate to the Network Place in Windows Explorer and try to explore the path I get the error message "The current operation cannot be completed because an unexpected error has occurred" The same process on my XP pro laptop works fine. I think this all depends on WebDAV. Any ideas on how to fix it please? I have already been through Art 287402 without success. The main difference between the two XP machines (apart from Home and Pro) is that the Pro machine still has Office97 Pro installed whereas the Home machine has Office 2010 Pro installed. I have an HP Compaq nx6310 laptop originally supplied with Windows XP. I recently upgraded the OS to W7 and now i can't run my HP 4670 scanner. When I look for driver updates i find there is no driver for this equipment with W7, yet the same model of scanner is still on the market.
