I used to be able to select certain programs from the desktop "all programs" list and send them to the start menu list,but it no longer works. For example,when I view programs in the desktop "all programs list" and I would hover the cursor over a program(such as XPS viewer) and right click it and the option to transfer to either the "start menu"(or) to the "taskbar-but recently programs will only transfer to the taskbar. I have gone into "control panel"and selected "start menus and taskbars" and customised the "start menu" to accept recently opened programs and that then allows me a scale of how many items to be able to transfer to the "start menu"and I just chose a high figure,such as 20 items,and yet the programs will still refuse to be moved to the "start menu". Have restored to an earlier date, it worked then was updated again and shut off again, next time I restored I put a stop to HP'S auto updated, that lasted about 18 hours, and my computer once again was taken over by HP and it's update. Now it may be something that is good for my computer and my information. But I bought a computer with built in WiFi for a reason. Do I need an upgrade ? My Dell V313w stopped printing/scanning in wireless mode or with a USB direct connection after working flawlessly for 2 years - no changes made on wireless network to our knowledge. Printer works fine in USB mode on old Windows 2000 desktop. Network does see the devive when asked to discover devices. Maybe the printer wireless hardware is not handshaking...? When hovering over programs in the task bar aren't they supposed to have a program specific color? For example when hovering over Firefox it shows orange. I don't see any color behind the programs in the task bar anymore. Why would it be doing this? Is it part of a new update? View the thread

I used a free "delete empty folders" program, which came up with thousands of empty folders (directories..? ... is that the same?) I try to be very careful with deleting things, since I read that even empty folders are sometimes important - unless they replace themselves...? I know empty folders don't use much space, but there are thousands and I like to keep clean house. The program deleted into recycle bin. There I noticed several folders: - Kernel_0_0_cab_17c59e61 (in blue) and - NonCritical_x64_17efdafabf919724d433fb9938979f62e947f_16119877 (in blue) I got scared and wanted to restore these, but can't: file name is too long or path is to long • What can I do? Should I be worried to restore them (and how) or just delete them? I've noticed no performance issues - everything works fine up to now • The program I have now is "Remove Empty Folders" - it differentiates between empty folder that should not be touched and others that can be. I have Outlook 2011 on my iMac and it would not open(flickers and then closes). I try to regularly back up files from my computer to an external hard drive, through windows backup and restore centre. However it has come to my attention that the amount I have saved (GB’s) has doubled in size to the amount I have actually used on my hard drive. I don’t know a lot about how it all works but I see that every time I do a backup of my computer a folder is opened on the external drive labelled with the date it was performed. Each one of these folders is stored in a master (?) folder labelled with the name of my documents folder from my computer. When I hover my pointer arrow over this master folder all it says regarding it's capacity is that the folder is larger than 0 bytes? I have deducted that the folder is occupying at least 200 GB’s of space on the external drive. One of the things I don't understand is why each of the folders that are opened for each back contains 0 bytes when I hover my pointer over them also. I apologise if it’s difficult to understand what I’m trying to say but I don’t know how else to describe it. What I’d like to know is whether it is safe to remove all the backup folders prior to the latest one and hopefully create more space on my external drive, which is a Seagate expansion drive incidentally.
