I have a Toshiba laptop, Windows 7 Ultimate. I dont have a recovery disk. Everytime I start windows, Windows Error Recovery ( http://www.techjaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/win7-error-recovery.png ) shows up with two choices; 1. Launch Startup Repair (recommended) 2. Start Windows Normally Whenever I try to choose 2, it gets stuck at Starting Windows screen ( http://www.windows7password.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/safemodewindows71_thumb.jpg) So I chose 1. It lead me here ( http://www.fanhow.com/images/thumb/f/fb/Boot_to_Windows_7_System_Recovery_Options_5.png/540px-Boot_to_Windows_7_System_Recovery_Options_5.png ) I first tried Command Prompt, then I typed "chkdsk c: /f /r" . It took already 3 days. The last time I saw it, it was already (sorry i dont remember) "67,000+ of 300,000 files processed (Stage 4 of 5)" I left for a while then when I came back, it was already rebooting. I don't think its done already because it took too long. . . After rebooting, it displayed again the Windows Error Recovery screen. Then I tried Windows Memory Diagnostic. Everything went fine. The status is always "No problems have been detected yet" until it finished. It still displayed the Recovery screen. I tried System Restore. I chose the latest restore point. When I click next it freezes and its stuck in there for a long time. Next, I tried System Image Recovery, but I don't have any system image saved. Lastly, I tried Startup Repair, it took too long so I cancelled it. I thought it might be like the chkdsk that took too long but didn't fix the problem. I tried Advanced Boot Options ( http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/operab/2010-05-17_070306_Advanced_Boot_Options.jpg ) then I tried the 3 Safe Modes. It didn't worked. I am cross checking the percentage rate used as follows: F8: Value excluding VAT e.g. 1180 G8: VAT paid/received e.g. 180 H: VAT Percentage which I formulated as =G8/F8*(1+G8/F8) The result is 17.58%, rather than 18%, whereas if I work the other way round 1000 * 1.18 = 1180, therefore I am not sure what is wrong with my proportions, can you help me with the right formula please? Hi, I have a 2009 pc with windows xp on it. A while back the pc started rebooting and this does not stop until i remove the power source. When i insert the windows xp cd it does not help or start to install windows again. I have a new laptop with windows 7 on it and would like to transfer the data from the old harddrive to the new one. I cannot use windows transfer as i cannot access the home screen of my old pc to download the application. I can also not manually transfer the data to a memory stick as i cannot select the files that i want to copy. The old pc has a SATA harddrive with one of those orange coiling cables and not the older flat grey ones. How can I transfer my data? View this thread

Hello, I found a bug in Outlook 2013 - following occures: in main window, when I sort the list view with e-mails by "sent to" or by "received from" and when I delete one mail from this list, the view is not correct, because after the deleted E-Mail disapears when I go with my mouse Cursor over other e-mails in the list Outlook 2013 shows all mails from the top of the list (beginning in alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order) as I move with mouse over neighbour mails from the corrected view instead of the same view with only that one item deleted. The scroll element right has the right Position, but after clicking on the arrow up or arrow down within this element it jumps to the start. This has worked in my Outlook 2010 well, and this is very unpleasant because I can not work well everytime sorting my mails right again after I deleted one. This seems to be only the case if I sort my mails by Name, not if sorted by size or received/sent date, then list view works well. I use Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Office 2013 x32, on HP6910 with ATI graphics Card. Whole System works fine since years. Is there any log file I can submit? Is my description clear? Running v1 on HP 470 Mediasmart w/2T in 4 drives. Client is desktop running Win7 Ultimate x64. Server software/hardware were all running fine until... I erred installing MySQL & crashed the WHS OS. Performed Factory re-install per instructions using original HP Disks. Connector Software (x64) will not install because... Connector Installer says it cannot find Server even though... Network Center sees & displays HPServer just fine, AND I can access Server via Browser BUT Server immediately asks for UID & PW, but does not accept anything I enter. NOTE: Using RDC I can bring up Server Desktop, BUT I get the same request for UID & PW. After Factory re-install I was never given the opportunity to enter First Password. What can I do? When Windows 7 was first installed on my computer I had my user file on the right side of the Start menu and when I hovered over it I would get a pop out menu which I could then hover over whatever file I wanted and so forth. My motherboard had to be replaced and now I can't get the pop out menu for my User file. I have to actually click on it and go through all the windows to get to where I want to go. Does anybody know if there's a way to get those pop out menus back? It was a lot easier just to hover my way over to what I needed to open! View the thread

