New Hp laptop comes with 4 primary partitions. They are system, OS (C drive), Recovery, and HP Tools> How can I creat a new partition so that I can duel boot withour causing the whole disk to change to dynamic which would get me no where? View the thread

My sister recently got a laptop with windows 8. The laptop model is Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5320. She's had it since Wed. March 6th 2013. The past 2 days this error has occurred twice, once during the night while the laptop was left alone. The best she was able to describe the error: "A message with a frowny face stating Windows has encountered a problem, gathering information and a counter that counts down from 50 seconds then the laptop shuts off or restarts" The only changes made to the laptop was uninstalling some useless junk-ware that came pre-installed (wildtangent games, etc), and the installation of firefox, malwarebytes (not pro), spybot s&d, ccleaner & Microsoft Office 2007. the 1st 3 were downloaded via ninite.com, ccleaner was downloaded via piriform.com and Office 2007 was installed via CD disc Anyone have any information as to what could be causing this? I will have more information as I plan on going over to her house and investigating this myself by searching through error logs, etc. However this is my first time with Windows 8. After upgrading from Vista Home to Windows 7 Ultimate, no problem connecting to internet when logged in as Administrator, but cannot connect to internet using standard account. I have the newest version of Explorer. How do I fix that? View the thread

I use Windows 8 and recently upgraded to Word 365. As an "old time" user, I have discovered that if I want to cleanly copy text from a webpage into Word without text formatting and links, the easiest thing to do is to paste the text in Notepad, copy the text, then paste again into Word. Unfortunately, I cannot copy any text from Notepad into Word. I can copy it to Excel, but not into Word. I have tried the File | Word Options | Advanced . . . Cut, Copy, and Paste section, but it still doesn't work no matter what I do. When I attempt to copy directly from the website I get the Paste Options, "Keep Source Formatting, " and "Merge Formatting," but the "Keep Text Only" option shows nothing. Again, this works as I expect it to in Excel. I just completed the latest Office 365 update. Does anyone have any ideas? View this thread

Started with EOM Version of Premium and upgraded from Microsoft Store online to PRO - worked fine. Later had to reinstall EOM version of PREMIUM. When I try to re-install PRO Upgrade from Microsoft STORE ONLINE I see message OUT OF STOCK!!! UPGRADE ANYTIME?? I purchased computer 3/28/12 and purchased the upgrade 3/29/12. Hello. I am experiencing Windows session crash when hit 64k limit of GDI handles. After some investigation, I found steps of session crash. 1. When hitting the theoretical limit of GDI handles, DWM crashes. 2. Windows 8 tries to restart DWM.(and fail, of course). 3. After some fail to restart DWM, Windows 8 terminates entire windows session. 4. Windows back to logon screen and I lost all work. In Windows 7, Windows does not try to restart DWM so I can close some windows and then restart DWM. But in Windows 8, as steps I posted above, I can't avoid session crash/lost work. As a result, I cant use Windows 8 for work. I don't think increasing Windows global 64k GDI handle limit is possible, despite it would be fundamental solution. So, Is there any way Windows 8 to not try restart DWM when it crashes? Or is there any other possible solution for this problem? Sorry for my bad English. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Last night when I tried to shut down my Computer as I always do, the option to "Swithc User" appeared in the drop down It would not let me use Restart, Shut Down or any of the other options. I am the only user. I logged off my account and and then powered down with the warning that the other user might lose unsaved work. THERE IS NO OTHER USER. Nor has there ever been. How do I get rid of this option. Also..when I click start and go up and down the options, like Program Files, Settings, etc. the blue highlite only appears for a split second. Since having my Acer Aspire 6530 re-formatted and windows Vista re-installed I am now unable to print. I can install any printer on the laptop they all install I can scan a document but when I want to print the file from the computer or scanner it just says Pending but will not print. Hi I am using windows 8, and use a USB Mobile Connect 3G modem, its software created a dial up connection for accessing Internet. Now, don't know what happen, this dial up connection named as 'eVo' is continuously showing disconnecting status and when I right click on it both connect/disconnect and status tabs are disabled. I tried system restart, uninstall its driver and software, but no results. I can not delete this connection as it shows error that it is being used. What to do? View the full article

I did have AVG free on my laptop, but after I tried system restore to try and take it back to last week, AVG stopped working. Itunes has also stopped working and is asking to reinstall files. I have tried system restore several times and it seems to be making the problem worse every time. I have tried downloading several virus removal products in safe mode as well, and turning all the security settings down to low and off, but it is not making any difference. Any help please? I am disappointed in 9. It is supposed to be faster and better. It stalls a lot and I have to keep rebooting to stay connected to theinternet. Okay I did all that about going into Tools ,Control Panel and resetting. It does not help. When I uninstalled 9,, everythingwent back to 7. Why did it not go back to 8 View this thread
