I have been using Western Digital Passport Essential external hard disk which comes with a password security software. Recently I could not open the main folder after I logged on with my password. When I click on the main folder, the pointer changed to a circle and continue going round and round non-stop for a long time but could not open the main folder in which I store all my files (fotos, documents, pictures etc). I then tried to use WinXP Disk Check to scan and fix bad sectors but could not do it because once right-click on the main folder (which is also the external HD drive) the pointer immediately changed to a circle and continue to going round and round not stop. Please advise whether there is anything in WinXP that can help me open this main folder? If there is none, then I will lose all my data in this hard disk. I have contacted WD tech support but they could not help me to retrieve my data or open this main folder. They said I can send my WD hard disk back to them in exchange for a new one. However, I need to retrieve my data before I send back to them. Otherwise, all my data would be gone. They said that my data is not under their warranty. They told me that I could have my data retrieve by their agent (or client or something) at a fee and they gave me a contact number to call them. I called them but was told that I have to pay between S$800 to S$2,000 to have my data retrieve from this WD corrupted external hard disk. I am not going to pay such costly price for the data to be retrieved. If there is no way I can use my WIN XP or perhaps WIN-7 to retrieve/open this main folder, then can WIN XP format this folder so that all my data are deleted before I sent the WD hard disk to Western Digital Company for a replacement of the hard disk? Please advise. thank you glemel View this thread

In my device manager it says I need a coprocessor driver. I have a M3N78-VM Motherboard running 64 bit windows 7, I have tried the manufacture site and no results. I am not sure what the coprocessor is or does on this motherboard. If anyone can help with an answer I would greatly appreciate it. Bill View the thread

Windows 8, Office 2013 Pro Plus, Office 365 E3 plan Our company email is managed via O365 E3 plan. PC was running W7 Pro w/ Outlook 2010 1) upgraded pc to W8 2) installed O2013 Pro Plus Able to connect to mail via W8 mail app Created account using Outlook 2013 successfully. However when I try to launch Outlook I get a Windows Security pop-up box that says "Connecting to..." with a Just a moment status bar. It just sits there. I've been able to also add my personal Outlook.com account and if it is the only account in my Outlook Profile it launches correctly and works. But if I try to launch a profile with my O365 Exchange account OR try to launch a different profile even if it doesn't have my O365 Exchange account I get the same pop-up. ------------------------- Chris Ross | @cmross View this thread

I just purchased this program and downloaded it yesterday. Nearly every time I click or transfer between word and another program (I'm a teacher and I'm trying to write my lesson plans) it starts not responding. I'm generally knowledgeable about computers, but Office 2013 and Windows 8 are both pretty new to me. Prior to purchasing the student edition, I used the trial that came with the computer and it worked perfectly. View this thread

Hello everybody, I was very much surprised when my newer HP "P"series desktop w/W7 premium/64 bits had to go in for a checkup due to booting up problems, & they discovered & removed 19 infections! I have W7 SP1 Essentials, auto update & use common sense when surfing, which evidently isn't enough. I hate being enslaved to a annual fee for the usual anti-malware software, such as Norton or Kaspersky. I have read that Essentials does not play well with others, however I do need something extra (preferably free!) "Malawarebytes" has always proven to be useful in the past. Would it clash w/Essentials? If so, is there anything else out there that would give me a little thicker defense? Thanks kindly, ovenmaker View the thread

Ho windows 7. Grazie View the thread

XP Pro 32 with SP3Windows Security Center status is red on the task bar and when Security Center is opened it states that I have no virus protection.MS Security Essentials status is green on the task bar and when Security Essentials is opened it states that I have protection.I don't know which is true, which to trust, and there seems like the two don't want to work together.1st Question: Is there a fix for this? So the two agree always.2nd Question: Why is there no easy option to exit/stop MS Security Essentials on the task bar, then restart it that would allow it to alert the Security Center to sense that its back up and running? Other virus protection programs allow this selection and user control. View this thread

After the latest updates, I noticed that Outlook looked different, like it was displaying with less bits. It's like the basic display settings have all changed, but I cannot change them with preferences. Selecting different display colors in Outlook does nothing. Docusign Ink add-on no longer loads in Outlook. It has runtime error. Uninstalled and reinstalled, no change. iCloud add-on no longer loaded in Outlook. Reinstalled, no change. Then I noticed that MS Publish looks different. Firefox looks different. IE looks different. I made sure to update my NVIDIA video driver. Nothing changed. I have a program that requires Java and IE to work, now it no longer works. Java is current. I'm thinking that I should back out of the updates, but the updates are required, so eventually I need to install them again. Otherwise, everything else seems to work.HP Pavilion 8gb memory, Win 7 Pro 64-bit View the thread

I keep getting a message indicating "Activate Windows Now"... and that "The Windows Vista Home Premium product key you have typed is invalid for activation" Why? I have had Windows Vista Home Premium installed on my laptop from the time of purchase from Dell sometime ago.... How do I solve this problem, when I have not solicited any action thereto? Hello, the demos shown at http://officeignitelabs.cloudguides.com/Office%20365%20Guides.htm under the identity management section show that the example company alpineskihouse.com uses a subdomain of office365.alpineskihouse.com for the users email address. when creating the whole AD FS stuff linking in with O365, if someone sends an email to bob@alpineskihouse.com will the email reach him or does it have to be sent to bob@office365.alpineskihouse.com? is there anyway we can just use the main domain name of alpineskihouse.com? at present our email server is on premise and users emails are in the format of: bob@alipineskihouse.com when a user wants to log in to the office 365 portal, and when receiving email they would like to just sign into the service and use the email address as bob@alpineskihouse.com adding the sub-domain of office365 (or similar) would cause confusion for us, and we would have to reproduce marketing materials which use these email addresses.... can someone please explain if this possible and briefly how we would do this? I am completely new to the AD FS stuff. additionally, in the first demo of identity management in the link shown above, they use sts.office365.alpineskihouse.com in their DNS for a host record... what is "sts"? what relevance does this have for the setup? what does sts stand for? Thank you Steve View this thread

My MS Sliver-light program has become corrupted, It will not allow me to re-install I keep getting the error "A VERSION IS ALREADY INSTALLED",It dose not show in the list of installed programs nor in the resent updates list so I can't remove it by either of those methods. NONE of the so called MS fix-it routines will fix-it, so much for them then, I did play with the idea of simply deleting it cleaning out the registry and re-installing but will that work ?? Hi, Last Friday we (creative sharepoint) started our Migration from on-prem exchange 2010 to Office 365. We only got as far as creating cloud accounts for everyone and changing our domain into a managed domain. After people changed their passwords on office 365 (from domain passwords to office 365) some people had issues (they had changed their domain passwords to match their more secure office 365 passwords), in which their domain account would be locked out on restart, or just randomly every few minutes. The only thing I could think of doing was to change their domain account password back to what they had it before changing. Is their anything anyone can tell me that might cause this issue? As I have tried getting everyone to remove all old credentials from credential manager, but some people are still experiencing this on start up, while others have their accounts locking every few minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated (sorry for the long post and if this is in the wrong section) Regards, View this thread

Hi, I've just bought a new barebones PC (motherboard, processor and RAM only) with the intention of formatting my current hard drive and using it again in the new system. However, my Windows 7 installation disk is one of those upgrade-only ones, and specifies that Vista or XP needs to already be present in order to install. Is there a way around this? View the thread