Basically the title says all. My hard drive got corrupted, and I had to do a clean install of Windows 7. Unfortunately, my desktop came with Windows 7 installed, so the activation key cannot be used again. I desperately hope that I don't have to buy Windows just to get a valid key. I get the following error when entering the product key: "The product key you have entered appears to be a default product key and cannot be used for activation. After a recent system restore my system has been updating at leat 200 updates or so, yet, it will not upgrade the net framework from the original 1.1 installed on my windows xp media center pc. Fix-it's etc. require version of 2.0 to work so i can never solve this easily. i recently had a detached retina and would not have the ability to go deep into system logs. I rename files a lot and depend on my very quick and useful shortcut Alt_F_M to facilitate this many times a day when I organize things in Windows Explorer. But recently I've noticed this useless Mediainfo thing there so the shortcut gets stuck. Sure I could hit the M letter twice but what I really need to understand is what determines what is shown under File (and Edit, View, etc). When I have the D drive highlighted Mediainfo is not under File. Only when File or Folder is highlighted is it present in all its inglorious splendor. I've search for mediainfo in C drive as well as D drive where a lot of my programs reside to no avail. Its not in Add/Remove Programs of course. So its just some litter from a previous uninstall that's still hanging around. Is it in the Registry? Group Policy? Maybe somebody could point me in a direction...:) Please don't post Microsoft links. I never understand them as I'm mentally deficient in Microsoft-speak. Maybe its genetic. :) Just need to know what I do to control what's displayed under these Menu items. Actually, this brings up another point: If I could control what is displayed there that would be wonderful and Windows Explorer would be even better than it already is...which is pretty good as a File Manager. I tried Total Commander but found Windows Explorer much more fluid to use. Then again, I'm an idiot. :) Its truly amazing how the vast majority of computer users have no clue where anything is on their system. When I map it out for them with Windows Explorer things start to fall in place in their mind. Its a shame Microsoft (and Apple is just as guilty about this as anyone) doesn't have Windows Explorer as the default way to find stuff in the OS. Rather, so many people use shortcuts (like the Desktop!) which just confuse them greatly when they really need to find something manually. Then they're totally lost. I use Office 2011 for MAC on a MacBook laptop and often cannot open Word, PowerPoint and Excel files created on a PC. Sometimes I can do a workaround to get the data to show using a style function - normal. But I cannot always see all the content. Anyone else have this problem? Could I have corrupted software? Hi everyone, I have installed office 2013 KMS onto one of our 2012 servers and verified it is installed correctly with cscript slmgr.vbs /dlv all . I have opened up the firewall for it and the server can be seen on the domain. Is it true that our KMShost will not begin issuing activations until 5 clients have contacted the KMShost to request activation? I have only installed two office 2013's and am using the volume license keys from: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219430.aspx , but they refuse to activate. Should i use our office standard license on these machines until i get 5? Or continue to deploy using the volume license and when i hit 5-6 machines, they should all active properly? After boot from DVD (the official one bought in a store) screen displays "Windows is loading files ...", but then unexpected things happen: Instead of the invitation to install Windows, the common Win loading bar appears first, then the blue sky screen with the bird and a black frame around, and no button or else to enter anything for getting the Windows 7 setup to start. There is a Win 7 32 bit installed now which is having an issue with the installer: Silverlight from the MS update page is unable to install, and iso files for installing win do produce the setup dialog, but when pressing that button the screen would display first "setup is copying temporary files ...", then "setup is starting ...", but then jump back to the initial Setup Dialog.
