The file is a downloaded demo, Eleusis game, in My Documents folder. Any touch on the folder or any file in it causes the computer to freeze, requiring the use of task manager to escape. Then it still is a minute or so before the pc is usable again. On occasion it has even needed pulling the plug to shut the pc down.I tried to delete My Documents folder but Windows won't allow that.Help please. View this thread

When I now load Word all I get is a dialogue box telling me that the information is on the install disc, but its not. It gives me the propt, " the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM that is not available. Insert the "Microsoft Office 2000 Proffesional Disk and click OK I did and then all I get is "fatal error during installation and it crashes. This has only happened since an automatic update to Vista in early March and now I cant get wWord to work as I think it can't find Documents and Settings which seems to have been removed in the update. What do I do. I have tried reloading Office and it still will not work. Help View this thread

Windows 7 was installed on my system some time ago, then "knowledgeable" teenage granddaughter came along and installed Windows 3. I am having more and more problems now accessing documents. I had converted all documents over to Windows 7, but it appears the system is going through both programs before I reach the document needed. I just read about a "Compatibility" Windows program - could that help me or am I just lost in no man's land now? View the thread

I have a laptop hp pavilion dm4-1253cl Entertainment PC. Everytime my computer starts up it has an error and i have to force it to shutdown because it would wait for hours to a program to close. So im going to reset my computer to when i first got it but have no clue how. I am moving my things to flashdrives now. How do i find out if i have that restore option in my computer or if need the disk? I also read the you need the software for my other devices. Does the software for the fingerprint scanner thats built in to my laptop go with the cd if i need it? Thanks! View the thread

My husband has died and I'm trying to use his PC because it is newer than mine. He had a windows password and I can't figure it out. I can use the pc as a guest but I can't download or change anything in it. I'm not too smart about computers. Is there some easy and inexpensive way to fix it? View the thread

WHS will not boot after the inital instalation. it has formatated and intalled the setup files on the hd but will not restart to finish the instalation. It just wants to boot from CD. if i take out the cd at the boot sequence, i get the "boot disk failure" View this thread

I was able to install Office 2013 Pro Plus x86 (Home Use Program) on my Win 7 x64 system using the CD and the HUP product key. (CTR stopped at 94%, but Word, etc, ran fine after a restart.) I restarted, disabled my Sophos A-V, and tried to install Visio 2013 HUP from the downloaded installer. The install failed, and Office apps could no longer be opened. I tried a Quick Repair (hung on "Working on it") and Online Repair (hung on step 2 of 4). I then ran the Office 2013 uninstaller FixIt and followed the manual uninstall procedures as well (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501/en-us). I restarted and tried to install Office 2013 again from the CD. The install hangs on "Hold on, this should only take a moment", brings up a "We couldn't install Office" dialog, and asks to Retry or Cancel. Retry results in the same screen, Cancel leaves the "Hold on" window up until I kill Office 2013 from task manager. How do I clean up whatever the Visio 2013 installer did so I can install Office 2013 successfully from the CD? View this thread

I recently installed PowerISO and it has taken over my physical DVD drive so I cannot use it. The drive does not show up in Windows Explorer. The drive shows up in hardware settings, but with the note that the driver has been disabled and another driver is providing the functionality. There are issues all over the net on this WRT to PowerISO (wish I had seen these before I loaded it) but no real concrete solutions. I have tried uninstalling the device, reloading drivers and even bought a new DVD drive and installed it but it comes up with the same issue. None of the MS fixes work. I did a complete refresh of BIOS and CMOS to no avail. The drives do not show up in the BIOS settings but do show (with issues) in Hardware settings. I also removed PowerISO, which did nothing. I then re-installed it and changed the Virtual Drive setting to "none" thinking that this was taking over my physical drives. Nothing. So I have uninstalled it again. View the thread

The last two nights windows has tried to apply an auto update to my window Vista ultimate system, the system has been functioning fine but after I shut down the system and the update is downloaded which seems to go fine, when bringing up the system and allowing the update to configure, it never completes, it gets to a point where there is a background image and the cursor is active but noting else is visible or able to be accessed. After waiting for hours, my only option is to cut the power, enter safe more and restore the system to the state prior to the update. What should I do? View this thread

On my b/up drive (E) I have a program called "urexe" from unknown publisher. I have had "exe" problems in the past. Do I need to keep this program or can I delete it and find another "exe" that is directly related to Microsoft this is unknown publisher? ? Thank you in advance for any attempt on this one. Hi all. I have always had problems with my laptop, an ASUS X53E windows 7 home premuim 65, far too many issues to mention but no one has ever been able to identify causes or proper solutions. The most recent issue is when I logged on earlier, some icons were pictured differently on destop and task bar, continuous crashing, mouse jumping around. Event viewer is showing audit success and failure logs for unknown account logons and special logons. 8 of these events with known logons were all logged at the same time and second and I wasn't even using the computer at the time? Whilst its been on the desktop has reverted back to normal. I have done a scan but its not found anything. This is a constant occurrence and I have done numerous restores. Any ideas?
